There is an EXCELLENT free desktop office suite called Libre Office that you can download and install by clicking here: https://www.libreoffice.org/
If anyone reading this is a college student and thinking about purchasing microsoft home and student or an office 365 subscription please just install Libre Office instead. It is WONDERFUL.
If youâre looking to do something browser-based you should check out CryptPad, which is a zero-knowledge, encrypted online office suite with document storage and a spreadsheet maker and a complete boner for security. It allows for collaboration like gdocs does but it doesnât track your data or store information about you because it *canât* because all of your work is encrypted. And, as usual, if you want to ditch gmail check out protonmail.
Also maybe the best, easiest, and most important way to cut Google out of your life is to stop using chromium-based browsers because people using non-chromium browsers are the only reason that Google isnât setting every single modern web standard and the fact that MOST internet users use Chromium browsers means that Google is de facto setting every single modern web standard.

(and yes, Opera and Brave are chromium browsers and I think itâs worthwhile to stop using them because SERIOUSLY everyone is using fucking chromium and Edge just switched over to chromium and please, please, please just install firefox)

Android users install Firefox and add the ublock origin extension; iOS users install Firefox Focus.
And reset your default search option in your browser. Other search engines do not return the same results and sometimes thatâs frustrating but if you get used to just using duckduckgo as your first option and Google if that doesnât give you an answer as a second option then youâre still doing a great job (because seriously, how many of your searches are just for basic information like spelling or history that will pop up on wikipedia or dictionary.com - DDG will totally do that even if it isnât ideal for current news searches)
BTW the reason Iâm recommending *most* of these things is because theyâre open-source, which is one of the reasons I prefer LibreOffice over WPSWriter, but another reason is features.

CryptPad! CryptPad is collaborative, itâs basically a zero-knowledge version of google docs and I love it.
Collaborators donât even need to have an account to edit.
(cryptpad currently has a free version with a small amount of storage and a few paid tiers with larger amounts of storage, they are a tiny, open-source project, give âem a whirl and if you like it donate if you can)

Use two browsers and use the office account and the google products in one browser (or if youâre using firefox you can use account containers and create a specific âgoogleâ container that you use google/microsoft/facebook/whatever weird privacy violating monopoly is hosting your meetings in and keep it separate from the rest of your online life).
What would you recommend for a search engine? And what was the email host going around that everyone should be switching to? (If you donât mind answering these).
I like the idea of not being constantly tracked. As it is, Iâll be resuming using a written grocery list and leaving my phone at home (Android)

Meet Wiktor, MichaĹ, Dominik, Milo and Kacper.
Wiktor was almost 15 years old when he threw himself under the train. He was transgender.
MichaĹ was 29 years old when he hanged himself on a tree. He was working as a model. He was gay.
Dominik was 14 years old when he hanged himself on his shoelaces. He was gay.
Milo was 23 years old when she jumped off a bridge. She was an activist. She was transgender.
Kacper was 14 years old when he hanged himself in his house. He wasnât even sure if he was gay yet.
All of them were bullied in school. Some of them were assaulted, insulted, attacked on street. Some of them were denied psychological help they needed. Some of them were denied medical treatment.
All of them died because of institutional and personal homo- and transphobia here in Poland.
I will think about those five people - one of them I knew in person. I will think about them when I go vote today. And when I vote, I will think about countless children who might lose their lives in the future because of politicians who find themselves a new public enemy -Â âLGBT ideologyâ.
None of them was âan ideologyâ.

(12.06.2020) in tv program one of the guest member of Sejm Jacek Ĺťalek from âAgreementâ party which allied with the ruling party of Poland said that â[LGBT+ people] are not people, this is an ideologyâ Katarzyna Kolenda- Zaleska, the journalist hosting the tv program decided to throw him out from her program.
(13.06.2020) Andrzej Duda the president of Poland gave a speech to his electorate in which he compare âLGBT ideologyâ to neobolshevismâ and once again said âthis is an ideologyâ

(15.06.2020) this is Helena BiedroĹ. she is a mother to Robert BiedroĹ (the first openly gay member of the Sejm, leader of the âSpringâ party, one of the three leaders of The Left, candidate to President, MEP) she read the letter from polish lgbt people parents to president. one of the quotes from her moving speech:
âI came here from afar, but i have something important to say to you Mr. [President]. I canât stay quiet when my child is hurt.â

(17.06.2020) Andrzej Duda invited Helena and Robert BiedroĹ and Bart Staszewski (polish LGBT activist) to a meeting. only Bart Staszewski showing up in President Palace. after the meeting he wrote this on his twitter account:
Helena and Robert BiedroĹ didnât show up because they claim that president did not want to debate with them but he invited them so he could had a photo with them to manipulate that he atleast tried.
this is the end of mine post but this shit is still on. and you know what? i feel threatened. as a Pole, as a activist, as a LGBT+ person, as a human.

Iâd like to add that we lost the presidential elections, in case the international readers of this post didnât know it yet. It will most likely lead to the implementation of the so called âFamily Cardâ which will, among other things listed in the carrd itself, prohibit âspreading lgbt propaganda in public institutionsâ which will surelyfurther repress lgbt people and activists. MaĹgorzata Szutowicz was accused of âactive participation in events taking place on 27th of june 2020 in Warsawâs Wilcza streetâ which means: she allegedly took part in destroying cars driving in our capital, which are covered with homophobic lies (âhomosexuals are 20 times more likely to be pedophiles, 91% of children rised by lesbians are molestedâ etc.) and people in them yelling similar propaganda with megaphones. She also allegedly pushed a man who was recording the whole situation injuring his wrist and back. The homophobic cars are technically illegal in poland since october 2019 based on a decision of the court (SÄ d OkrÄgowy w GdaĹsku), however nobody actually does anything about them and the police ignores the reports of them driving around our cities (so much for âweâre all equal in the eyes of law lmaoâ), including Warsaw, and accusations of slander from lgbt activists towards the people responsible for the propaganda campaign have been largely ignored. Itâs a very hard time for the polish lgbt community and weâd appreciate spreading information about whatâs going on in our country.
And to my polish LGBT friends- Grupa Stonewall offers free psychological support for LGBT people affected by the current situation.
