Man it’s been a few months. I haven’t uploaded since December (cough)😅 been very busy lately. First time uploading this year, might as well upload some art of my main man Damien This is my first time attempting shading not bad for a first timer I do say so myself, but it’s still not perfect but I'm still learning.
You know technology literacy is dying because I saw this meme with 76k likes
F11 the full screen button? You’re scared of the full screen button? F10?? It opens the menu bar???
Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document 😖
If you had to learn what the F keys on your computer do through me reblogging this post, then I'm glad you did. Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but ☝️ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you
Never stop learning+ Never stop sharing what you learned
Gomez gives out better relationship advice than like 90% of dudes.
Gomez Addams is a suave motherfucker who loves his wife more than his own life.
Everyone should want a Gomez. He’s p cool.
Gomez and Morticia Addams actually have a very loving and extremely healthy relationship, both in the old TV show and in the more recent movies. They were also one of the first television couples to be shown to have an active (albeit offscreen) sex life. Their frank attitude towards sexuality was shocking in its’ time, but their relationship and their family dynamic is actually more functional and more…dare I say it…sane than most families portrayed on TV.
The comedy in the show came from the family’s “odd” lifestyle, rather than from infighting and petty bickering, or worse, as was common on other shows of the time, thinly veiled references to spousal abuse. They didn’t make fun of each other or act like their children were creatures from another world. Were they strange and outside of social norms? Yes. Were they united in creating a loving home and being good, supportive parents? Absolutely.
These two support and adore their children, care for an aging mother and an estranged brother, put family before everything, and they love each other, wholly, fiercely, without reserve. They are every bit as much in love after at least a decade of marriage as they were the day they met.
Relationship goals. LIFE goals.
Just remembered in the second movie when their third child became “normal” for a period and although they were shocked and didn’t know how to handle it, they didn’t mistreat the child or love it any less. They accepted the difference, even though it was hard for them.
Reblogged for truth.
❤️❤️❤️
Posts about Gomez and Morticia Addams are almost always uplifting and I’m happy to have them on my dash, but I think my favorite bit about this conversation is what Gomez is actually saying to Fester.
It’s nobody’s surprise that many of the aesthetic and thematic elements of The Addams Family in its various incarnations are influenced by Gothic tradition (not goth, that mostly came later. And not Goth, that was much much much too early), and I think Gomez’s words are a dead bullseye in terms of Gothic mentality.
“Make her feel like she’s the most sublime creature on earth”
The sublime is a recurring theme throughout Gothic literature. Although the word (like “awesome”) has lost a lot of it’s original luster over the intervening decades, sublime doesn’t really mean elevated and lofty (or even heavenly) as it’s often used today, but rather something possessing the power and grandeur to induce awe and veneration in the mind of the beholder. Although less than divine, something sublime possessed a wildness and power that transcended human ability to control…or even to comprehend.
Sublime is standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon leaning as far as you dare over the railing and still not being able to see the canyon floor below. Sublime is warrior-queen Galadriel being tempted by the One Ring. Sublime is waking up in the middle of the night in the heart of a wild thunderstorm.
“Make her feel like she’s the most sublime creature on earth”
Gomez isn’t advising Fester to treat a woman he fancies like a princess, or even elevate her to pedestal of angelic nature (who’s idea was it to equate femininity with purity anyway? What a laughable and historically damaging idea. Shame on whatever dead (probably) white dudes promoted that!)
Gomez is advising Fester that if he truly loves a woman he must do everything he can to remind her of how she’s an untameable force of nature who’s grandeur brings him to his knees in awe and terror. Just like Morticia, for Gomez.
I’ll sign off with one of my most favorite quotes of all time, because it feels suddenly very relevant:
“When I find myself surrounded by so much beauty, I feel as if I am the eye of a hurricane.”

Reblogging for the commentary on the Sublime
I remember seeing this post ten years ago. love the more recent addition.
Reminder that the sublime contains fear. Sublime is overwhelming Kantian beauty with a very neutral attitude towards your well-being. Sublime is big. Sublime could crush you. A cliff side can be sublime, but a hill, even the most perfect hill never will.
Purity is older than Whiteness, just want to point out. It’s not white, it’s monotheist–and specifically, in most cases, Christian. But do not mistake the two, because purity culture is not unique to white Christianity, it is unique to Christianity fullstop.
And like, particularly bc Raúl Juliá was Borincano, which was originally colonised by Catholic Spaniards and remains very Catholic… the fact that he is not centring purity, that he is playing a character who respects and loves his wife in a particularly against-good-christian-morals way is a layer that I think is worth noticing.
Also important to note that despite this version of Gomez’s status today, people were NOT normal about Raúl Juliá being cast as Gomez, who had previously only ever been played by a white man, and people are still not normal about non-white people engaging with Gothic stuff, or being goths. In particular, the movies came out in the 90s, well after the gothic subculture had appeared, even if the original material was from earlier. The gothic subculture’s influence can be seen in Wednesday’s characterisation, which was not like that previously (she was just a sweet little slightly weird girl in the 60s show, not a deadpan sarcastic character–that’s entirely bc of Tim Burton bringing gothic to the mainstream in the 80s with Lydia Deetz).
Gomez and Morticia being in a whirlwind romance was an invention of the tv show from the 60s, particularly of the actors playing Gomez and Morticia, who decided on their own to do that. The comics from Charles Addams never really depicted that at all. So the 90s films elaborating on it like this was new, and the word choice of “sublime” really cemented that despite the makeup and clothes of gothic showing up in the 80s, the whole idea was much older than the personal aesthetic and musical genre was, originating in much earlier literary ideas from the early 19th century, which themselves sprung from Romanticism, which itself was a reaction to the Industrial Revolution’s Rationalism–and one might draw the conclusion that the Addamses in the 90s were uniquely positioned to challenge the 80s hypercapitalism and hyperrationalism. But I digress. I just… there’s a LOT happening with these films.
“In the end, We are just as barbaric as they were”
Tried some perspective art didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to but I still like it.
His name is Damian he worked as a docent at a museum on Copper-9 before the collapse. He’s a no nonsense type of drone took a lot of effort from the other drones to get him to laugh. most of the other Drones saw him as a father figure than a coworker. after the collapse all the museum drones left the museum but he stayed behind he wanted to preserve the history even though most of the history is about the humans but it was mostly it was a excuse not leave. he has a very OCD type of personality and very protective over the museum and make sure it stays in tiptop shape even after the collapse. In his eyes history is important regardless who’s history it is. Only one of the drones that left came and visited him but that was short lived when the disassembly drones show up where Damian witness the younger drone killed and was also most killed him self.

Here is worker drone oc I made he doesn’t have a name yet but I’ll figure one out later. He is a docent (tour guide) at museum on copper-9 before the collapse, his voice sound close to teaches voice in the show when he is working but a bit lighter when he is not working. He had love hate relationship with the humans before the collapse, he like the humans he worked with because they treated him fairly good, but the humans that come in for tours treated him and the other drones very poorly. I’m very proud of this one, this is my first time posting art. In the last few months I’ve been learning how to draw. I know he is missing his helmet I couldn’t figure out how to make it look good, my lines are off and there’s no shading but I’m still learning.
