people need to stop calling celebrities billionaires derisively lmao. only a handful of the richest celebrities are billionaires (oprah, michael jordan, steven spielberg, george lucas, kylie jenner). googling some of the biggest a listers (taylor, katy perry, gaga, brad pitt, kim kardashian), i found most of them had a networth of between 300 and 400 million. ariana grande only has 50 million. and that’s an OBSCENE amount of money, like feel free to call them millionaires derisively. they are too rich. but it’s nothing compared to jeff bezos’s 109.9 billion, bill gates’s 93.3 billion, warren buffet’s 87.2 billion, etc. you’re supposed to see ariana and think she’s the height of wealth. she’s not even close. conflating celebrities with CEOs isn’t helpful - acting like taylor swift and jeff bezos are remotely comparable shrouds just how much money the richest people in the world have. you don’t have to LIKE celebrity culture but use words correctly please.

ever since i wrote this post i haven’t been able to stop thinking about how there’s less of difference between my net worth and taylor swift’s net worth than there is between taylor swift’s net worth and jeff bezos’s net worth. i looked it up and she has seven properties valued at around 81 million dollars. and jeff bezos is exponentially more wealthy than her! i know the internet is FILLED with little ways to conceptualize how much money people like jeff bezos has but like it’s soooo fucking crazy when you think about
