This is a side blog where I'll probably put stuff I don't want to put on my main blog, mostly oc x canon based stuff 18+ sometimes originally based around an overwatch fanfic named Holy Fire: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14738834/chapters/34072751?view_adult=true
Abstraction is shown to starts as a weird trip but the user is often relaxed when it happens.
Even thought it was an obvious trap, Jax went along with the plan
Even thought Abel was obviously untrustworthy, EVERYONE believed in him. Even if they had NO REASON to believe in him, they still did.
Zooble looks like that kind of person that thinks is right to fight a candle with a bigger fire.
Also, Zooble is so Gay for Gangle, omg - Abstragedy shippers got EXTRA feeding
Caine might want to be human??
Kinger laughing at Caine "I don't understand Chinese" line - CainexKinger shippers were fed?!
Pomni is still trying to reach to Jax. In fact, she and Jax seen alot more similar than I once thought? "Did you get it?" "Nah, someone beat me to it- oh right! Your eye!" GIRL?!
"Jax, is going to be okay" - Funnybunny shippers we are STILL ALIVE! Not only we got Jax calming down thanks to Pomni, we saw them actually thinking alike when they confronted Caine!
Jax clearly doesn't have anyone outside the circus. And now he doesn't want anyone near him in the circus... because he is afraid to lose people again. Even if he acts like he doesnt care... he still went thought the plan. He still did everything until the very end. He still helped and worked so everyone could escape. He is not a bad guy. Can we PLEASE stop treating this traumatized dude like the spawn of Satan himself?!
If Pomni hadn't stopped mid way... Jax wouldn't have freaked out and press the "wrong button". Besides, he clearly didn't wanted to do that. He was having a panic attack! He was so remorseful when it happened.
And now everyone os angry at Caine. They might turn on each other or turn on Caine. Doubt they won't turn on each other... this cast can't do something as simple as being a team.
You know, for a millisecond I thought my theory of Ragatha betraying the Cast would be correct. Did not expect it would be Pomni that just... STOP THE CLEAR PLAN OF NOT- POMNI WHY DIDN'T YOU PUSHED THE BUTTON?!
CAINE CAUSED SOMEONE TO ABSTRACT!
Is not that he can't mess with players mind- he knows if he does that they will abstract. CAINE MIGHT BE THE REASON EVERYONE ABSTRACTED
Mayne abstraction is reversible
Above all... I feel stupid for getting so anxious and nervous over this episode. I feel dumb...idk how to explain it. Is like we are all players in the circus, all stuck in this insanity.
In resume: Jax remains the best character of the show, now more than ever. And nothing else might matter. We are all going to go along the crazy ride and in the end it will remain the same.
Nobody can escape the circus. That is no longer the goal.
And if Jax abstracts I am going to drop this show so fast-
side note: the animatio this episode was SO GOOD?! Like- all the expressions and movements? Soooo good!

"I think Stella shouldve been a foil and dark reflection of Stolas, like someone who also yearns for love and companionship but doing it the wrong way. Like she knows she doesnt love Stolas and he doesnt love her but she clings onto him to a dangerous and abusive degree cuz thats better than being alone, she is very uncomfortable with Andrealphus' incestuous statements about and to her but she puts up with it cuz at least he's not being mean or neglectful to her and she has trouble loving Octavia but she still tries to love and care for her cuz that's what she's supposed to do, even if she does tend to hurt Via by accident."

I know the trial has been thoroughly picked apart for how dumb it is at this point but another thing that gets me is Blitzo going 'I would never! [try and kill Stolas]' when it's like yes??? yes you would have???
it's honestly just memory-holing at this point
Blitzo 100% did consider killing Stolas in Harvest Moon. at no point in that episode did he give any implication that it was care for Stolas specifically that led him to fight Striker. nothing in the framing suggests he wasn't genuine when he said the idea of killing Stolas was 'hot', not to mention the sheer bedroom eyes he was giving Striker
it comes off way more like he was annoyed Striker hurt his employees
if the show was trying to imply he did it out of tsundere affection for Stolas, it completely failed to communicate that. and I don't believe for a second they considered that in the script for episode 5
All of this, for sure. When Striker gave his pitch, that loon on his face was the face of a guy who was strongly considering it. Even if you don't believe he was, he straight up tried to snap Stolas's neck when he stole the book from him and no way guarantee that his head would do the owl thing.

I canât for the life of me understand why Viv just wants to keep Stella as this one dimensional husband-hating harpy, when thereâs so much goddamn potential to make her the tragic Beatrice Horseman-like figure she claims her to be.
Sheâs of a lower-end noble family who not only had to marry a man she didnât love, but was also forced to essentially serve as a broodmare to birth the fail safe for his lineage. Itâs heavily implied that she has very little power in this situation, violently lashing out at Stolas to the point where he can easily predict her striking at him, and, to top it all off, she has a creepy older brother who not only manipulates and insults her, but makes suggestive, sometimes downright sexual comments about her both in private and in public, which is something thatâs heavily implied to make her uncomfortable. The recipe for a tragic abuser figure is RIGHT THERE, and she refuses to take it!!
She basically wants Beatrice Horseman, but without understanding why Beatrice Horseman works. You can't have Beatrice Horseman, but also imply her older brother might have been molesting her and also demand the audience not sympathize with her too much.
This entire episode is very backwards and almost completely relies on circumstance to get to where it wanted to go which was wild to witness in real time
Stella is ecstatic Stolas's heart was broken by Blitz. Â âHeâll finally see that imp was using him to get to the grimoire!â Stella never knew this information before. She never brought it up to Stolas, even though it would have been one of the most solid arguments for why Stolas shouldn't have slept with Blitz, because it was true. This was never shown to the audience.
Andrealphus says Stella "is stupid for not bringing this up earlier, she's lucky she's hot."
1. Incest , why was this necessary
2. Stella never had this information, using it now to make her look like a dumb bimbo continues to insult and belittle her character
3. "You're lucky you're hot" continues to insult and belittle her character as well, because Stella's entire purpose was to produce a child; poking fun at her attractiveness as the only redeeming quality of hers in any way shape or form is, disappointing, to say the least, if not gross disrespect to a woman character
IMP is arrested for breaking the law. They try to leave in the van. I think the writers forgot they gave Blitz an asmodean crystal. They could have easily escaped and actually have saved most of their office supplies- hiding out in the human world until things blow over.
Strangely, Andrealphus tries to pin all the blame of divorce & grimoire scandal onto Blitz... all for the sake of drawing Stolas out to confess in the trial himself. Which doesn't make sense.
1. They were supposed to blame everything on Stolas to gain rights to his money, power, and artifacts. Blaming the imp gains them nothing, they had no intention of manipulating Stolas into staying with Stella
2. They didn't bother inviting Stolas to the trial, so Stolas has no clue any of this is going on to even show up like they want.
3. Stolas and Blitz aren't on good terms. Stolas realized Blitz doesn't care about him and is ready to try something new after going to Verosika's party. Blitz has no need of Stolas now that he has a crystal.
4.Blitz could have blamed it on Stolas, instead he takes the blame. However, instead of explaining he only wanted to use it for his business, he claims he wanted to use it to take down the upperclass rulers(?????) which comes out of no where, I don't even know how you could use the book for that
4. Satan suddenly decides to broadcast the trial's execution live, in which Stolas just so happens to see as he's watching TV, and rushes to the courtroom to come take blame.
The entire outcome of this trial is hinged on a GAMBLE for all scenarios: For Blitz to defend Stolas- and for Stolas to defend Blitz, for Blitz to confess use of the Grimoire for nefarious purposes outside of his business, for Satan to broadcast this live, and for Stolas to be watching tv at this exact moment.
This is convoluted. It is too high a risk. It doesn't make any sense, and it all could have been avoided if Andrealphus had quite simply just... invited Stolas to the trial.
A random Goetia parrot is extremely defensive of Stolas. The audience has not been introduced to him before. We have no idea how he knows Stolas or why he's bothering to defend him, because thus far it's been shown Stolas has no friends nor allies in the Goetia family.
Bee & Asmodeous's relationships with the lowerclass is brought up, but then entirely brushed over, despite the fact that in season 1 it was treated like it'd be a total scandal.
IMP acts like a loving family, when we do not have enough scenes for that to be believable. (Moxie just said "I fucking hate you so much, Blitz". Just a few min earlier)
Now that Blitz has (weirdly) confessed to using the Grimoire to take down higher society, Stolas claims if they kill Blitz, the imps will use him as a martyr and rise up. Stolas is stripped of his power for 100 years, a slap on the wrist. Weirdly, when they leave the trial, Blitz is treated like a hero and Stolas is treated like a criminal. Which doesn't make sense, because as far as the crowd is aware, Stolas merely hired Blitz in a bid for power against the upperclassman. Blitz has no business being worshipped for that, and Stolas has no business being hated for that- because aside from his classist attitude as well as merely benefitting from the oppressive system, Stolas has not done anything to warrant the hatred of Imps- especially now that he has been stripped of all his possessions and money. And equally, Blitz was just... an imp hired by a Goetia for a cover-up job, in Hell's eyes.
Octavia tries to save her father in the trial, but Stella blocks her way, and hugs her, which is the first ever "affection" , or even frankly, interaction between these two this entire series. The hug was only meant as a capture, to prevent her from leaving, but even if she had gone, knowing Octavia, she probably would have tried to pin it on Blitz to save her dad, and Stolas wouldn't let her do that.
~~~
Season 1 hyped up the threat of the scandal. They even implied that the human agents, with their camera systems, may be the ones to reveal Blitz and Stolas's relationship, their deal, as well as the fact that they've illegally shown their demon forms to humans. That is completely tossed aside and instead revealed by Stella of all characters, who has never known this information until now.
And now that this show has addressed this extreme point of contention, this looming stake that hyped up the fandom for years for what was to come- the end result is a mere slap on the wrist that only affects Stolas, who, as far as we're concerned, is completely fine, because he finally gets Blitz, whom is all he's ever wanted (aside from his weird indecision about his daughter, whom I'll talk about next episode)
The last real threat of season 1 is no more. All there is, is Andrealphus. (And spoiler alert for next episode: he's defeated too.) Helluva Boss now, has no outstanding stakes. No outstanding threats or problems. Season 3 will have to make stuff up on the spot with new characters to appear threatening, but if literal angel cherubs, the human american government, and Satan's government himself aren't threats to our main characters anymore, then anything new will be pathetic in comparison)
All in all, nonsensical episode that has me feeling too tired to feel the full depth of disappointment for one of the most important plot points' climax in the show, now come to end.
Stella - Fans give HelluvaBoss far too much credit.
When starving for rep, people will eat anything. The phrase goes, âBeggars canât be choosersâ. But stop insisting mud slop is chocolate cake.
Talking about Stella with the fandom is extremely awkward. Most hate her because of headcanons and projections. Those alone are why they claim sheâs âscarily realisticâ, not the writing itself. When you speak to them about the character they start talking about their own experiences as if those are part of the show.
When âStella is terribly writtenâ comes up, the fans love going into diatribes explaining what domestic abuse is to the audience as if we donât know, and their explanations alone, they think, make Stella suddenly become âwell writtenâ.
You ask the fans, âhow is she well written?â And they say âwell, sheâs a woman who is abusive to a man.â The fact female abusers are underrepresented in media means stellas mere existence alone is enough to warrant undivided praise. Standing ovations happen at cons where Bryce Pinkham cites his lines divorcing the character. Despite this conflict being completely shallow.
Stolas fans are extremely insistent that she must remain one note and pure evil. Because to them, in this âpowerful storyâ sheâs carrying the fate of male DV victims on her back. So if Stella is humanised, the fear is that male victims of domestic abuse wonât be believed, and their abusers have âapologist rhetoricâ (Stella being legitimately done wrong) may hurt them!âŚDespite âStellaâ being nothing more than a cartoon swan. They give this webtoon incredible amounts of social power. And medrano I think, loves and relishes in that power. She doesnât have to lift a finger and actually write a character, backstory, arc, relationships, likes/dislikes, a plan of villainy, a dynamic, or a story, the fact Stolas exists, is gay, and is a victim to a woman, is enough. Enough for a grand standing ovation.
Let me explain with an example
In this scene of Stella and Via where her mother takes her phone away. The sole dialogue to via is âsorry sweetie, no talking to that deadbeatâ thatâs all. But twitter users started saying - Via cries like stolas does, Stella hates that. Abusers sometimes bully their children for having traits of their victims. So via has to hide her tears so her mom doesnât abuse her. They imply they have experience with it, which makes Stellas writing is so realistic.
âŚ..Thatâs great and all. People are allowed to relate and have comfort characters. But none of that is in the show. Stella just took her daughterâs phone. Thatâs all she did and said to her. But when someone points that out, they get accused of doubting someoneâs real life abuse experience. The one theyâve imagined as also being in the show.
As someone with pretty bad clinical depression, it makes me legitimately sick how they gave Stolas depression so you feel bad for the poor lil birdie despite the fact that he shows NONE of the symptoms of depression. The writers literally just pulled it out of their ass so you feel bad for Stolas. It makes me feel even sicker that he's infantilized. I hate seeing depressed characters infantilized and acting like they are poor precious babies when depressed people are literally just people like everyone else with their own flaws.
i thought id drop the show because of octavia cutting off stolas but honestly? doing it because of the millie pregancy plot. i genuinely cannot think of an absolute worst time to make a side story about a woman being forced (probably, because m&m baby = more merch to sell and more money for our dying show, since i also have zero trust in viv to be mature enough to let millie abort or even just give the baby up for adoption,) to have a kid she doesn't want at the cost of her career, and take care of it likely by herself so moxxie can provide for her and his new child by working at I.M.P. in her absence, and eventually likely have her character be reduced to "loving mother" with one episode like unhappy campers in s3 or s4 where she gets to kick ass while someone else, probably stoliz for ship fluff, watches her baby and does nothing else of value for herself so we can pretend viv doesn't hate her women characters, because the president elect of the united states in 2025 is probably going try and do everything in his power to ban abortion nationwide in america when he gets in office officially.
if someone told me this was what would happened in sinsmas yesterday, i almost wouldn't have believed them, because of how tone deaf of a writing decision it is, even for vivs standards. can't wait until her female fans start opening their eyes to this bullshit when millie is shafted even harder in favor of a new piece of merchandise- i mean a new "character."
There are so many ways it could potentially go, but knowing Viv and Millie, I have very little faith that it will be handled in a way that isn't horrifying.
