There used to be chairs only at v few spots in the lab and they would always be there because in those spots the work required sitting down
Over the years we've gotten more chairs at more spots in the lab, and they're still always being moved around. I didn't understand why until I came back to work after having covid and being left with some post-covid symptoms. If i was not walking, I wanted to be sitting rather than standing. Any amount of sitting was better than any amount of standing. Everyone doing work in my lab is under 35
