May I present the best apple:

Because of this festival, I've tried more than half of the apples on that chart. My personal favorites are the Jonagolds. I can't put my finger on why, but it tastes purple to me--hot in a pie or a crumble or as cold as ice. It's not the sweetest on the apple scale, but it knocks me right over. It's got a floral scent and a thin skin, it's meaty (as opposed to gritty), and it is crisp as sin right out of the fridge with a cold glass of water. Hits as good as any recreational drug I've ever tried.
