May 19, 2015::: And finally, the 3rd project - I am delighted to report that the #reConnectQuilt has been accepted by Figment Festival this year! 🙌 To be erected and completed by attendees on Governors Island NYC June 6th - 7th. Doing this again with #filmmaker Daniel Maldonado (@gashousefilms). We will build a #TentTheater attached to the quilt, where we"ll screen film shorts on both days. (We first did this in 2013 with Art for Progress at Solar One Park). Been toiling away making all the parts for the past couple weeks also while Daniel toilsbin editing. Very excited for this, it's a festival I've loved going to for years. Pure baccanal of happy interactive #AliceInWonderland kind of art, with performance and mixed media installations, creative games, outdoor yoga, sound sculptures, live music and DJ madness, etc and yum! A kitchy weird but super cute version of what Burning Man used to be. Lol 😃. It's good for the brain too to make light community based #happyart and to depart a bit from all the brooding stuff. 😅 Glad to be a part of this. 🙏This concludes my posts for the day. May 19, 2015::: So the work continues on those miniature photo transfers I posted last month. Got 16 of these babies ready for a show at #HewittGallery #NYC #MMC. Opens May 29th - Sept 18. Delivered to the gallery yesterday with a couple other pieces printed on aluminum and canvas. We'll see how many make it to the wall. They are part of a new body of miniatures - "Closer: A Series of Intimacies". I felt like rebelling against the 'go bigger' religion of the arts. Make it small and intimate instead and test how that can dominate a space. Play at Work | In Studio: Despite foot injury tales I've also been back in studio creating work for 3 new opportunities. It took getting the flu however to start sharing more tho...from bed. 😁 Got a few complex things going on so will do my best to explain. I have this custom rope/chord thing that I've been using for a few years in my installation work, and decided to play with it on myself too. Braid on #braids if you will. Made from #hemp and cotton twine. So that's the playtime foto you see here. Will be incorporated into a #phototransfer #lightbox later. 😆 The last (solo) show I did in Jamaica - #CocooningCatharsis at #HiQoGallery, featured a #cocoon I made out of #burlap and #coconut #coire hanging from an upside down tree. Yeah. 😉. It was meant to represent a cocoon holding the children of #Mnemosyne...the #NineMuses. It's been hard for me and my team to reproduce it because we can't find more soft burlap. So - walking around in a shop I found coire shaped bowls!!
