I know the “Vane called Flint gay for living in a house” thing is funny but I think in all seriousness Vane was calling Flint a class traitor for living in a house which is in some ways much funnier

do we think m. john silver blacksails likes all kinds of sex forever (smatterings of hedonism in my aura readings) or do we think he is generally alienated from his body and will do whatever kind of sex as long as it appears socially beneficial for him (lowkey crazy molested vibes im getting from him too). Or are these literally the same thing. i hink they are the same thing. really cant get a read on him (adds to the crazy molested vibes for me)(only got to the end of s2 before, am on s1 of the rewatch but the yaoi simply cannot wait)

i think it's really disingenuous to judge black sails characters (silver) by their betrayals because this is literally all they do the entire series, betray each other and anticipate betrayals and act accordingly in order to achieve their goals. so the thing that's killing me isn't really a breach of trust that was done by most of them in the end - it's how unbelievably wrong they all are. silver didn't just betray flint and madi, he decided he knew how to make them happy, and he was wrong. max didn't just betray nassau, she thought she was securing its' future, and she was wrong. eleanor didn't just betray vane or flint or her husband or the pirates. rogers didn't just betray eleanor. they all followed their own fears and delusions into submission, into forcing their loved ones into submission, all for a mirage of safety, and they didn't even end up safe. because you can't stay safe when your life depends on an empire's whim, and you willingly gave up your power to say no.
