I do think the post that's like "when they torture you to insanity and then torture you for being insane 😂🤣" is one of the most succinct and foundational analyses of interpersonal violence and conflict that had ever been written

Let's create an elaborate roleplay scenario where everything doesn't fall apart until I tell it to
Thatch original flavor (Seraph), and their sinister handedness
This tweet means a lot to me.
It’s probably a really cool and good sign that this post I made in 2014 is going around again, right?

Porcelain and Glass Sculpture 2004 by Bonnie Seeman
The Goblin Throne Part III page 40 is up! Today's page: seeing clearly.
We're in the final week of the Kickstarter! We're just about $1500 shy of the next stretch goal, too. If you've been following this messy goblin-divorce-horror comic and enjoying it, this is the best way to help support the book :)
How are my sweetie pees
I Said How The Fuck Are My Fucking Sweetie Pees
i love following people with kinks I don’t have because somtimes I’m like
reading the wiki for the american psycho movie every single thing it’s saying about christian bale has me in tears …….. he literally wanted the role so bad he got that buff in two weeks, rejected every other offer for 9 months while the producers tried to get dicaprio to be patrick bateman bc bale knew dicaprio would chicken out, went to dinner with the director and the guy who wrote the novel IN CHARACTER apparently scaring the shit out of the novelist, took the role for $50k, and then made all his costars think he was a giant freak bc he never fucking broke character, and APARENTLY LITERALLY HAS CONTROL OVER HIS SWEAT GLANDS AND USED THIS IN THE BUSINESS CARD SCENE
ok thanks for the info wiki
Hey Paul!
It brings me comfort that, for a brief moment, Jared Leto genuinely believed Christian Bale was going to kill him with an axe

So this is not a plea for money. This is something that surprised me, and chatting with people on discord, they were unaware of as well.
Discovered last year I couldn’t look at my 2015 MacBook Air without it triggering nausea and migraines, and figured the screen died. Have been getting by on my phone, but concluded I really need a laptop again.
Saved up, realised I could afford a brand new MacBook Neo, and got one.
-And I couldn’t spend more than five minutes looking at the screen without massive eye strain, nausea, vertigo, and if I pushed it, I-need-to-lie-down-in-a-dark-room-for-hours migraines.
Looking up MacBook and Eyestrain explained what is going on. The liquid retina displays that Apple currently has uses Pulse Width Modulation or PWM. In order to give the screens a deeper depth of colour and contrast, PWM flickers between several hundred to thousand times a second.
And there is currently no way to turn it off. There are settings and apps to reduce it, but there is no way to stop the screen from flickering. Checked Apple forums, called Apple Support, and the time I could look at the screen kept shrinking. Got the laptop Tuesday, returned it Friday, today is Sunday and I’m still dealing with a vertigo migraine.
For MacBooks, it seems to vary on the computer model and the software it uses. In retrospect, the issue with my MacBook Air started after a major software update.
And it’s not just an Apple thing. Current Windows and Android screens do the same thing. There’s even a Reddit for people who are sensitive to PWM flickers to help find computers and screens that won’t trigger eyestrain and headaches.
So, yeah. This week has been a learning experience. But for those who are prone to headaches and migraines, this may be something to be aware of, cause I was not.
Something I've noticed over the years is that I get very similar reactions when I tell people I don't drink or that I'm ace.
A sort of initial surprise, a need for clarification. And then some selection or combination of a) an insistence I'm wrong/lying, b) defensiveness, or c) anger.
And I think there are a lot of underlying reasons for those responses, many of which are probably difficult to untangle But I think some part is that people feel judged, even when i'm just neutrally stating my own preferences.
This can probably happen any time someone admits they're not interested in something you are, even stuff as innocuous as a sports team or media genre. But alcohol and sex in particular... These are topics with very strong but contradictory associations within society. To be cool, you're supposed to have sex/drink-- but only the Right Way, with the Right People. Otherwise it's "cringe" at best, "immoral" at worst. More than that, what counts as the Right Way, and the Right People, will vary from (sub-)culture to (sub-)culture, which means you're trying to adhere to a set of "rules" that is ever changing, ever shifting.
I do not believe that. I believe that both sex and drinking are, in of themselves, morally neutral acts. I believe that you can do immoral things with(in) them (e.g. Sexual assault, driving under the influence). I think there are possible health impacts you should be aware of before engaging with them (e.g. the risk of STIs or liver disease, etc), and that there are precautions people might want to consider to minimize those risks. But that's the true of frankly every activity, to a greater or lesser extent.
People who get uncomfortable about my asexuality and non-drinking rarely ask me my attitudes, and won't be particularly receptive to my attempts to clarify them. I suspect that's because they haven't actually interrogated these attitudes themselves. They are still harbouring internalised guilt, that sense on some level that drinking and sexuality are wrong.
In other words, they're feeling judged, but not because I am judging them. But because my simple act of abstaining from them is making them suddenly acutely aware that engaging with sex or alcohol is a Choice. In doing, it confronts them with a fact that it's a choice they're making. And if on some level they think they should be making a different one... they get defensive, angry, or judgemental in turn.
alright I think these are all the best ones

I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. He’s like the mayor character in a cartoon who’s always dressed as The Mayor. If I didn’t know who he was and he biked past me in NYC I’d be like holy shit was that the mayor
Not to bring the serious to a very fun post, but this reaction is exactly what Mamdani is working for with his image, because in a very real way the most effective way for him to be The Mayor is if he looks like The Mayor.
This is a man who is VIOLENTLY aware that when it comes to conservatives, he is a Muslim first, a Brown Man second, an Immigrant third, a Socialist fourth, and a human a very distant fifth, if considered at all. He was also a young adult during the Obama Years and will have seen Republicans rip Obama to shreds for wearing a tan suit instead of a dark one and use literally ANY excuse they could to try and degrade his image.
Despite the fact that a mayor who wears a T-shirt and jeans might "seem more approachable" in the eyes of the average American, Zohran Mamdani knows that someone with his profile fundamentally cannot get away with that the way his White colleagues can. He has instead put in the effort to look professional and BE approachable, because not only does it make it easier for him to reach and represent his constituents, it forces everyone, including both his opponents and establishment Democrats, to engage with the work he is doing instead of judging his image. The fact that he is always seen in a suit and is recognisably The Mayor is, while also something he has fun with, a deliberate choice to ensure he is as inarguably A Professional Politician To Be Taken Seriously. The added humour of e.g. the hi-vis is a bonus, only achievable because he works so hard to Look Like The Mayor.
