my live reaction to this moment
the vampire lestat episode 1
#lestat duet with nadja and laszlo would go crazy
I keep remembering a run of Hamlet I saw a few years ago, where the Ghost was costumed in full plate armour which was very noisy, and instead of muffling it, they had him crash across the stage, stomping so the whole set rattled, and he said all of his lines in a bellow, like he was furious with Hamlet.
And the thing that made it absolutely terrifying was that Hamlet was the only one who reacted. He was cowering, and covering his ears with both hands, and yelling to be heard over the noise.
And no one else seemed to know why he was doing that. The other actors didn't even raise their voices.
That's scary, something so loud and painful, and REAL, and the people around you don't even notice it, and think that you're the crazy one.
I love when I hear about a choice in Shakespeare I've never thought of before. Brilliant
you know addicts are human beings who feel and experience emotions like love and empathy and might have something to say about how it helped them along on their journey. controversial to say. an addict does have like, you know, a complex inner world and a potentially valuable worldview

I'm gonna say it.
It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.
That is a bonkers assumption to make.
I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.
I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.
I promise you it is still getting me death threats in 2024.
“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”
— Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)

It’s tattered, it’s broken, but it’s mine.
Good morning who wants some delusional & sweet devils minion to start their week? Honestly as someone raised in the fandom trenches of 2014 tumblr, it still floors me we’re getting queer media that’s like, actually queer. I literally screamed at the TV watching OFMD for the first time.
Anyways, I continue to draw and think about devils minion. Also realizing I haven’t drawn Claudia or Madeleine, which is a travesty I will soon correct. They deserve cute happy art too.
(probably) last drawing before the premiere eeeeeeeeee. Anyway here is the most pathetic man alive.
