Ilya is forced to go to community college to get a degree required for his work visa (or something).
On campus he meets Shane (who lost his hockey scholarship to a top-tier university because of an injury or because he had a nervous breakdown) and pretends to run a study group in order to get Shane's attention.
But Shane takes the study group literally instead of realizing that Ilya just wants to spend time with him and invites more classmates to join the study group much to Ilya's initial annoyance (the other members of the study group would be Svetlana, Rose and the other hockey players) and so the Greendale shenanigans begin, which would include:
Shane and Ilya as debate partners with Shane getting all competitive and kissing Ilya right on stage to win the debate.
