Here’s all my answers!! I had a lot of fun doing this, and also realized that I don’t really have a great way of organizing all the music I like. Obvs this prompt list isn’t meant to be totally comprehensive, so plenty of music I really love didn’t make it on here.
Recently I’ve been listening to so so much of NewDad and wilt, both on this list. I really do listen to F+TM that much; her and Yo-Yo Ma have been with/gotten me through so much over the years.

I guess I just needed to talk to someone to get this off my chest.
I'm young compared to most of the members of the if community. I really love writing; however, ever since I was a kid, I had this habit of comparing myself to other people. In my schools and classes as a young kid, teachers would grade the "best story" or writing style and this only increased my fear of writing as there was always someone better than me in the end.
There's this story idea I want to make it into an if so bad; however, when I sit down and write some planning or scenes, there's this deep sense of inferiority within me as I fear of how the audience will perceive my writing style. Especially considering how many of the audience members in the community are a lot more older than me, I get afraid that my writing will be perceived "childish" and "immature".
Sometimes this fear makes me run away from my projects and I leave it hanging or barely planned for months on end. Sometimes this fear makes me think "maybe I should improve my writing skill" and, again, I never get to properly finish or start with my projects I want to jot down badly. I know this can come off as "lazy", but I get really scared that my writing is horrendous to people.
I guess my question to this weird ranting is: should I just...put myself out there? Or should I just not?

I very much understand this and I am sure that the majority of experienced writers do as well.
When I was but a seal pup myself, I shared what I wrote and sometimes it had positive reception and sometimes not! When I looked back at it, sometimes I felt terribly embarrassed. But then with further distance, I learned to be kinder towards my younger self and take a great deal of pride in their creativity.
Which is not to say that you will have reached that point now, or that reaching it is easy. But the only way to help yourself feel less anxious about your projects is to practise. You may never feel entirely confident and comfortable, but my advice is to try to embrace writing for yourself first, and then shifting gently into sharing it with others (if you end up wanting to).
I know it is very hard, but comparing your writing to other people's polished work is a tempting but false perspective. We can often be our own worst critics, and we see all the imperfections that others might not - not to mention the fact that everyone else's beautifully polished work was a first draft that the writer gnashed their teeth terribly over.
I wonder if you might enjoy trying to write something small, the IF equivalent of a short story, or even just a scene. Something for yourself, without the pressure of wondering what someone will think. Is there a theme or character idea or something else that grabs you? That might be a good hook for you to make small steps rather than something that feels more overwhelming.
I believe that if you want to share your work, that will be scary but there is also the potential for great enjoyment and satisfaction.
As for writing being immature... well, what is immaturity really? I do not think work from younger writers is necessarily immature, but it is also natural to be inexperienced in writing, and to develop over time. But again, practice is your friend there.
I do not think you are lazy, and I hope you feel confident enough to write something you enjoy!
I can definitely tell you one thing: writing in school classes is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from writing your own stories.
I never had good grades when I had to do "creative" writing at school. Most of the time we had to pick broader subjects to write about and none of them were really of interest to me, and at the times we could choose our own topic freely I still struggled to find the correct words and have my stories flow well compared to others. My grades in creative writing were always just mid, and I honestly didn't enjoy it at all even though I love languages. Every time I'd just end up disappointed by the result.
I loved to read as a child already, and one should think that writing would come easier to me. But it were restrictions like topics and time pressure that made me do not as well as my peers did.
For always comparing yourself to others... I totally get that. It's tough. I also do that all the time.
There are many great writers out there, and it's incredibly tempting to keep comparing yourself to them.
That said, from the way you write I doubt you are the worst writer out there - on the contrary. I think the way you write is a pretty good indicator that you're not half as bad at writing as you may think (and as your classes might have led you to believe you are).
Will you be a really good writer? What even defines a good writer, or a good story?
Some people don't like flowery speech and descriptions, some people don't like complicated words, some people don't like modern words used in historical settings, some people don't like too simplified stories.
Some people only like certain genres or don't like your writing style.
And all of that is totally fine.
There's always going to be people who don't enjoy what you write. And you yourself are always going to be your own harshest critic. Being a writer is not easy, but looking at your stories and seeing that people are actually interested in discovering your worlds feels very rewarding.
So please, write your own stories. As the lovely seal has said, you can start slowly! The hardest step is always the first one - the beginning. And in this case, that means actually writing.
Don't pressure yourself into posting something if you don't feel ready to do so yet. It's totally okay to take your time.
hellooo I went to go play Älvsbyn today because I haven’t played since I haven’t played for a while, I started a fresh game and? I’m not sure if it’s my computer being evil, but theres one of those error things (I think for the code?) on the turn after you set your name and three in the little dropdown menu. So I can’t see the character+relation menus or the bestiary and I cant pick either option for what I wanted to do with the house 💔
Again it might just be my computer bc there was an error message in the last game I played but I thought it may be good to lyk. Terribly sorry if I’ve been rude

I think it might be your computer/browser considering the option for the house - that should work fine. I just tried it in my browser and everything works. :/
Considering the menus - I changed it to unlocking them later on. The character menu unlocks when you go to the kitchen, the bestiary has a chance to unlock with the pantry or later moments in chapter 1, and the relationship menu unlocks early on in chapter 1. :)
The environmental impact of AI is actually what Im not seeing enough people talk about. Like aside from the plagiaris, AI is one of the reasons why we're going through this heatwave, it's impacting Black and Brown neighborhoods in the US. AI isn't a tool, is something that the rich are using to make sure poor people stay poor and we have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

There are great sources that lets you colour pick skin tones from real sources, and to make it easier for people you can just give out the hex code. And BAM! They'll have the exact skin colour you imagine for the character.
“feel better about using AI” no, I don’t feel bad about using it at all. It’s bad for the environment, yeah, many things have been bad for the environment for a very long time. “The "there are kids starving in Africa" mode of argument” the reason these arguments still exist is bc it’s true, there will always be much more important problems than AI, it shouldn’t be a priority at all. And the fact yall think it’s okay to ostracize someone bc they use AI is just toxic. Someone uses it to translate: “UNACCEPTABLE!” Then what are they supposed to do? Bc google translate uses AI, a large number of software nowadays use AI. Ai is bad for the environment, sure, no one disputes that but it’s honestly helping a lot of ppl. And the plain truth is that insult ppl online for using AI won’t change jack shit. How do you expect the creator to translate? And there was even a time an author said they used Google Translate, mind you they didn’t even know they used AI for it now, and people just bombarded them, are you ppl crazy? Refer to the previous ask I just posted and every other instance of AI data centers literally kicking people out of their homes and clearing hundreds of acres of trees and using thousands of gallons of fresh water while we still have cities that are being poisoned by their own drinking water. I'm not sure who exactly has to be hurting for YOU to consider something important, but I think that's pretty fucking important.
Letting the "children starving in africa" comparison sail right over your head was a choice. Because it's not about whether or not it's true. It's that it's fucking stupid. "Why do you care about AI? There are wars?" "Why do you care about wars? There are people starving in our own country and dying from a want of medicine?" "Why do you care about people dying in your country, there are people dying in OTHER countries" --- etc, etc, etc. You can "someone has it worse" literally everything straight into absolute meaninglessness. Or at least enough to justify not caring about what other people care about. Like dropping into someone's inbox to cry about people thinking AI sucks.

There is a place a few hours from me in Maysville, KY where an AI data center is being built. The company bought 2,000 acres of land and are trying to force 28 citizens in a mobile home park out of their homes. I haven't seen much coverage on it because no one cares about it. They are offering $20,000 to each household to cover moving expenses. If I owned a home, even if it was a trailer, I would be pissed. Many of these people are low income and elderly. Buying a new home is going to be out of the question. All of the houses in my area are AT LEAST $130k+ Not to mention, other AI data centers have cleared hundreds of acres of trees, which we kind of need to live.
No one cares until that 28 is 28,000 people. No one cares about our national forests and the old growth until deforestation has nearly wiped it out. No one cares about the endangered animals or plants until the are gone. Even then it seems that as long as they can have an AI spit out their OC, they don't care. There are so many beautiful places in my country and I want to keep it that way. I want to be able to live in the countryside without the fear of being displaced because some fuck off AI company offered 8mil to buy up all the land. No, AI data centers can fuck off and so can anyone that takes up for it. I'm so damn tired of AI. For anons to act like it's not hurting anything when there are facts that it is, it so ignorant.

It's cool, really. I find it extremely amusing that they go around and send the same message to anyone even remotely interacting with the interact-if post I reblogged, and general anti-genAI writers.
Not even mad about their message, I just find it incredibly sad for the lone pebble slipping around in the cavity where their brain is supposed to be. But well - if someone is so ignorant to the uselessness and destructive nature of genAI, you sadly can't reason with them.

I have crippling financial debt and my drawings aren't great, and I still don't need AI to make "pretty" pictures for me.
You know what I do? I use my WORDS to describe my characters. I make MOODBOARDS for my characters. I have awesome friends who make art for me for free and give me tips for my own art.
A bit different as it doesn't even have a demo out so there is no proof of AI being used to generate any text but The IF Pu$$y Trauma used AI for their character face claims.

How did the Ros react to the MC who, in some rare transformations, makes a nest out of their clothes and, when they can't get any more clothes, whines? And if they ignore their pleas, their eyes get teary. Then, they lie down on top of the Ros, sniffs their necks, and sleeps holding onto them or using them as a pillow, all while emitting a soft sound (a low grumble or growl) of pleasure. When the Ros wake up, they no longer find that beautiful creature, but rather a person lying on their chest.

All of them would LOVE to receive wolf cuddles, so here's their reactions to a suddenly human (and very much naked) MC lying on top of them in the morning:
Călin would be in equal parts excited in a good way and slightly panicking because... wth is he supposed to do now?! He'd end up waking up MC and uhm... there's honestly no telling who's more embarrassed, he or MC.
Viorel would be very understanding of the situation (albeit blushing so much one would be scared about all the blood concentrating in one place...), he'll try his best to ignore MCs nakedness and will try to act as if still asleep until MC wakes up so they can cover themselves.
Lăcrămioara would be... fairly chill about it. She would wrap MC in a blanket and enjoy the cuddles for what they are, no matter if MC is nude or not.
Brândușa would be mortified. She'd first throw a blanket over MC and then quickly wake them so they can be mortified and embarrassed together.
Serghei would be somewhat surprised to find them naked the next morning on top of him... but eh, it happens. Will put a blanket on top of MC to save their dignity, then he'd wake them up.
So, I finished the update. I loved it. Also, I love who our neighbor is 👀 hopefully they dont see mc doing their job or anything 🤭
But it makes me wonder if our mc is more intune with like the folklore bc it sounds like mom really isn't. But she seems to know of it. 🤔 Bc obviously grandma seemed to be. And all the ros probably knew grandma 👀. I wonder what's going to be in that notebook of hers.

Well, he might accidentally stumble upon MC doing their job... :) Or perhaps that'll only happen in a side story lmao, I'm not too sure about where to squeeze in a scene like that.
MCs mother definitely knows about the strange happenings, but it was the reason why she moved away. That woman didn't want any part in it lmao
MC can kind of choose to a degree how much they want to learn about folklore. It's inevitable to learn about some things - and they don't have to like what they learn - but how much they know about folklore will definitely influence some things down the line.
I will say that I definitely plan 1-2 extra scenes for MCs with kiddos, simply because life's a little different with them :) And there will be some scenes that change.
Perhaps I will give childless MCs a little more time to do other things instead!
