before my egg cracked, i had noticed that trans people were often pro-accessibility and up-to-date on the needs of disabled people, but i hadn’t seen any inherent connection between the two (other than the obvious minority-looking-out-for-other-minority thing). but now that i’m trans and medically transitioning, and i have to constantly repeat myself while talking to doctors and nurses, and explain things about my own anatomy to medical staff who should already know this, and having every single problem i might have blamed on my “condition” so nothing i say is taken seriously, all of the sudden i have a little sneak peak into the life of someone who has to deal with this all the time. like shit bro, being disabled probably sucks ass, someone should do something about this

I’m certainly not the first transfem to bring this up but there really is something to be said about how tmes arguing with trans women will suddenly and irrelevantly bring up their own personal trauma as a way to shut down any disagreement. I.e. once the trauma has been laid out any further disagreement with their initial argument can be framed as diminishing or even celebrating their trauma. I’ve seen this happen too many times not to notice a pattern

i personally consider traumadumping while arguing with transfems to be a hallmark of twerfism. if i can get in my psychology armchair i have a suspicion that "i am a victim and transfems (in not so many words) are harmful privileged invaders" is a load bearing pillar of twerf psychology. when they're exposed to trans feminism, that belief is challenged, and so they go "MY DAD BEAT MY MOM IN FRONT OF ME" to reassert their status as victim, rather than perpetrator of gendered violence.

they seem like inane non-sequiters if you take them as an earnest attempt to engage with trans feminism, but make perfect sense if you understand that what a twerf is actually thinking about when discussing trans womanhood is their own position as innocent victim and authority over trans women.
