A poor person knows exactly what they could afford to buy and what needs to prioritize. At most, you'd get a 'oh, I thought this was on discount/buy one get one, I can't afford the full price'.

This is actually a phenomenon of the temporarily embarrassed middle class, or people raised in the middle class who are now poor but haven’t been that way for long. College students who have recently moved out of their parents’ house, people who have just lost a job, people who are freelancers or contractors and get large amounts of money at irregular intervals.
