Robiness & the Creative Masochism Challenge: Hansry/KCD Edition!
On May 13, 2025, I shall write as many complete fics as I can in a set 24-hour period. Gen or Hansry.
You probably don't know me because I have zero Tumblr presence lol so hello, I write light-hearted KCD fics, mostly Hansry, on AO3 under the same name.

Rules:
New and complete works only. (No adding chapters to current fics*, no starting new WIPs)
1000 words minimum.
I can only work on the next fic after I upload the previous one.
Breaks are fine but no working on other fics during those breaks >:)
Any editing will be done AFTER the 24 hours finish (aka incentive to finish, bc I am a nitpicker even after uploading a work).

The actual date is to be decided, but it will happen in the first two weeks of May 2025. We're doing it on May 13, folks! In the meantime, my asks (including anon) are open for any prompts for Hansry or Gen fics you might want to inspire me with. Replies to this post are also welcome.
No guarantees your prompt will be fulfilled, I'm afraid, as I do have a list myself, but I will definitely note them down in case I can get to them later.
I will not write: other ships involving Hans or Henry, PWP, kink bait, tragedy/bad ending, dead dove, or anything that requires archive or major content warnings that aren't canon-typical.
Considering the nature of the challenge, please keep in mind that most if not all of the fics will be oneshots... canon rewrites, for example, won't be feasible even if I hated myself and actually tried lol
Not my first time doing this to myself, but the first for this fandom. I just remembered that those first two fandoms, I no longer associate with... Let's ignore the possible pattern there for now.

I just really hate the word "fandom". It's just a portmanteau of "fan" and "random". It sounds like some desperate attempt to be quirky and different. Plus, the word "fanbase" already exists.
idk, i thought it was fan + kingdom, or fanatic + domain??

Actually, Anon, fandom is significantly older than fan base or fanbase; the OED gives the first known citation of fandom meaning “the community of fans of a thing” from 1903, while their first entry for fan base isn’t until the 1970s. If you compare the frequencies of the two terms in Google Ngram Viewer, you’ll see that fandom has historically been far more frequent, with fan base running a distant second (and the closed form fanbase an even more distant third).
The OED also rejects your portmanteau hypothesis, though I suppose sportswriters from the 1900s might’ve been trying to be quirky and different when they coined fandom from the productive derivational suffix -dom, which the OED also gives copies examples of throughout the 1800s (including BA-dom, old fogey-dom, blizzard-dom and theater-dom.
Respect the fandom, guys. It’s older than Steve Rogers.
So, seeing as the OED does not provide free access to its sources, I looked this up. According to various webpages, included this one, ‘fandom’ was used in 1903 by the Cincinnati Enquirer to refer to baseball fans.
Thus not only do we have an early example of a word that combines ‘fanatic’ with ’-dom’ as in ‘kingdom’, we also have a useful reminder that when it comes to excessively liking things to the point of it being its own subculture, people who are into sports have the rest of us beat by several orders of magnitude.

431s interaction between them was half consumed by this awkwardness and rejection hanging over their head and No, izuku doesn't need to join Bakugous agency for them to work together meaningfully, that's not the point....
The point was always the framing of that whole interaction, and it feeling like a rejection(and kirishima teasing bakugou that it was such) and those lines at the end as Katsuki waves goodbye (as if izuku is moving on without him) that "no one is actually special".... and that it was, for a while, the LAST thread we got of them!
I've said it before and I will say it whenever it comes up, the bakudeku thread kn 431 was strange, and was like setting up a new (emotional) conflict up, with no resolution, which is just unsatisfying writing.
(Again, yes they will be friends and work together regardless of being in an agency or partnership, BUT it is the FRAMING and the overall context and placement of this conflict that didn't work....and I think it left a bad taste in all our mouths.)
But just the one panel from horikoshi was enough to lift a weight off me, just bc of how satisfying it is to actually see them happy, and working together, even climbing the ranks on each other's heels.

I think it's important to know, there's an older picture of David signing stuff, with his father-in-law WHO WAS THE FIFTH DOCTOR, holding a very similar sign behind David's back. I don't have the pic, but you can probably find it if you look a bit.
