David has never had a sense of style and lately he's been dressing even worse, so the specially ruined clothes are not very different from what David usually wears.

Big names want to style her while he wears whatever he can find off the rack at Goodwill.

One has nothing to do with the other because they are completely different people living their own lives with careers that went in different ways after they finished xfiles. If, in fact, like a couple people like to suggest, that these 2 old colleagues still had some connection there is no way that he would dress and look the way he does. He would have res I resources and support to do and be better. Even Peter has elevated in how he dresses and looks. His looks! Still not attractive but better looking than when they first got together.

David has gone in the opposite direction.

At first, I was "yeah, what an ass", but then I remembered that his IWTB revision history version was supposed to be released earlier, so the timing could just be coincidence. Didn't he mention his mind's eye version about a year ago? Interestingly, his crap version released on the same day as his perverted friend's crap album was released. Sadly, he can't bank on getting momentum from disgraced David's success because that comes only through fans who reminisce about his past, so Carter will have to find himself a Delorean and fix it up with a flux capacitor to go back to the 90s.

I wonder if Gillian or Groomer will comment on the revision. David has lied, I mean stated, that he feels protective of Mulder, so will he be pleased that the depth of the relationship and meaning of Mulder to Scully was essentially erased.

I don't believe in coincidences. Carter didn't make any drastic changes to the plot, he didn't reshoot any scenes or anything like that, so I doubt the new editing of the film took that long. Carter and David are friends and they've been supporting each other for quite a long time, so I don't believe it's a coincidence that their "projects" appeared on the same day. But bad singing and a bad movie won't save each other or attract the attention these two are definitely hoping for.

I don't think it's going to help David. It takes talent for a person to write really good poetry, which David doesn't have. His poems do not exceed the limits of average poetry.
