Better Call Saul is such a good prequel, because Nacho Varga is retroactively haunting the fuck out of the narrative of Breaking Bad despite only being offhandedly mentioned once. Basically every major plot point that isn’t just Walter’s midlife crisis can be traced back to him. Like, Domingo’s whole everything in season 1, Walter and Jesse even meeting Saul in the first place (Jesse knew Saul through Emilio who probably was introduced to him by Domingo, who knew him because of Nacho), them getting involved with gus (Mike knows gus because he got involved with the Salamancas through Nacho) (and Saul only got deeply involved enough with the underworld and Mike bc Nacho introduced him to Lalo), some of Mike’s character motivations (especially in regards to Jesse), hell even Walt witnessing the raid in episode one (Domingo is Hank’s snitch, bc nacho got saul to be his lawyer), and probably some other stuff too but I just started season 6.
In retrospect, Mike’s death becomes even more fucked up when you consider the BCS episodes of him and Saul in the desert. Saul owes his life to Mike, they went through that ordeal together, then when Mike is in danger and needs Saul to get the go bag from the airport, he freaks out and refuses. “It has to be you, Saul” gets layered by the years these two have spent working together, and particularly the instance in which Mike witnessed him fulfill a similar task under even more extreme circumstances, in addition to the fact that Mike does not trust Walter and doesn’t want to put Jesse in the line of fire. But Saul is way more of a coward than Jimmy ever was, and so he refuses, Walter goes, and Walter kills Mike when he doesn’t even have to. We never see the fallout of this with Saul bc the context didn’t exist yet when Breaking Bad aired but getting the “I shot Mike” call probably added another burden of guilt on top of everything else he had weighing on him
so ummm welcome to my jar:) lemme show you around! theres some holes poked in the top so i can breathe, theres some leaves to munch on, and ive even got a twig! #mytwig

Imagine getting expelled from school for being an atheist and years later that school builds a monument to you but of your dead drowned corpse with your dick out.
They do it all classy though but still
foreshadowing done well makes me go feral like there’s NOTHING better than getting to the end a book or an important storyline moment and realising that the author laced information so intricately into their writing that weren’t noticeable upon first read but when you read back sections they’re light giant red flags like wow writing is amazing
My favorite moment is the split second where it clicks and you really didn’t see it coming but you look back and all the hints and clues are there, the whole book has been leading you to this inevitable conclusion. You had some vague idea but you wouldn’t have guessed This.

Pterosaurs soared the skies for 160 million years, from sparrow-sized insect hunters to giants that stood as tall as a giraffe. Until now nobody had put all of them in one book.
Pterosaurs: The Field Guide catalogues 252 species, each with original art, a size comparison, and where and when it lived. Every illustration painted by a human being, no generative AI.
It funded on Kickstarter on day one and runs through August.

at the start of every month everyone reblogs some insane poetry that’s like “august has arrived and again I swallow my bones in the burning sun” and every time I’m like damn that makes no sense. but kind of true.

"The Kiss", a 12,000-year-old rock painting at Pedra Furada in Brazil
The prehistoric inhabitants of what we now call Serra da Capivara, Piauí, Brazil, painted two human figures on stone that today are known as The Kiss ("O Beijo" in Portuguese) (Guidon, 1992; Lourdeau, 2019) (Figure 1). As the intimate and sincere expression of affection between people, the simple kiss puts us on an advanced level of civilization, as individuals who are capable of appreciating and portraying such a human gesture with delicacy. Nothing could be further than the image of the prehistoric troglodyte man who drags his woman by the hair with one hand and holds a club in the other. The Kiss of Serra da Capivara is almost symmetrical, arms and hands are not needed. A less romantic interpretation, but by no means less humanistic, is that the figure on the right leans to place chewed food into the mouth of a child or elderly person.

It's the Royal Academy of Art Young Artist's Summer Show. One of my favourite exhibitions of the year. Like. Not only are the older kids insanely talented, the younger ones' artist statements will just punch you right in the face.

jesse meets mike in the season 2 finale, when he helps clean up after jane's death. he doesn't see him again until 3x12, when mike knocks on his car window and says to come with him.
imagine how he felt at that moment. he doesn't know mike is gus's guy, as far as i remember. a specter from jane's death just appears in front of him with no explanation.
