Self-healing

I’d like to bring up personal blogs, the ones where people going through depression, eating disorders and other mental health matters in their life write about their experiences publicly.

I would have gone through years thinking I was on my own if I hadn’t found honest personal blogs online from people my own age. I wouldn't share anything about what I was going through but I would try to find answers online as a teen. Blogs I came across made me think These people are so brave, I couldn't do that, I couldn't handle the criticism I'd get if I shared my darkest thoughts with anyone. As you can see from my thinking then, I was putting fellow depressed people 'above' myself, my negative thought patterns made me feel Inferior and fearful about anything.

I've proven to myself that I can handle negative or unhelpful comments from other people by not spending much thought and energy on them. Having someone say "snap out of it" or "What do you have to be depressed about?" is just moronic to me, trying to educate people with that kind of attitude is a waste of my precious time and my dogs should probably poop on their property.

I think that being open and honest about problems online can be a positive thing but a lot of personal blogs can be very dark. If you are looking at things negatively a lot of the time - it can easily turn into all of the time where you can't see any good at all even if it is right there in front of you.
