It never stopped raining in Brindleton Bay. So Cinder decided he and his beloved pup better just get used to it!
Fetch training seemed like a great way to help them adjust to the permanently miserable weather! Cinder really wanted to practice his training skills, and they couldn’t get anywhere if they couldn’t ever go outside!
As always, Cindy wanted to make her boy happy… but that didn’t mean she had to show enthusiasm as she fetched the ball.
Cinder showered his girl with praise as she managed a successful ball retrieval!
But no matter how cheerful CInder was, or how much encouragement he gave, Cindy’s spirits were thoroughly dampened by the rain.
She loved her boy, but she didn’t have to suffer for him! So that one successful fetch was all Cinder got before she trotted back inside to safety. Ah well, CInder was sure they’d adapt eventually!
But as Cinder turned to watch his dog escape, he was met with a surprise! Cindy wasn’t the only one beelining for the house!
Cinder was always over the moon to see Quinn!! He didn’t know where they lived, so he had to wait for them to come to him, but Cinder could respect their privacy! And offer Quinn a warm drink during their rare visits.
But when they entered Cinder’s humble abode, Cinder was shocked to discover a puddle! They’d have to go over their “no shaking water off in the house” rule… if Quinn would just excuse him for a minute-
While Cinder mopped, Quinn got acquainted with the resident puddle-maker. If Quinn wanted to be a more permanent feature in Cinder's life, they’d have to get on his best friend’s good side!
As it turned out, Quinn was a dog lover!!! As if Cinder needed any more reason to fall in love with them! So even though Cindy had made a mess, Quinn was so excited to see the little ball of fluff!
Cindy for one was happy to be included in the little get together! What could be better than sims that adored her on both sides! Besides, someone needed to chaperone the lovebirds-
Unfortunately for Cindy, Quinn did not want a chaperone. They wanted a little one-on-one time with Cindy’s boy, so if Cindy could graciously give them some privacy-
It wasn’t at all what Cindy wanted, but if it would make her boy happy… yes, she could graciously take the leap and let the lovebirds have their moment.
The second the adorable ball of fluff was just out of line of sight, Quinn’s mood totally shifted! The giddy grin turned to a grumpy grimace as if a switch had been flipped!
Cinder was caught off guard by the sudden change as Quinn began their vent. Apparently things in Quinn’s life weren’t going as well as they wanted, and they had a lot to get off their chest- so much that Cinder could barely keep up!
Growing up with the Barrera’s had taught Cinder a thing or two about calming people down. He just naturally started exuding a calming energy, hoping it would have an effect on the super tense Quinn, not realising that his latent spellcaster blood might be having an added effect…
Quinn could definitely feel Cinder’s power though. And they weren’t a fan. What happened to Cinder words the last time they’d met? About how Quinn could feel whatever feelings they wanted, and that was fine? Yeah coming in so strong with the venting hadn’t been a great call, but they didn’t want Cinder messing with them like that!
Cinder could only apologise with his usual smile. He didn’t know he’d been doing anything particularly special! He’d just wanted Quinn to slow down a bit (* cough * and had a mini fawn trauma response * cough *), they could keep venting. So, Quinn did! But slower this time. And Cinder listened well, and didn’t try to calm them down again. Besides, Quinn looked kinda cute when they were mad…
So the real reason Quinn was so upset was because Cinder’s balcony bench didn’t suit their decor tastes. They really hated it! Not sure how well that bodes for any future moving in plotlines…
