What's up with the wings?

‐ Roger is the only one out of the PF group to have wings

Notes on the pages and additional commentary typed out below the cut....

- Mother and brother = Earth

- Father = Pegasus -> sort of isolates him

- Father moved down to live with Earth mom, therefore increasing the gap between him (Roger) and other pegasi/sense of self

- Big piece of him

Character Design Keys

- Nick & David = Earth ponies -> down to earth, humble, chill

- Rick & Syd = Unicorn -> Bring magic to the music & take it away when they die

- Roger = Pegasus -> Isolates him from friends & family. The only big connection he has to another pegasus is his father. He already lsot him as a foal, so he lost piece of his pegasus identity. Talks about it to cope.

* I think it would actually be better for Roger not to get his cutie mark around the DSoTM era. When he realizes that "this is life" and it's happening, and he finds his place in making meaningful music, that's when he finally gets it.

- It isn't shown here but I also drafted Syd as alicorn. He was very important to all the band members of The Floyd and had a certain charm to him. I decided not to go down that route so 1. He could have a better connection with Rick and 2. I don't think having and killing a whole royal deity fits much into PF.

- I also considered making Syd a pegasus to make it even more tragic for Roger.. but that made it too Roger-centric. The idea was that he's the only pegasus of his family and close community, his father was drafted into war and died, and Syd was the only other pegasus he came across among the earth ponies. His loss of self and eventual death would add another brick to Roger's wall.

- I've seen a lot of comments about how there's no Pink Floyd without Rick, and ai agree with that sentiment. I also think that there's no Pink Floyd without Nick.. since he's literally the ONLY band member to have been in it from THE VERY BEGINNING TO THE VERY END... he's so chill ofc he's an earth pony. But anyways, that's why I think Rick and Syd can relate in that way. There's respect for their deaths and a reverence for their creativity, so their truly were magical.

- I didn't really draw much of David or Rick. Or anyone's cutie marks, really. So there'll be a future post with clearer cutiemark concepts and pony designs. I think Dave could look pretty cool as a yellow pony. When thet post will come? Uhhhh......
