Snow

Zero/Zara

Your blade. You assassin. They do your bidding in the dark, without question. You've known them for years, but for all intents and purposes, the attractive vampire is still an enigma. Even to you.

Master of the coven of The House of Deveraux, they hold a seat at The Crimson Court. They oppose you- openly- at ever turn. But not because their political interests are opposite your own. Lux/Lorelei

The House of Noctus' information broker, they trade in secrets and work their machinations behind closed doors. They often work closely with Zero/Zara to further the aim of the coven, but they've always kept their interactions with you professional...until now.

I needed an outlet for my werewolf romance daydreams and my love for the Victorian gothic aesthetic. Thus, Eirington on the Moor was born. Initially, this came about when I sat down to write more for The House of Noctus. What can I say, I've been reading too many werewolf romance stories, and it's almost Halloween :P 

I love vampires (hence THoN), but there's something about romancing a hot alpha werewolf with all his feral quirks that's just sooo much fun :) <3

Hey everyone!

I'm back from hiatus (kind of lol)! More to come soon, but I just wanted to make a quick post replying to those of you asking if my games have been taken down. The House of Noctus is back up but all my other projects are still down. THoN likely won't be accessible for awhile unless you have a direct link, so for anyone who wants to play it now, you can click the link for the game in my pinned post to access it.

I'll be including characters from both The House of Noctus and Eirington on the Moor!

Favorite character to write: D or L. They're polar opposites (and sworn enemies), that's probably why I have so much trouble choosing between them. L is a favorite to write because their love for MC is so soft and absolute. But with D, I never know how they're going to react till I put them in a scene, which keeps things exciting.

Least favorite to write: So far? Probably Lady Madeline. But this answer is definitely going to change once we meet The Crimson Court.

Most frustrating to write: Lu. Lu all day every day. This is largely because of a mistake on my end. Initially I imagine their character differently, and when I started writing the scenario posts, I found the way Lu responded was too similar to Z. So I changed Lu's character a bit, but that didn't feel right either. I finally have a writeup for them that feels true and authentic to their original image, but distinct enough from Z. Occasionally I find myself lapsing into that original character build I imagined for them though.

Character who surprised you the most (for whatever reason): Alpha Leoric. Before I sat down to write EotM, I pictured him as an aggressive, feral alpha type, but when I started writing, something entirely different came out. And, surprisingly, I found I liked him more as this restrained, broody Alpha torn between duty and desire.

Character you hope people will like: Snow. They're such a sweet cinammon roll, I can't help but root for them.

Character you worry people might hate: D. For obvious reasons 🤣 Their behavior may seem...extreme, until you learn the reason for it.

Any characters that are buzzing about at the back of your mind, but have no place in the story (yet): ?????. They're an obsessive, submissive, yandere coded RO for THoN. I decided not to include them in the first chapter because I thought more than 5 ROs would end up being overwhelming for both myself and readers. I can still write them in (and I'm tempted to because they pander to my own bias lol) but I'm on the fence whether or not 6 ROs will be too much.

Any characters you wonder might be better suited in a different story: I love all my characters right where they're at <3

Character you want to be friends with: Genevieve. She's loyal, grounded, and prioritizes doing what's best for those around her <3 Also Z because they're very chill.

Character you'd avoid IRL: Lady Madeline.

I'll be pulling from both The House of Noctus and Eirington on the Moor. My word was FESTIVE!

F- "Flirting with death does, on occasion, warrant a moment or two of quiet contemplation." 

E- Euphoric, lost in oblivion, and completely consumed as you lap at his wrist. L moans, but you barely hear it, drowned beneath your own pulse. Warmth floods your body and pools between your thighs. The ache in your stomach turns to hunger, then to something deeper.

S- Slick iron warms your tongue despite the frostbite that has stolen the color from your cheeks, now a pallor white as bone.

T- The anguish in their voice is raw- visceral- as they slip their hands under you and cradle you to their chest. They're shaking so hard that you can feel them tremble, even through the unnatural chill that consumes you. 

I- It's…like nothing you've ever felt before. An exquisite hunger that threatens to consume you. And yet, you never want it to end.

V- L's voice is the last thing you hear as you disappear into the darkness. (Couldn't find a sentence that started with V, so had to settle for a runner up :P )

E- Extensive studies in literature, music, and philosophy ensure you're a competent conversationalist. You can play piano, recite poetry, and smile sweetly- when inclined.

Warm wishes to anyone getting snow this time of year, and happy holidays to those of you who celebrate <3 I've been learning more about passive versus active voice, and reworking a bit of THoN based on this feedback (only the first few paragraphs, and only stylistically).  Because active voice lends itself to immersion, I want to make sure I truly understand how to implement it before moving forward with the bulk of my writing.

Immersion is something I've been particularly concerned with because it can make or break the experience of diving into a new world, learning the lore, and romancing the characters :) I've decided to post the first few reworked paragraphs of THoN so you can vote on which version you prefer (the original or the reworked version)!  That way I have a better idea of what everyone prefers before I actually implement the changes. 

Original Version:

When you open your eyes, you're covered in blood and snow. Your lashes are frosted white. You blink twice, slowly.

It's dark. The sky above is a deep indigo, filled with smog and car exhaust. You're surrounded by crumbling brick, and you can just barely make out the blare of horns in the distance. Snow continues to fall in delicate spirals and, for a moment, you stare at the ice crystals, transfixed.

They're pure.

Perfect.

Hauntingly beautiful as they lay suspended in the pool of blood that surrounds you.

Pain blooms beneath your ribs, sharp and unyielding. Your hands come to rest on your abdomen and you realize, belatedly, the crimson blood pooling around you is your own.

Reworked Version:

You open your eyes to oblivion.

Scarlet snow blankets your half-frozen form. Frost coats your lashes. You blink twice, slowly.

It's dark.

Smears of deep indigo stain the sky above, streaked with smog and car exhaust. A horns blares in the distance. You gasp, dragging frigid air past cracked lips. The bitter cold burns going down and settles beneath your ribs. Slick iron warms your tongue despite the frosbite that has stolen the color from your lips, now a pallor white as bone. Snow continues to fall in delicate spirals and, for a moment, you stare at the ice crystals, transfixed.

They're pure.

Perfect.

Hauntingly beautiful as they lay suspended in the pool of blood that surrounds you.

Pain blooms beneath your ribs, sharp and unyielding. You lift your hand to your abdomen and realize, belatedly, the crimson blood pooling around you is your own.

Game rules: Participants must share one sentence/excerpt from their IFs that starts with each letter of the word you're given.

My words: GAUZE

G- Glass rains down as the battle shreds the lobby. Snow shields you, absorbing the debris. The runes at their throat glow faintly.

A- An exquisite hunger that threatens to consume you. And yet, you never want it to end. It's seductive. Intoxicating. Warmth blooms in your chest, and all you can think about is him-

U- I couldn't find a sentence in eitheir THoN or EotM that starts with U 😅 ‍

Z - Z chuckles. "They don't have your...touch. Your finess, Mistress/Master. And the last time a Coven head went missing before the masquerade, the Court restructured the entire blood pact system.”

E- Euphoric, lost in oblivion, and completely consumed as you lap at their wrist. L moans, but you barely hear it, drowned beneath your own pulse. Warmth floods your body and pools between your thighs. The ache in your stomach turns to hunger, then to something deeper. Something carnal.
