There's an established minimum rate, plus additional costs for injuries, losses and overtime. No, you don't get your money back. Yes, he won't tell a single soul about it unless you want him to. Yes, you can get a discount if it's something serious and yes, he will probably do it for free anyway if it's something actually serious, but don't get cocky about it. does this make sense cuz like. percy has spent so long trying to protect nico, and he still wants to do that, but im just imagining him learning that nico is gay and just having a sinking feeling of horror and fear at the realization that no matter how accepted nico is at camp half blood in regards to who he is (his father), people in the real world will still hate him for who he is (his sexuality)

like i said nico was outcasted from camp just because of who he was (his father) while queer people, even today, are outcatsed and harmed just because of who they are (their sexuality), and percy knows this. out of all demigods, hes the most socially aware because he lives in the real world, and hes also a child of the big three like nico, so out of everyone hed be the most aware of how he’d be treated, which is why he doesnt push nico to try and stay at camp, and which is why i can see him not pushing nico into the mortal world not that hed push any of his friends into a world they dont want to live or be in, but for nico specifically, and specifically in the time the books are supposed to be in, i can see percy trying to activley keep nico away from the mortal world or going out of his way to protect nico from it, because again. hes lived in that world, and if you follow the bisexual percy headcanon, then he understands the struggle of being a big three kid and a queer kid and he has spent years protecting nico from people who want to hurt him because of who his father is and now he will spent even longer trying to protect nico from people who want to hurt him because of what his sexuality is

anyways i love headcanons where percy is just. an absolute New York stereotypical skater kid emphasis on stereotypical. like yes he spent most of his time at private boarding schools and yes he was only in New York in the summer and yes he's a mama's boy so he would never (intentionally) commit any type of crime but also. he knows how to pickpocket because his neighbor taught him when he was eight. the local police chief knows him personally even though he's never actually been jailed for anything because "why are you always on the scene when something happens?". he figured out how to pick locks on WikiHow when he was 11 so that if Gabe locked him out and forgot to let him back in he could do it himself. when he said in book 1 that he sold 'candy' to rich kids at his private school for cash, what he really meant was that he picked random plants in the schoolyard and told people they were weed and got money for it until someone realized the weirdo from dorm 1 was scamming everyone with dandelions,
he's a legend at the skatepark because he has zero self preservation and so on a given day you can see him doing the most insane death-defying stunts ever and all the local parents are scared he's going to crack his head on the concrete someday and give their kids ptsd. piper "annabeth you didn't tell me he's a skater kid ;-;" mclean absolutely teases him for all the above 24/7, send tweet

thats it. thats literally the only thing that makes him unreliable. youre calling him 'slow' or 'oblivious' because he didnt realize nico, annabeth, rachel etc. were in love with him? no he just didnt realize that anyone could loev him. because he sure didnt.
percy also always underplayed his own abilities, because he hates himself. he has shitty self esteem, of course hes going to mention only the basics, he thinks hes fucking sucks at everything.
percy is literally one of the smartest and most observant characters in pjo, he can pick up on body language and subtle social cues and notice things about people really fuckn easily and then use that against that percy (read: charon scene in book one), its just that when it comes to himself all that goes out the window because he just fucking. hates himself. he doesnt think hes worthy of literally anything i think people forget that gabe wasnt the only form of abuse he went through pre-demigod life. we hear over and over again just how bad his classmates treat him, people who are supposed to be equals. of course hes going to hate himself, no ones shown him hes worthy of love aside from sally.

it's actually incredibly funny to me that the ares and poseidon cabins are next to each other, like pre-"official" friendship, percy and clarisse are throwing rocks at each other's windows in the middle of the night just to be Annoying, but post-"official" friendship, they're keeping the windows wide open, and it becomes increasingly common to walk past the two cabins and just hear percy having a shouted conversation with clarisse or another child of ares, they're throwing things back and forth through the windows, once a younger ares kid throws an entire shield and clarisse laughs so hard she almost falls out the window, percy retaliates by splashing her with water from tyson's fountain
