Once Again – Cancelled all of a sudden. RIP.

I love when messy shows are well written. It leaves so much room for analysis/discussion. Since a lot of the gl fandom seems to be allergic to nuance and complex characters, I want to talk about Air next.

While I am Team Loft, I love Air, I think she's a sympathetic character 90% of the time and not the villain some say she is. I once saw someone say PureAir are what Sammon would have been if the evil granny got her way, and I think that's an apt description.

Air suffers from an illness common to thai gl mcs "people pleasing daughter of overbearing/abusive" parents syndrome. From the little I've heard of thai culture, I know there's a lot of emphasis placed on familial connections. With that in mind, I don't blame her for breaking up with Pure and marrying Lamp.

She'd recently lost her father and was likely in a vulnerable state of mind. Then her shitty mother tells her she has to marry Lamp or they'll be ruined financially. She had already lost one parent, and now she risked losing the other one, her family's reputation and her standard of living. It makes sense for her to marry Lamp. Many people in her position would do the same thing.

Her situation with Lamp is much more complicated. On my first watch through, I thought Lamp was an entitled man who deluded himself into thinking he could force Air to love him. After rewatching their episode three argument, I see that Air led him to believe she did love him. It was probably a direction from her mother to let him think she loved him, so he'll be willing to marry her and clear up the debt.

If that's the case, then what Air did was terrible. She was coerced, but she still knowingly played with that mans feelings. Then, after she got what she wanted, she switched up and started treating him coldly. I can understand why Lamp had trouble letting go. It must have been devastating to think he was starting a new life with someone he loved just to find out that she was using him for money while running back to her ex.

Still, I do think Lamp should love and respect himself enough to leave that woman alone. I empathize with his situation but at some point he has to take responsibility for himself. No one is chaining him to Air. He can and should leave.

I feel the same way about Air. I feel for her but at the end of the day she made her choice. It was understandable why she did but at the end of the day she chose to leave Pure. There were other options. She chose the most comfortable one even though she knew it would make her miserable. That shouldn't give her the right to emotionally terrorize Pure for years on end.

Pure isn't innocent and she definitely has a role in their toxic dynamic that I will get to at a later date. However that does not detract from just how terrible Air treats her. She ignores her for long stretches of time, randomly buys her nice gifts, then disappears again only to conveniently reappear whenever she feels Pure slipping away from her. She swears that Pure doesn't have to wait for her, but she continues to hang around her even though she knows her presence is one of the main things that keeps Pure hooked.

She's manipulative and selfish. It may not be intentional and she certainly does love Pure but sometimes love isn't enough to absolve you. Intent does not negate impact. She may not realize it but she is a toxic ex and she needs to let Pure go. She doomed the relationship the moment she chose her mother over Pure. Her insistence on clinging to Pure only maintains a shitty situationship that brings out worst in both of them.

Yam is actively fumbling G, and it's sad to see. She dumped her bae for Ai. Meanwhile, Ai is willing to let Mae play her with no intentions of leaving. They're both a mess.

Mae's dad saying they don't hide things from one another while actively lying about his health is sick and twisted.

Ai is an amateur. How do you break into her tablet, then forget to put it back.

I'm glad Mae cut off Rachen but I wished she'd waited till bid day and double crossed him then. She could have led him to think they were working together, fed him false figures, and then cut him off. I know she wants to play nice, but that's not what major corporations do. As a billionaire heiress, she should know this.

Ai's dad definitely threatened the mom and that's why she left.

The long nails never fail to take me out. Queer women can have sex with long nails but not the way they show it. Maybe that's why they always do it in a bathtub. Also, is no one concerned about all the soap bubbles? There are so many factors, and they're all stressing me out. I thank the gl gods for idolfactory because they would never, Nam wouldn't let them.

The Ponds commercial every episode is a little funny.

The plot of harmony secret is just four lesbians trying really hard to do corporate espionage and failing spectacularly. While I love how down bad they all are, I wish they committed to the toxicity for at least four episodes. Its like they want to be toxic yuri but they're scared to make the characters look bad, so instead, they look incompetent.

Like Ai drugs Mae to break into her phone and gives up after failing once. Mae bugs Ai's room, and instead of gathering intel over time, and formulating a strategy she tries and fails to pouch one of Ai's clients then gives up. Don't get me started on the secretaries. I love this version of the show, but I mourn the more toxic iteration where everyone's is lying and backstabbing, and they all know, but they pretend not to. Then they slowly start falling in love and realize they have to drop their defenses and collaborate or risk crossing a line that would damage their relationship beyond repair. Basically, the show if the writers had guts.

I could see Mae slowly bugging every room in Ai's house. Ai putting a tracker on Mae's phone. One or both of them cloning each others devices. The assistants hooking up as an excuse to get into each other's rooms to steal sensitive information. Ai or Mae paying a PI to do light stalking. Really lean into the toxic yuri elements.

Instead, we have them constantly trying to play fair and do the right thing. No billionaire has ever said that. That's how we know this is fiction written by poor people.

Mae is such a weirdo. She misses her girlfriend and instead of calling her like a normal person she decides to listen to audio of her breathing.

I said Yam don't jump as a joke and then she almost did. I don't blame her. If I were in her position I would consider it. Fingers crossed we get her some therapy by episode 8.

That damn bug is gonna bite Mae in the ass. Now Ai wont trust anything she says and everything's gone to shit. The bug didn't even help her much it just caused unnecessary drama. I blame her for not hiding it better.
