I gotta say, the subnautica experience is actually improved by drawing your own map.
☝️Geometry!
All you need is 2 markers at the surface, and then you get your distance to each of them and you draw part of a circle that distance out with the compass (the pencil with a hinge and a pointy bit) in approximately the right direction. Do that with each of your 2 points, and the spot where the 2 circle lines meet is where you are.
The engineeing ruler is handy because it has multiple different scales on it. I'm using the 30 scale because that seemed to be a good ratio, but i could literally just mark out my own scale on the graph paper if i wanted to. As long as the scale is consistent and the depth youre taking measurements at is consistent, this is all you need.
But, if you have a calculator handy, you don't even need the depth to be consistent!
