Like 90% of the “horror” here was just the protag imagining shit that MIGHT be there based on horribly onomatopoeia’d sound effects (DRRRIPPPP THWWIWIIICKKK) the rest was boring bog standard body horror (her arms were cut off. her legs were cut off.) and THE OCEAN THE DEEP THE PRESSURE THE DARK THE PRESSURE. Plus some zero-note ass characters and a horrible journal segment. I only cared about the dog and she gets killed off just to try to wring some emotion out of me. Boringgggg

And the post apocalyptic pandemic setting that immediately gets forgotten about for the rest of the book minus a line at the end where the spooky monsters go “ya that wasn’t us lol weird coincidence huh?”
