This is how I sort through my cc to downsize stuff I don't use! Or stuff that came with other stuff and I'm like.... What the hell is even this. It helps me see if I have cc that is too similar or ones I might have doubles of (same cc converted by different people).
I make a new lot and place all my cc section by section (this time I did comfort and surfaces) so I can see them all and compare.
This time around I also went through a lot of my walls and floors and placed whichever ones I don't want.
I delete anything I DO want to keep, leaving the stuff I don't want.
Then I package the lot (ignore my mansion drowning in pink soup you don't see that), close the game and navigate to the PackagedLots folder. I open the file up with Sims2Pack Clean Installer, which lists all of the cc in the lot so I can go through my Downloads folders and delete them.
So, Paralives
On the one hand: I am excited that they seem to think ahead for customizability On the other hand: Not in the market for spending any money on video games this summer / still setting up TS2 the way I want it. (Commit to running a quasi-historical / low tech non european neighborhood and start driving yourself insane, it's fun!)
On the third, mutant hand: waiting until people are deep into gameplay to make sure there's more to do on launch than dating and career in the very pretty Young Adult Simulator
WIP: use inaccessible dining booth
I'm gonna need some help playtesting this one. Hit me with issues and conflict reports 🤓
So, this is a global mod for booths!
At restaurants, sims can now enter dining booths decorated with OMSPs or shiftable clutter, which was a problem before (for @gummilutt anyway 😏)
At home, sims can now successfully serve, eat and clean up dishes in inaccessible parts of tables with dining booths. They will jump in and out of booths or crawl under the table when they can't scoot over normally, for example, when all entry seats are occupied by other sims
They will be able to reach plates in the far corners to clean them or put away
Download for testing Night Life may be required? Not sure if there are booths in other EPs
Conflicts - Tableware Setter (a.k.a. table_setter) - let UseInaccessibleDiningBooth load after it, and they'll both work fine - Older versions of Helpers_AssignTablesChairs, updated today one tiny thing to make them compatible
Recommended Inge's -Is Chair a Booth- global patch - lets your game recognize custom booth chairs
I'm obsessed with these booths now, they are so fun and detailed! Have you seen the under the table animation when there's available entry seat and sims try to reach another blocked seat? ❤️
So, like, while I'm talking about me pushing my game to its limits, does anyone have any idea why some of my sims have started emitting flowers constantly? Like the Night Life perfume effect, but they haven't used perfume? And it persists even when I remove all my CC?
For anyone dying for an update on the flower plague, I'm still not sure what's caused it but it stopped when I gave up, played for a little bit, and took some stuff she bought from community lots out of her inventory. I don't know if that's what made it go away or if it stopped before I took the stuff from her inventory and I didn't notice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@pforestsims shared a link in the comments to their invisible default of the perfume effect, and I am definitely saving it for future need.

I totally have a turn-on/off replacement (Midgethetree's) and all the sims that caught the Flower Plague this time know a life skill, which is the cologne replacement in that particular replacement.
The moral of this reblog chain is you should pay better attention to your mod collection than I do. 👍
I'm just baffled. By the idea that the game checks turn-ons to to figure out if a sim has cologne. Maxis why?

Modding Tutorials by Pick´N´Mix
If you want to learn modding, I highly recommend William’s tutorials 👍 He has a nice and clear style of explaining things, a pleasure to watch.
Videos are packed full of useful info bits, will answer many questions about reading BHAVs and help you grasp the general structure of object coding. These two are more broad, there are other tutorials that cover more specific topics as well.
On a side note, @picknmixsims hearing you say that you’re bad at labeling your code cracked me up. Sooo relatable! I’ve become too lazy to label variables and params. I do constants, since they are pretty useless otherwise. Attributes to keep sane. But to go and create labels for BHAVs, nah. I feel so much better all of a sudden 😁

Because my PC is currently out of commission thanks to filesystem and probably hard drive issues and to keep myself sane, I should probably just write out some random things about Sims 2 modding, eh?
If you're wondering about how to do anything Sims 2 modding, the answer will probably be found in an old MTS thread from 2008
If it can't be found on MTS, find a modder to ask. We're around and know stuff
Take naps, get some food. Modding is brain work, let it recover.
Most zoomed in thumbnails in deco are from people cloning the fruit bowl and it's easy to fix. Just go into the CRES, go to ThumbnailExtension and delete that entry you see in there. Commit, fix integrity, save and recompressorize
When modifying the footprint, you can also go up instead of just on the x and y axis.
You can make columns higher than 3 stories. I did it twice, then somehow forgot how. Anyways, just clone the ones from my Prince of Persia conversions if you want 4 or 5 story columns. They work as intended and all.
Just clone your NH deco from custom. Everybody does it bc NH deco is unfindable via Object Workshop
Don't give your NH deco a long name when cloning because it gets added in front of the name if the one you cloned it from. It can get out of control very fast.
NH deco doesn't usually need its GUID changed when you clone it
You can fiddle around with where your NH deco can and cannot be placed and how it behaves on/in water
The real description of NH deco is in the text lists
You can texture reference basically anything with a TXMT including objects and NH deco. You can even combine it with repository for Ultimate Space Savings
If your object texture is white and covered in text, your texture name in your txmt is misspelled or your txtr has gone missing.
The Sims 2 sometimes handles 3D coordinates reversed. (-1 is 1, 2 is -2). It's relevant for slots, bones and TXMT's
Pixelhate's wonderful TXMT pdf's are wrong about one thing and that is texture animations. It's all about the UV maps
Some BHAVs are 0-indexed, some aren't. 0 is either treated as the first number or non-existent oopsie error
Just screenshot your BHAV and annotate every node if you're not sure how it works
You can label your locals and params. There's a button in the BHAV editor to make labels. Use it to keep track of things
Don't check "university ready" when fixing integrity. It breaks custom animations for one.
Some of these deserve more explanation, but that requires energy and a file system that isn't malfunctioning. Enjoy!
EDIT: Bonus tip: don't be me. Make a regular backup. Once a month or smth. File systems can get messed up which will make things disappear including my Homecrafter

Functional Butterfly (& Firefly) Habitat + Caterpillar Incubator
I fell in love with these 4t2 conversions by @tvickiesims at first sight and just had to make functional versions.
When your sim manages to catch butterflies or fireflies, they can be moved from the jar to this habitat. Insects housed in the habitat will stay alive; if the habitat is outdoors, they will hibernate if the temperature drops below freezing.
Each habitat can house 3 batches of butterflies and 3 batches of fireflies, counted separately. You can make space for new batches by releasing the insects from the habitat.
The caterpillar incubator provides an alternate way to get butterflies. Stocking the incubator costs §18, after which you can watch the caterpillars evolve into adult butterflies over the following days.
Be cautious about leaving adult butterflies in the incubator, as they won't survive there forever. The butterflies can be either moved to a habitat or released into the wild.
If an incubator is outdoors and the temperature drops below freezing, the metamorphosis will stop progressing, unless it's already finished, in which case the adult butterflies will die.
Sims can view occupied incubators and habitats, autonomously too. Cats might find them interesting as well. About everything gives nature enthusiasm, and all interactions are available children up.

Date flowers expire
Are your serial daters running the risk of drowning in flowers? Does it not seem quite right to just sell them? Do you question why there's even a market for second hand date roses in the sims world? Well boy does my sim Maja Sernman have the solution for you! The Sernman Group is opening a florist near you where you too can procure 100% authentic flowers that actually age! Insect-proof, compost friendly, bio-degradable flowers for you, and you, and all of you!
Inspired by @kashmiresims, and with a little help from some friends, I bring you my first mod of 2026.
Features
- After 7 days flowers will go old, using a new texture by Epi. By default a dialogue pops up, and camera will zoom to show to the rose.
- A new interaction to throw away flowers, that routes to the nearest trash can. By default the sim will think about who sent the rose, and roses can be thrown away anytime.
- Storytelling debug interactions for setting recipient/sender, make fresh/expire, pick text option (see below)
- Buyable date rewards, which thanks to debug interactions can be set up correctly. Now your sim can give extra, if they want to! You'll find them in deco/misc, prices are 5, 5, 15 and 55 simoleons (unchanged from original).
- Optional text default! Maxis intended date rewards to have 4 possible writings, but then they just duplicated the same text. I restored this to the intended mechanic and spruced up the writing. To give you a variety in style and personality, @kashmiresims @episims @nikkasimms and I have all written one entry for each of the four different date rewards with writing (bouquet, single flower, love letter, hate letter). Edit friendly, you can add more text options if you want to.
- Highly BCON tunable. Features can be turned on or off, some are active by default, some are not. See read me for more info.
NOTE!!! This requires Date Rewards by Color Traits by Episims and PForestsims. It uses their base texture, and will look extremely weird without their mesh default. Must load after!! Roses will error on expiration if load order is wrong, which erases sender/recipient info, so please make sure you get load order right if you care about your existing roses. Debug interactions can restore if error did happen, if you know who sender/recipient were.
Download from simfileshare (Update: If you were among the 10 first to download, please grab again! I had missed love letters use a different BCON than the rest, which resulted in an error when a new reward is delivered. I have fixed it now.)
Conflicts: Must load after color trait date rewards. Will conflict with anything that alters pie menu and dialogues of date rewards. Adds new code to date reward semi global. Use HCDU+ to verify if you have other mods that alter date rewards.
Credits: Kashmiresims for the wonderful idea to have roses go old, @pforestsims for their beautiful mesh and base texture that @episims did a great job turning aged. I am aware red roses don't look like this when dried out, but I wanted them to still look nice if a sentimental sim wants to keep them anyway and Epi was kind enough to do what I asked :3 Charmful, Nikka and Epi for helping me write new text. @lamare-sims and @tvickiesims for brainstorming with me at the start and helping me decide on dried out rather than rotten flowers :3

🤒 Plugin for Maxis "MakeMeSick" Tester
In debug mode, you can shift-click a Sim to spawn the MakeMeSick- Tester and infect them with Maxis diseases. It’s incredibly useful for ROS (Random Occurrence Scenario) gameplay and other shenanigans.
However, the vanilla tester is missing the Mysterious Disease, and it doesn't support any of the available custom diseases.
This plugin fixes that! And is part 1 of a bigger health related gameplay mod I am working on ;)
✨ The Updates:
New Infections: Adds the Mysterious Disease, which was missing from the original tool.
2. Now supports custom diseases from the community:
STD (by Chris Hatch) or its replacement The Great Pox by @hodgekiss
Adult Weakness & Elder’s Cough within @lamare-sims Random Death & Sickness mod.
Carbon Simoxide Poisoning from @lamare-sims gas generator.
3. Age Groups: STD option will not show up for Children. Lamare’s "Adult Weakness" can be given to Children and Teens, too (called "Weakness").
4. New Visuals: Changed the object model to the ingame Chemistry Sculpture.
5. Placement: Adjusted the Init BHAV so it is now placeable on all surfaces.
6. Localization Fix: Corrected the text string from "the Flue" to "the Flu" for non-english games.
⚠️ Important Requirements
The tester only triggers the initial infection! You must have the original mods by Chris Hatch (or @hodgekiss) or @lamare-sims installed for the costum diseases to progress in your game. That includes spreading around the STD via Woohoo. Mysterious diseases do work without an additional mod.
