ODY'S STORY
after gaining immortality and after polyphemus, his story takes a turn for the worse. the furies end up capturing him and torturing him, leading to his belief now that he was born a monster instead of becoming one. believing that he is to blame for... everything.
he tries. he tries so, so hard to keep living. but three thousand years of only eventually burying the families you've made leads him into isolation. leads him to being... nobody.
and now?
now, ithaca's regarded as the safest place in the entire world. all because of him. all because he's protected it since day one. and it's a thankless job. no one even knows he exists. they certainly don't know who he used to be.
all the people of ithaca know him as... is the red/crimson ghost of their island.
POSEIDON'S STORY
of course there's immediate guilt. he wanted to kill odysseus, not turn him immortal. he had watched from afar for quite a while... until he couldn't be passive anymore.
his intervention ends with his banishment. self-inflicted, spending thousands of years deep within the mariana trench because of what he had to do. because he had to save ████ by ending his life.
but within the trench, he meets a sea nymph. the process was long, grueling, but eventually... both of them come out of that trench together. not completely healed, but still together.
he's even reconciled with odysseus.
... that guilt never truly going away.
ZEUS'S STORY
this time, the mutiny works.
it was not an easy decision. the charge led by athena again. if only zeus had listened. if only zeus had been a better king to them all, then maybe... maybe this wouldn't have to happen.
maybe taking his god king status and throwing him into his own prison, amphora, wouldn't have had to happen. placed back at the very mountain he'd been raised on, now trapped in a cage of his own making.
but this imprisonment isn't supposed to be permanent. this cell, his watcher. athena had advocated that... even the worst person can change if they just try, can't they?
HADES'S STORY
how can you remain unscathed?
you've no karma to reap. you have not took what cannot be taken back. and for this, your times throughout the thousands of years has been fruitful. you're at peace, and so are the souls you protect.
but what happens, then, when the world is not at peace?
when the world goes to war with one another not once, but twice? when the amount of souls coming to the underworld... can make anyone lose faith in humanity?
but you're not anyone.
hades learns. hades grows. his hope shines even brighter. a hope so bright, so real, that it manifests itself into a child that persephone and he finally have. the hope, zagreus.
DIOMEDES'S STORY
it starts during the trojan war.
there's consequences for spilling the ichor of two gods. consequences diomedes doesn't much pay attention to after returning home to a throne essentially taken from him. he could've fought. he could've killed. but he didn't. instead, going out into the world to establish new cities. to meet new people. and years pass. and years pass. and years pass.
he finds out that his old friend, odysseus, is still living just as he. so he goes to support him. to make sure he's okay. they're both not aging. it's... only that, right? odysseus certainly never mentions anything more.
so can you blame him? when an old friend is taken by the furies in front of you, can you blame diomedes for thinking that he's dead?
there's consequences for spilling the ichor of two gods.
consequences for not being able to save your friend.
diomedes fights. he fights in every war that he can now. fights no matter the cost because he cannot just sit by anymore. fighting through every war... gives you some notoriety, doesn't it? it makes people pay attention to you. it eventually makes you a target.
it eventually gets you captured and experimented on.
being able to escape eventually, diomedes now moves around very often. never staying in one place, never leaving too much of a trace behind. he can't risk ever being cut open again.

Anybody still follows Nobody’s path. However, he was also punished right after 600 strikes, where he was set ablaze by the godly ichor sprayed onto his body as he continuously stabbed Poseidon. It got so bad that he fell off a cliff just to cool off in the ocean. It didn't matter if the ocean took him alive; he would rather drown than be burned alive. By the time he arrived in Ithaca, he was heavily bandaged by the Phaeacians. Consequently, pretty much no one—not even his family members—recognised him until he wielded the bow.
I know Nobody protects the island while Somebody practically kills everyone. As for Anybody, he’s more of a quiet observer. He doesn’t want to bother with the locals' affairs. That doesn’t mean Anybody just sits back and does nothing, though. He helped the locals during different wars, giving shelter to homeless people and evacuating them from danger. He also protects children, using grenades(don’t ask how he got them) to throw the enemy line off guard so the kids can flee while he buys them time.
Children call him Mr. One eyed man.Get cuz ‘eye to ey- ok I’ve officially gone insane

Imagine a “ Disembody” Au where Odysseus dies during the final battle of the Trojan War, escapes from the underworld, and desperately tries to make his way home to see Penelope, even if it’s just seeing her one last time, without anyone finding out he’s technically dead. Maybe in this Au Hades takes on the role of his pursuer but I’m leaning more towards it still being Poseidon trying to get revenge after Polyphemus and being extra angry and sneaky about it because he technically can’t kill what’s already dead without stepping on his brother’s toes.
WHOEVER THINKS UP THE -BODY AU DEALS IT 👁👁 GET TO WORK STONEY
Alright alright I hear ya, I whipped up Disembody Au real quick
In this Au Odysseus tries to refuse killing Astyanax and delays just a bit longer than he should have, this means there is enough time for Andromache to discover what is happening and she stabs Odysseus in the back killing him (this is the scar on his chest, the piece of debris she uses goes all the way through) . It is in vain however because Neoptolemus eventually kills Andromache and Astyanax.
When Hermes comes to collect them and bring all three to the underworld Odysseus says he has decided to become a psychopomp effectively following in Hermes’ footsteps, he says he’ll lead the group and Hermes can collect the many other souls who have died. This all is a trick so they all can stay in the mortal world and it mostly works (Andromache decides to move on, deciding that Odysseus will be tasked with giving her son a life as punishment for taking it) and Odysseus rejoins his crew having inherited a baby and a few more traits from Hermes (his ears and very small wings on his head and ankles)
Everything essentially follows canon except for Odysseus hiding the fact that he is just a soul and is not in a body anymore until after the encounter with Polyphemus where there are two major changes. Firstly Polites and the rest of the crew that die in the cave cannot go to the underworld because Odysseus is technically the psychopomp who is there with them and Secondly Poseidon cannot publicly try to get revenge on Odysseus because he belongs to Hades now that he’s functionally dead.
I don’t know where things would go from there, probably hijinks involving Poseidon trying to secretly double kill Odysseus every night while simultaneously helping Ody keep the secret that he died because it’s beneficial for him if as few people as possible know so no one snitches on him to his brother
Really this would function as an everybody lives (a few people die) au and be as comical as possible
@couchgobbler made an excellent point in the server
if you want a -body there are a limited number out there, so feel free to make your own -body word to do it!
Wait can I pre-claim a -body? I haven't gotten to my tablet yet please I have one and I don't want anyone to take it 😭
come off anon and i can try to vouch for ya XD
we're also making these sillies in the ISLAND IN THE SKY disco server so it's a bit easier to track whoever there ^^
I see all these “-body” counterparts, and I’m joining in!! :3
How about…
Underbody??
(A synonym for this is “underbelly,” but I’m taking it to a different level…)
Here’s what the text says:
left behind in the Underworld (added context: a couple crew members overheard Odysseus [during Monster], so they left him because they didn’t want to risk their lives.)
Refused to die for so long (maybe he ate something here that gave him immortality or something, idk)
Has advanced senses
In this AU, Hades is a little less merciful.
Roams the Underworld as punishment (idk what exactly… trespassing, maybe?)
(I want to use this and do something along this line: “Isn’t this what you wanted? To become the monster?”)
HE HAS STILL DONE NOTHING WRONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Penelope prays to Hera for help removing the unwanted suitors from her house.
Hera, acknowledging Penelope and Odys loyalty to each other, as well as recognizing Odys contributions in defeating Troy, answers her prayers.
She tasks Hephaestus with making a lifelike replica of Odysseus to fool all of Ithica into believing their king has returned.
The replica cannot die as it is not really alive, so any assassination attempts by the disgruntled suitors fail. The replica also fully believes it is the real Odysseus, though it has some gaps in its knowledge and memory. (Cough cough fails the olive tree test cough cough)
like i said WHOEVER THINKS OF THE AU DEALS THE AU now i expect more lore on my desk early tomorrow CHOP CHOP

Basically somebody and nobody follow the same events but instead of doing what nobody does he takes a completely different route and decides to change his look and live among the people and get to know them, so he’s pretty well known on Ithaca
Though there’s is a tiny, very tiny uh- thing to this, instead of protecting the island he’s essentially killing the people who live there, since with the modern age we see more people and more waste which leads to the island becoming more and more dull over time, so somebody decides that to preserve the island for his family and his sake the best way is to kill EVERYONE. To do that he uses his kind appearance to lure the victim and strike when their least suspecting is, sort of like a sirennn
Uh uh some other things he’s he has water powers, shit relationships with everyone nobody has and ya basically he’s obviously the most sweetest person in the world and Sky loves his so much TRUST ME
WE HATE HIM....... WE HATE HIM AND HIS LORE.... /silly

Okay so I'm pretty sure homebody au is a joke. But.
I vaguely remember that one of the things that Ody tried in Homer's original to convince ppl he was too crazy to go to war was riding his horse backwards, so what if when he did that, the horse ended up getting hurt/killed, injuring Ody so bad in the accident he got out of the war on that grounds, but the horse dying so pointlessly pissed off Poseidon so the conses had to quence
it's not like poseidon hasn't thrown a tantrum for less........ "chill like the waves" ok buddy.
new -body au, "homebody" it's odysseus but he weaseled his way out of going to war and then never left, but somehow still got into a fight with poseidon and ended up immortal/j
