was also thinking about brain ghost dirk & and i do think part of bgd calling himself jake's boyfriend after they've broken up can also be used to say "oh look jake actually did like dirk" BUT. also interesting that even the hope fueled version of dirk that was created by jake's brain is still uhhh. forcing his will on jake? how much of that is him being a dirk splinter, how much is how jake feels dirk sees him and how much of it is how jake sees himself bc bgd in hsbc seems to say its mostly 2 & 3... which is also fun. that feeling when you like yourself & feel respected by your boyfriend . so much so that the version of him you created inside of your own head thinks you're weak and a joke!

the fanonised cutesy portrayal of dirkjake does annoy me a lot sometimes ... they are so bad for each other i thought that is what people liked about them. the way dirk treats jake & tries to make him stronger, make him a better fighter, make him a better man who is more in line with what dirk thinks masculinity should be is such a direct parallel to how bro treats dave & even if dirk thinks he is genuinely helping and in the right for doing this it is still. bad. <-understatement. and this is the foundation of their relationship... and basically all sburb kisses are coerced but dirkjake is especially bad lol. i dont agree when people overcorrect and say that jake actually didn't like dirk at all (wed be into each other if he was a girl, this isnt how i pictured it going / i had stuff i wanted to say to the real him Etc etc...) but there is also the whole resignation of well. dirk wants it so it's going to happen which is. obviously a terrible foundation for a relationship. and jake is jake and avoidance is also #evil sometimes. neither of them were actively trying to hurt each other but they did & dirkjake without that is just two completely different guys ...
