It wasn't that big of an issue when we were younger because I never realized how gross and honestly painfully awkward it was especially in public, but now that we're in our mid 20s it's gotten to the point where I don't feel comfortable going out to the bar or meeting up with other friends with Emily anymore because I'll be judged on her behalf. Since covid I feel like everyone's been paranoid and won't just brush off allergies if they don't know her well, especially because they've gotten worse over the years.

I've asked her lightly if she's thought about seeing a specialist and she seemed reluctant, so I don't want to press the issue, but every single time she sneezes now a bunch of snot comes out of her nose, and several times she's sneezed directly on me and launched snot rockets right onto my clothes or in my hair. And she's never prepared with a tissue and has to dig in her purse looking for one with a booger hanging from her nose.

And there have already been multiple awkward incidents that I deem as "nightmare scenarios" for my socially introverted brain, like the time we were standing in line for coffee and she sprayed a huge sneeze all over my new jacket and the counter and I had to apologize profusely to the barista as they wiped everything down in front of us, and when we took a cab home from a party together and she sneezed in front of my then-boyfriend and had to sit there with snot on her lip for the rest of the 15 minute car ride because nobody had any kleenex, and at a sleepover at my place right after we graduated high school when she had a sneezing fit right into the shared chip bowl while everyone was watching, and like a dozen other moments that keep me up at night cringing.
