I stand corrected: the SSD arrived. A day late, but it got there. It took me a while, but I now have a functioning new PC I built myself!
The only new things about it are the SSD and the cooling paste. Now I just gotta empty a USB drive so I can make a WintoUSB drive. I need it for updating SSD firmware.
After that: time to put Linux on the new machine, set up some basics and start setting up programs and transferring files and stuff.

Soooo my Sun&Moon simpe working folder just kinda.... Got corrupt?
Like the subfolders inside of there seem to be accessible, but not the folder itself so I got a bunch of orphaned files floating around. Just happened today. Yesterday it was fine. I have backups. Not super recent, I think, but yhe majority of the stuff should be okay.
I'm now running windows recovery environment to get my C chkdsk'ed because of course it didn't want to do it during booting because of "software changes" and windows revovery didn't want to recover because "disk errors". Anyways, lots of index entries getting yeeted. Hopefully that'll make it workable again.
Hope, pray and uhh do a funky lil dance or smth for my drive.
I'll have to go looking for some hardware to build a new pc and switch to linux while I'm at it. I'm surrounded by linux nerds at work, so at least that shouldn't be too hard.
So anyways I think I will have to build a new PC. Current one is not dead yet, but it is throwing hissy fits that make it difficult to do pretty much anything. It had the nerve to spontaneously yeet homecrafter among other things.
I'm already a partial linux user, but I will be switching over to Linux for desktop too.
I found my FOUND.000/001/002 folders on my disk using a Mint boot usb and well, 15+ GB of "found" data. Once I get another (external) disk to copy my files to, I will see if I can get everything back to its proper place.
My windows files were confirmed to be damaged and well, considering the sheer amount of read errors the disk showed in CrystalDisk (millions, despite SMART values being okay), I'm not booting into it anymore unless I absolutely have to.
So I acquired some old hard drives for a euro a piece and the idea is to go experiment with (more) linux distros to see which one I would like to spend a lot of time with. Ubuntu is fine and all, but I just kinda dislike GNOME.
Sooo the laptop I'm doing this with (no way I'm letting ABAN anywhere near my Sims files) s throwing lil hissy fits and refuses to boot into a live usb after something went wrong with secure boot on a mint live disk. So spoiler alert: I've set up Arch on a disk and ofc the laptop threw a hissy fit when it was time to install the bootloader.
It should now be installing a BIOS update at Windows 10 typical slug speed 😒. Fingers crossed it'll stop freaking out on me
And since I was too tired to post it yesterday: I somehow managed to install grub this time, but it had the nerve to throw grub rescue mode at me when trying to boot into the shiny new arch!
At this point I think I should attempt to make a Windows 7 Recovery disk from my old drive and see if I can get the tater up and running again with that
Somehow my windows laptop is incapable of tunning a linux install. Something something BIOS, read-only nvram and throwing big hissy fits when booting. I would've installed Arch succesfully was it not for the hardware.
Speaking of: I've started acquiring some second hand parts. With those hardware prices nowadays no way I'm buying new unless I have to. Even so, I'll still probably be paying 200 euros minimum for 32 gigs of DDR5 RAM! World's gone mad, I swear
I can tell you it was more than 200 euros for 32 gigs of RAM. Still cheaper than buying new, but urghhh, it's not fun.
Anyways, I've been going on second-hand hardware retrieval quests, one of which took me qcross the border. At time of writing I'm lugging my bicycle to the other end of the country (by rail) so I can pick up the case. I just need an SSD, monitor and some cooling paste now. Then as soon as my cooler comes in; it's time to build.
I may put Fedora on one of my spinny disks and see how it behaves in the linux brick. If it works better than Ubuntu with its dreadful GNOME....
So, when it was absolutely confirmed that the TS2 Object Limit does indeed exist, I panicked a little inside. After being unconvinced about this 'alleged' limit for many years (sorry @teaaddictyt!) my themed game has accumulated a huge amount of CC, which means a large number of OBJD's. Which is now a problem, because of said confirmed object limit!
Looking through my buy catalogues, I found many deco objects had multiple tiles in their footprint, often unnecessarily. Plus, multi-tile object means the item can't be placed on an OMSP. So after reading through Huge Lunatic's fabulous Reducing GUIDS/OBJDs Tutorial, I set to work, starting with my rug category!
Kativip has a great rug mesh as part of her Skyrim Objects set. But it has a 2-tile footprint and no recolours. I have fixed both!
Kativip's SK Rug is now a single tile object, with the bonus of having been object relocated from Deco-Misc to Deco-Rugs (because that just makes sense!). The rug mesh remains priced at $100.
But I wanted needed some more recolours! So I pulled the textures from some of my favourite fur rug sets, which not only means more recolours on the one mesh, but you can also remove the other superfluous rug meshes from your game, further reducing the number of OBJD's you have!
First up is Tye's Wolf Rug & Bear Rug, from their Oblivion Middle Class set. These rugs were each on their own multi-tile mesh, neither of which are required any longer! They are shown above with the texture of Kativip's original SK Rug.
Next up is Riekus13's Furs, Pelts & Hides from their Skinner Set at PBK. These were originally on SIP's Living 5 Rug, which is no longer required.
And finally, Lady Lama at The Medieval Smithy included the above textures on her wall hanging as part of The Druid's Set. These seemed a natural add on to the texture of Kativip's SK Rug, so now you can also have matching wall and floor furs!
Files are all compressed, and you can choose to download the recolours either merged or unmerged (mesh has not been merged with recolours and is available in both download options). Preview pics and clearly labelled swatches are included in the folder.
Download Niamh's Fireside Fur Rugs - Merged
Download Niamh's Fireside Fur Rugs - Unmerged
If you run into any issues with these textures, please let me know!
Bonus additional pictures using the Skyrim textures:

More random Sims and modding stuff because I still don't have a functioning PC (yet):
Everything in The Sims 2 is objects. Sims are objects, objects are objects, interactions and tokens are objects. It's all objects and if you're clever enough you can run object's A code on object B
Keep track of Temp 0 when working on BHAV's. A lot of primitives and (semi)globals will store data in it so store it in a local or 3 when you do a lot with temp 0. When the needed data is put in temp 0, transfer it to a local or just anything that isn't temp 0
If you're putting temp 0 into param x, remember that the temp 0 being used when param x is being utilized in your BHAV, is not the temp 0 as it was when you called that BHAV, but temp 0 as its current state in the stack. Simply said: if in BHAV A, temp 0 is 45 and you call BHAV B inside of BHAV A, then if you then do some data operations that use temp 0 and change it to 36, then when you call param x after doing so, the temp 0 represented by param x isn't 45 but 36 (this would work better as illustration). Aka: using a temp as a param, means your param behaves the same as any temp. Param x := temp 0 means "param x is just temp 0 wearing a fake mustache"
The Sims 2 uses a temperature range between -100 and 100 and using a lua call, you can retrieve the current temperature and use it for your own evil purpose
When using the manage inventory prim, be sure to clear the index when looping through
You can totally just work out your BHAV on paper when your pc is shitting bricks
You can have more than 4 params for a BHAV, you just can't configure them using the wizard so it's not that useful in practice
Motive decay modifiers are most often configured using code that came with FT, so it's not MAC-compatible
Test your code on Anygamestarter running a Super Collection configuration if you can get it to work.
Use EP checks to make things MAC-Compatible
Trouble resetting a Sim? Are they having weird stuck SFX and are they on their home lot? moveobjects on, delete the Sim, save and reload the lot. The Sim will show back up. I used to use it as a type of "maxmotives" back when I only had the Basegame. It works.
Use expression Graphic and the Refresh prim to change an object's visuals by pointing them to other Scenegraph resources. Honestly worth a tutorial. It's cool

I needed a few storage solutions for my workshops so I made some.
Here are two new objects (both take their textures from the BG Independant Inc. Easel and will pick any recolors you have for it).
Single Storage Shelf. One tile. 36 deco slots. 892 polys. Costs 89$. Categorized as Surface > Shelf.
Double Storage Shelf. Two tiles. 84 deco slots. 1012 polys. Costs 149$. Categorized as Surface > Shelf.
Both can be used for businesses but you won't be able to set the price of all objects on it at once with the Set Price tool like you can do with OFB shelves : you have to set the price of all objects one by one (but it also means you can sell the shelves themselves !).
I also made a random recolor of the BG Independant Inc. Easel for testing purpose and I quite like it in the end so I'm also sharing it.
I love me some good all purpose storage shelves, even better if they're repositoried! The two tile one actually reminds me so much of a shelf I have irl <3

Continuing with my love of Sun & Moon items and textures, I have texture DR'd Omglo's Control Dining Plate & Bowl Colours.
The swatch I have used includes textures from Sun & Moon's Wooden Wonders & Forging On sets. They also compliment my Metal Forged Dish Defaults.
This texture pack only changes the colour of the meal plates and bowls. The serving-ware will retain the vanilla Maxis texture or whatever default you have in your game. This can be seen in the picture below, where the serving bowl retains the my metal dish default, but the eating bowls are using the wood colour.
Now, on to the colours!
The Lower Class recolours include Wood (Incendiary) and Dark Metal.
*The lighter Metal in the middle is my Metal Forged Dish Default and not included in this texture package.
The Middle Class Recolours include Copper & Silver.
The Upper Class Recolours include Copper, Silver & Gold.
My download only contains the texture pack, so you must download the following file from Mod The Sims:
MTS_omglo_2011905_Dish-Color-Choice-saucer.zip
Place the following files in to your Downloads folder: zzzBowl-Color-Choice and zzzPlate-Color-Choice.
Then, delete the Dish-TexturePack.package and replace with the one in my file.
Download Niamh's Dish Texture Pack
And if anyone wants to take a crack at adding another 2 or 3 options to the controller, that would be amazing! 7 is not near enough and I'd love 9 or 10 options!
It is no secret that I am a big fan of Sun & Moon. So, back when they released tableware sets as part of their Forging On set, I promptly started decorating all of my lots with them.
However, I recently decided I needed to update my plate and bowl defaults, and the metal textures from Sun & Moon were perfect replacement.
Using @episim's file as a base, I have used the light metal texture from the lower class tableware set. I decided on this texture as it is fairly generic and would cover a range of class stations & historical eras.
Shown below with the lower class tableware set from Sun & Moon's Forging On set with @clstldrmr83's Celtic Cuisine Food DR's:
And then I thought that maybe the toddler bowl could do with a gussy up, so...
Again, because I love Sun & Moon sets, I am also a fan of their Toddler Treats set. I have recoloured the toddler bowl that toddlers are given from the fridge when they are in their high chair with a dark wood recolour that (almost) matches the Toddler Treats converter.
Toddler bowl DR with porridge toddler meal for comparison.
As with any default replacement, you can only have one of each type. Please ensure you remove any plate/bowl and toddler bowl defaults you have before installing these ones.

Spaik's Brick Patio Super Set Repo'd to BB's Niche
Anon request. This set was very similar to BB's Niche, the main texture was even identical, but BB's has way more recolors and add-ons (probably because it was free and T$R stuff used to be paywalled). I ran the set through the Repo Wizard and they now pull textures from BB's Niche. They all work with the quarter tile cheat and are found in the columns categories. Guids and filenames are the same

Life hack for The Sims 2! (credit to crosimmer on twitter!)
Hi! I’m BoltCore and welcome to my blog! So i was scrolling on twitter and then saw a post by crosimmer saying that you can skip the selecting main menu for the sims 2! So with this your game will just load the hood you want or the lot you want! I think this was introduced for testing purposes and also for showing the demo version of the game at E3 or such!
To “tell” the game to skip the menu and instantly load the hood you wish you just need the game’s shortcut! Then Right-click on the shortcut and go to the target line! Should look like this:
At the target line, press spacebar once and type: (with the “-”)
Then click apply and you can close the window then open the shortcut to see the results! :D
(note that this dosent work with subhoods, only main hoods!)
But that’s not all! You can also load a specific lot! to do that you have to specify the lot adress! For example,to load the goth family you have to type:
-load:“N001;165 Sim Lane” and yes in a lot case you need to put the quotes before the hood s name and after the lot’s name!!!
You can also load CAS (Create-a-Sim) too!,for pleasantview type load:“N001;CAS!” ,the same rule applies!
Again crosimmer is a legend in the sims community <3 xoxo
Anyways i hope you find this quite helpful ! if you have questions please ask!
