I've only watched the movies, and they're pretty timeless; with wonderful concepts and majesty... and the first three movies had a fantastic soundtrack. The older actors put so much into their performances and added such brilliant personal touches to the characters, it's super admirable. It's an extremely marketable series for all ages surrounded in magic, mystery, and drama.
That being said, I'm probably not gonna read the books but I know a lot of differences. I know one of the directors was insistent about Hermione x Harry, and that's honestly the only ship that makes sense in the films- Ron and Ginny were badly written and poorly played in the movies. They, including Harry, Sirius, and Remus if not more- apparently had way more personality and complexity in the books. It's tragic they're so blank in the film.
Thankfully, we still have some gems. The creative high school drop-out twins who end up with the most successful business around... Luna- the neurodivergent airhead who is shockingly down to earth despite her belief in conspiracies... Voldemort, with a fascinating inferiority complex as an orphan halfblood, who has carefully manipulated those of high society to follow him despite his status and upbringing. His obsession with power ironically has led him to his own downfall, as the "chosen one” to defeat him was ironically, chosen by Voldemort himself, and in some ways, is also Voldemort himself. (The Horcrux) That's poetry right there. There are extremely iconic characters.
The films "improved" some stuff though- removing the "elves LIKE slavery" nonsense- removing the convoluted "save my son from jail" nonsense with Barty Crouch Jr, though personally they should have gone a step further and just let Madeye still be loyal to Voldemort. Snape's character was also turned a good guy- Harry naming his son after him in the films makes more sense. In the books he's a slimey asshole. Hedwig died free, choosing to save Harry instead of dying in a dumb cage. Harry breaking the elderwand at the end of the film was symbolic.
Harry Potter's world as a whole has plenty of issues, though. Everyone uses owl feathers but not ballpoint pens. Or better yet, pencils- or even typewriters. If they can get a car to fly or a radio to work, they can absolutely bring phones or video game consoles to school. It's such a missed opportunity to not have The Cursed Child play showcase a modern wizarding society with intermixed technology.
There are only three illegal curses? But the date-rape drugs (love potions) are fucking LEGAL?! Horrible oversight, absolutely stupid. (The Avada Kedavra spell is basically a gun, it leads to terrible fight scenes.)
The School is extremely dangerous and more children should be dead, even with magic at play. (trolls, moving stairwells, a tree that beats you to death, a basilisk, dementors, flying around at high speeds on brooms with little to no protective gear, designing a trials-event that attempts to kill you via drowning, dragons, and killer plant mazes, etc)Â this school should have been shut down YEARS ago, holy shit.
Cedric Diggory was such a one off character- Ron was originally meant to die, and it shows. The "I am Lord Voldemort" Tom Riddle anagram was stupid.
Tonks having a kid with a man 13 years older than her despite both her and Remus being EXTREMELY queer coded was grossly disappointing to me.
Fleur and her fellow classmates were written in a terribly sexist manner in the Goblet of Fire. I don't know if that's how they were written in the book, but that was awful to watch.
There's plenty of issues with the series, but there are a lot of things that made it enjoyable too.

As for the JK Rowling controversy, I’ve skimmed this topic before, but I didn’t really get into the meat of it. HP is taboo to even mention in a lot of spaces of the internet because the creator supports transphobic legislation. After seeing a post telling me to kill myself earlier for liking Harry Potter, I’d like to be a bit more in depth about my opinion on engagement below:
“Financially supporting Harry Potter causes some of that money to be directed towards transphobic legislation, do not watch clips on youtube(ad revenue). Pirate or purchase second hand.”Â
Totally agree.Â
“Engaging with Harry Potter by piracy, second hand purchases, or via fandom content means you’re transphobic.”Â
Disagree. Do not assume this, this is dangerous black and white thinking. The amount “If you like HP, kill yourself :)“ I’ve seen on the internet is concerning. It’s ostracizing, mob mentality virtue signaling that gives people an excuse to bully. Telling someone to kill themselves out of a misplaced sense of activism ironically could be harming the very people folks think they are protecting- but regardless, this is inappropriate to do.
I don’t assume anyone who likes Greg Cipes as a voice actor is also an anti-vaxxer. I don’t assume everyone who reads the Bible believes incest, slavery, sexism, or animal abuse is ok. I don’t assume everyone who listens to d4vd songs is a pedo or murderer. Do not assume.Â
“Jk Rowling declared anyone who engages with her stuff in any way supports her political beliefs too.”Â
Just because a creator says something, doesn't mean it’s true. She’s had plenty of fans of HP as well as the movie actors publicly disagree with her vile views. Regardless, whether or not her content is engaged with, will still not change her beliefs, so her point is empty. This has given a free pass to folks to target HP fans instead of flaming her directly. "Hey you liked this person's stuff who said or did something bad so that means you're bad too and I can attack you for it." No you cannot. Do not automatically throw people in by association.
“Engaging with Harry Potter in anyway is keeping it alive, we need to kill it.”Â
Harry Potter is a pop culture staple on an international scale. It’s literally embedded into a multi million dollar section of Universal Studios, a popular but bad broadway play that doubles as a magic show, as well as the apparel & paraphernalia merchandise at every Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Kohls, BoxLunch, Hot Topic, and more. Games, merch, and new tv series via paid advertisements from Warner Bros will pop up on every TV, streaming service, or bus stop poster. Harry Potter is a timeless cash-cow franchise that will continue for decades long after JK dies. (Alice in Wonderland ended in the 1800s. It’s still being adapted or remade to this day.)Â
*All this being said, if the issue all comes back down to JK Rowling, then feasibly speaking, when she dies, financially supporting or liking HP should be socially okay again. Somehow, some folks have twisted this to not be the case.Â
“The themes are morally wrong, HP promotes slavery and antisemitism.”Â
Liking a series does not mean you agree with everything the author writes, and thinking a series shouldn’t be engaged with because its themes are bad or mishandled is censorship. (*The movie adaptions promote the end of elf slavery, and the antisemitism is likely an ignorant byproduct embedded in English goblin folklore itself, which existed prior to JK Rowling's book series)
“Harry Potter sucks anyway.”Â
Incomplete or poorly written works tend to have a more active fanbase because there’s a plethora of material to work upon through personal creative freedoms. Arcane season 2 sucks. BLEACH past arc 2 sucks. KH3 story sucks. Aspects of the Owl House and Amphibia suck. Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss suck. They still have big fanbases that care about the series and would defend them profusely, even if they’re bad. Some people also acknowledge the shows they like are bad. I criticize everything I like, I recognize where there are faults yet I still enjoy them.Â
“Harry Potter is for children, move on.”Â
The Harry Potter franchise, especially mid-to-late series, exhibits extremely mature concepts like rape, murder, torture, possible grooming, political corruption, classism, suicide ideation, sacrifice, racism, and war. These themes are not for children. Plenty of series meant for children (Amphibia, The Owl House, My Little Pony, Gravity Falls, SpongeBob, The Powerpuff Girls, Pokemon, most of Disney material-) all have adult fanbases. Shaming someone for liking child-catered media is a low hanging fruit, and frankly inappropriate. (Especially when ironically, adult shows often promote unnecessary sex, profanity, and violence.)Â
“Trans people are told to kill themselves all the time too-“ That’s awful, it should not be happening- that does not give someone an excuse to do that to other people, especially those that aren’t financially supporting HP anymore. Someone writing and posting a fanfiction about kids going to wizard school is not active bigotry against people who want personal gender attonomy, equality, and respect.
If you see someone financially supporting direct HP work, discourage it.Â
If seeing Harry Potter on your dashboard upsets you due to association, I encourage unfollowing, blacklisting, and blocking.
I'd also encourage unfollowing, blacklisting, and blocking the people who believe "HP fans should kill themselves" because if they use any of the excuses above for HP to harass or wish death upon people, they can and will do the same to other people in different fandoms. When the creator of a series you like does something shitty, they'll come for you too. You are not immune to the mob.

Anyways what's your favourite character, and if you were to rewrite something or someone about the show what would it be?(NOT COUNTING PHANTOM PLANET which knowing you, there definetly is plenty you'd like to criticize about the end)
Hi yes. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched it though. Danny and Vlad were my favorite characters. I liked Jazz too.
I’d have to rewatch the show to think of a rewrite.i remember preferring Danny and Valerie over Danny and Sam, i might have written them as the main ship.
Honestly I just recall the series had a lot of loose ends. We were just starting Valerie’s storyline and Dani’s storyline. Dan Phantom was also locked away. Idk I just know there was plenty of material to continue the series for at least another season, would have preferred that.
I think there’s a comic or novel recently released that “fixes” the Phantom Planet stuff but I haven’t looked into that yet.
Have you watched my adventures with superman? If you had, what are your thoughts on it?
I’ve watched a few episodes and it’s very cute!! I was relieved when Jimmy got Kara as a girlfriend and wasn’t the third wheel the entire show
Superman’s cousin being evil(technically) is an interesting twist and purpose for Kara’s character… She sort of feels like a legitimate star of the show at some point, even an actual threat or interesting character for a time, not just “the Superman for the girl audience” I’ve sometimes seen her as
There’s a handful of episodes if I remember correctly, where Lois and Jimmy, the two powerless humans, help Superman take down an enemy. On one hand I sort of appreciate that they’re given stuff to do, a way to help Superman, but on the other hand I’m like “one day soon you guys are gonna be in over your heads and die ASDFGHJKL”
At the very least give Lois and Jimmy machine guns or something, even out the playing field! Haha
Hey, Ms Hezu, I recommend you watch Dragon Strikers. It’s an animated series thats basically about Magical Soccer. It’s a pretty good show with about 11 episodes

I loved reviewers on youtube, and I always wanted to yap about shows I liked or disliked. When Covid hit, and it was near impossible to get or retain a job, I decided to finally set up an account.
hey Hezu Uh Quick Question Have You Played Until Dawn And Also Do You Play Choice Based Games
I have not, but I've seen the play through. I don't usually do choice based games? I mean, undertale is technically one I guess? Maybe?
I just find that choice based games are weirdly limited in their endings or possibilities, since the creators don't have the time or money to truly explore as many things as possible, and if they do, its often budget cut to still frames with descriptions for what happened rather than any full animated sequence.
Do you have a favorite film or tv show currently and did you know Iron Lung is available to purchase on YouTube for 10 bucks?
I'd say my top fav tv show might be Arcane as of right now?
Favorite film..... Animated film maybe Wreck it Ralph. Unsure about live action movies, but I love a lot of stuff from the 80s and 90s, I consider that the golden age of film!
Amazing price for Iron Lung! I might pass on purchasing it, but I saw it in theaters and thought it was a decent.
Do You Watch Object Shows If Not Then You Should Probably Watch Some Like BFDI Because it is The Show That Started This Thing And Also It is Very Good Show and it is On YouTube BTW And it is Very Popular
Not usually, but I'll add this to the suggestion box!

hi what reviews are you looking to make in the future? I really enjoy your opinions on the stuff you have discussed thus far!
Hi!!!! Glad I'm entertaining!
I plan to watch Amphibia next- though its 3 seasons, so that might take me a while.
I also wanted to review Kipo & The age of the wonderbeasts, but I need to rewatch it to do a proper review.
I've also watched Tales of Earthsea, Nimona, Ultraman Rising, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell recently.
I have a ton of stuff I've already watched plus stuff i want to watch.
I usually base stuff off my Patreon's top requests, or anything I happen to watch that ignites strong feelings for me.
Hi yes!! I plan to review it at some point, but I’m waiting for it to finish before I do so. This is the kind of show where I can’t predict what’s gonna happen next. They sort of brought up a ton of new stuff last episode- and it feels like we are dropping some plot lines and instead turning them into red herrings which has me a little confused how this will all end.
For now what I can say with certainty is: it’s a genuinely funny, mystifying show with some good character introspection. Current criticism: the dialogue has been going a little down hill when they started shoving in way too many repetitive “therapy sessions” and I’m really confused what they’re trying to do with Ragatha’s character.
Otherwise any other opinions will be reevaluated come the shows end!
I don't think that anon that was saying "Stella was never retconned" was trying to be mean. I think they were giving their perspective. Plus, animation takes a while, so it's not hard to believe that "The Circus" was written years before its release. It's totally okay to not be happy with the direction Helluva took, but I don't see any evidence of a retcon taking place when it comes to Stolas, Stella, and Blitz's pasts. I wish you had been a little nicer when engaging with that anon as it comes across as you saying "No, I'm right. You're wrong" instead of attempting an earnest conversation or replying "I understand your perspective, but I respectfully disagree."
Unsure how you got “I’m right you’re wrong” from “I can’t believe I’m still getting these asks”
But I’ve explained my perspective 3+ times now and I don’t wanna repeat it again
I guess you have not played silent hill or resident evil understandable but if you ever do play silent hill and Resident evil let us fans know your thoughts because the Silent Hill franchise and the Resident Evil Franchise have really good games
I have not played either of those indeed-
But! I did recently watch a playthrough of the original Silent Hill and it was really funny because it was just a guy wandering through endless fog who gets attacked by a rabid dog and pterodactyl every 3 minutes
I watched Markiplier play Amnesia when I was a kid. I've also seen playthroughs of Fran Bow and the Evil Within 1.
I really liked Evil Within 1 when I was younger, but I don't really remember much about it now?

Hey Hezu what is your opinion on Horror Video Games is it the same opinion you have on Horror Movies
I like some horror video games, I think my first exposure was Outlast, while Little Nightmares / Renanimal are more attuned to my personal taste.
FNAF's jumpscares were cheap, but the aspects of 8-bit storytelling, a man's shadow hanging, and Foxy running at you when the others froze in the face of the camera were unexpected and that's what made them great to the overall horror factor. I lost interest after the third when the story got too complicated and they started introducing weird hallucinogenic gas into the equation.
I'm also not keen on horror genres shrugging and blaming everything on a religious cult that summoned demons. Renaimal appears to have done that, and it felt out of place. Outlast 2 pulled something like that too. Just not my cup of tea is all.
Admittedly I don't have a well rounded palette for horror video games, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
