Spends most of his time here with us, probably because we feed him scraps." New Guy: "I don't even know what he is. He looks like a turtle and a crab had a baby together." Old Timer: "Well, he's an alien. Nobody knows what he is. We don't even know if he's a he." New Guy: "And he's not dangerous?" Old Timer: "Only if you're a potato peel. Or a mushroom stem. Or any leftover food. By the way, there's no five second rule in this kitchen. If it falls on the floor, it's his." New Guy: "And all the SGC personnel are okay eating food from a kitchen where an alien critter hangs out and eats?" Old Timer: "Haven't had a single complaint." New Guy: "Really?" Old Timer: "Well you can't complain about what you don't know about, can you?" New Guy: "But what does the general say?" Old Timer: "General doesn't know about it either. Daniel's the deep dark secret of the kitchen staff. And you're part of it now too, rookie." New Guy: "Oh... okay. Why do you call him Daniel?" Old Timer: "Because several times a year he goes exploring and disappears, and stays gone for just long enough we start thinking he's dead. But in the end he always comes back." New Guy: "I don't get it." Old Timer: "Don't worry. You will."
