the fanonised cutesy portrayal of dirkjake does annoy me a lot sometimes ... they are so bad for each other i thought that is what people liked about them. the way dirk treats jake & tries to make him stronger, make him a better fighter, make him a better man who is more in line with what dirk thinks masculinity should be is such a direct parallel to how bro treats dave & even if dirk thinks he is genuinely helping and in the right for doing this it is still. bad. <-understatement. and this is the foundation of their relationship... and basically all sburb kisses are coerced but dirkjake is especially bad lol. i dont agree when people overcorrect and say that jake actually didn't like dirk at all (wed be into each other if he was a girl, this isnt how i pictured it going / i had stuff i wanted to say to the real him Etc etc...) but there is also the whole resignation of well. dirk wants it so it's going to happen which is. obviously a terrible foundation for a relationship. and jake is jake and avoidance is also #evil sometimes. neither of them were actively trying to hurt each other but they did & dirkjake without that is just two completely different guys ...
