Hiii hello I went down a rabbit role and now I made a guide of (almost) all the fonts used in the game, here's the link for the drive I put them all in:
Hello! I'm new to TWST and would like some general advice for the game. Im mostly interested in the story and the gacha, so I would like to know how and where to check for events and gacha banners for the game, as well as any tips for beginner players. thank you!
(sorry if sentence doesn't make sense, english is not my first language)
hello! :D welcome to Twst!! have a seat over here, we can commiserate on our gacha woes together (there are always gacha woes š)
I tried to cover a bunch of general stuff (and avoid story spoilers); my apologies if I missed anything or went on way too long about irrelevant or obvious things! this is just every random thing I could think of that I thought might be fun or helpful. :') corrections/additions from anyone else are more than welcome!
server versions/news sources
-> if you're playing the English-language version (usually referred to as Eng for short), it gets updates later than the Japanese-language (JP) version, but you have the advantage of knowing what events haven't run yet and being able to plan what to save for a little better. Eng also has a MUCH better website that lists all the upcoming events and updates in the news section, so you can very easily check there to see what's coming up! (there are also in-game announcements and posts on the twst_english twitter, but the website is a good at-a-glance resource imo)
-> if you're on the JP version, events and updates come more quickly, although it can be more difficult to figure out what to save for because they don't give us much warning. š and our website NEVER updates so it's a little harder to keep track of things -- usually update info will be announced in-game and on the twst_jp twitter, and that's about it. (the twst GG wiki also keeps pretty up-to-date on JP events, if I need to find a past event date I usually end up checking there!)
-> both versions also have in-game event announcements a few days before they start, as well as a monthly schedule that is updated at the beginning of every month that gives you a rough idea of what's coming up. while they don't give specific dates, events are listed in the order they'll happen, so you can still kinda plan around things. (more on that later!)
getting through the story (it's mostly lessons)
before I get too bogged down in talking about gacha and schedule stuff, lemme just talk about getting through the story first!
-> progressing through the main story usually requires you to rank up through experience you gain by doing lessons. flying lessons give the most player experience and imo is the fastest method if your main focus is ranking up (+ a good way to get those groovies).
-> similarly, most events will require you to do lessons to unlock the story (either through items that drop during lessons, or just requiring a certain number to be taken). sometimes they require a specific type of lesson and/or specific character, but those tend to be clearly marked when they happen. otherwise, alchemy lessons are much faster than the others and the quickest/most efficient way to grind event items or lesson numbers.
-> you will need to do battles throughout the story, so even if your focus is less on the card-building, you'll want to do at least some leveling up of your guys and their magic (remember that for SSR cards, they get duo magic when their second spell is leveled up to 5). if you're having trouble though, you can buy retry tickets (under the 'gem shop' in Sam's shop) for 10 gems each that let you play a battle or minigame in easy mode.
-> ...and speaking of which, there is a VERY nasty bit late in episode 6 that (without getting into spoilers) locks you into using certain characters and with other restrictions that are pretty brutal compared to the rest of the game. it's fairly far into the story so don't stress too much about it, but as you're playing I would recommend keeping an eye out to make sure you have at least one SR or SSR card of as many characters as possible, and try to have them at level 40 or higher by the time you get into 6. and just...keep those retry tickets in mind. it's. not one of the more fun parts. :')
-> episode 7 DOES have a few similar parts, but those have less strict restrictions and can be brute-forced if all else fails, so I found them significantly easier (although your mileage may vary there).
surviving the gacha hell
(quick non-canon terminology just in case: a 'pickup' is the limited-time card summoning events ('summons' in JP, 'showcases' in Eng); 'pulling' refers to summoning a card. i.e. "I did 10 pulls on the Sebek birthday pickup" = "I summoned 10 times in the special summon for Sebek's birthday card".)
-> what I think is the most important advice first: unless you're planning to spend a TON of money on microtransactions (don't do this), the best strategy is to try and plan ahead as much as you can and try to save your keys/gems for cards you really want! whether that's collecting your favorite characters, outfits that you just really really like, trying to get cards that would be good battle-wise, or what. don't worry too much about not having enough SSRs to start with; they tend to show up as you pull for other cards, so even if you only pull during certain events, you're likely to end up with a bunch of them anyway. šš
-> most pickups have a pity point where, once you reach 100 pulls, you're guaranteed to get an SSR for your next summon. (it's purely based on count and doesn't reset if you pull an SSR, so you don't have to start over if you pull the 'wrong' one, or if you get it early you can keep going to try and get multiples if you want.) at the 100 mark you can usually get the pickup SSR (the one that has the increased summoning chance), but it pulls from the entire pool of available SSRs, so it has a chance of being a random one instead. there is also more recently a second pity point where after 200 pulls, you're guaranteed to get the pickup SSR. (I THINK it resets after 200, but I've never actually seen anyone keep going after that, so I'm not 100% sure.)
-> because of this, most people will try to save enough keys/gems so they can do at least 100 pulls for a card that they plan on pulling for, and 200 if they REALLY REALLY want to be safe. (I am currently in the process of trying to save for at least 300-400 pulls so I can get both Skully and Swing later this year...wish me luck. š) bear in mind that those numbers are just for a guaranteed summons and it can still be worth trying even if you don't have that many; sometimes you really do get lucky! (I do recommend setting a cutoff point for yourself though, like "if I don't get him in 50 pulls I'll stop trying"...I have to do that for myself because otherwise I really will just throw all my keys into the abyss and then get all surprised pikachu when I don't have enough for the next thing.)
-> when possible, it's better to do 10 pulls at once instead of single pulls (you can combine 10 single keys into a 10-set, the button is right under your key/gem count when you're in the mirror). it's a lot faster and you're guaranteed at least an SR, so the results tend to be more generally useful even if you don't get the exact card you want.
-> it's rare, but some events (like the Tsumsted ones) will give you a free 10-pull for the event pickup, so keep an eye out for those! birthday events will also have missions you can complete to get up to two free 10-pulls on that character's previous birthday cards (I've gotten a couple of my dudes that way :D)
-> oh and ALWAYS try to log in on birthdays if you can, since you get a free 10-set as the login bonus for that day (two on the twins' birthday!)
-> generally a good way to build up gems and keys is to just login and do the regular daily stuff; the bonuses and missions add up pretty quickly! though Twst doesn't really do consecutive-day login streaks (the kind where missing a day 'breaks' the streak and resets your reward progress), so there's no need to stress about playing every day or taking time off or whatever. (the usual login bonuses have a date range, but you don't get reset for missing a day, and if there's a special thing it's usually tied to a specific date and not on a streak number.)
-> the other way I usually get gems is to replay rhythmics (through the 'rhythmics' button on the menu). the rewards for the rhythmic missions are small but there are a LOT of them (especially now that we have a new difficulty level in JP) and it can be a good resource for grabbing some extra gems when you need 'em!
events and schedules!
-> when you're looking at the monthly schedule, it's split into "early" (äøę¬) (about the 1st to the 10th), "mid" (äøę¬) (about the 11th to the 20th), and "late" (äøę¬) (about the 21st to the end of the month), although those are still pretty approximate and things sometimes fall a bit outside of that.
-> most events run immediately after each other, with a short maintenance period inbetween. so if, say, the current event ends on the 17th (2:59 PM JST), the next one will most likely begin on the 17th (4 PM JST). it's usually a safe assumption to make even if they haven't announced the exact dates yet (although they have surprised us a couple of times).
-> the exceptions to these are what I think of as kinda "filler" events that are usually only card pickups without an associated event story, like birthday and clubwear cards. these have less of a fixed runtime, often start while other events are still going on, and sometimes run a bit longer if they need a few extra days before an update (hence the "filler").
-> speaking of character birthdays, the events typically start a day or two before the character's actual birthday (probably because updates happen in the afternoon and they want the event to run for the whole day on the birthday). they also rarely update on weekends, so if a character's birthday falls on a Monday, you can usually expect the event to start a bit before the weekend.
-> continuing to speak on character birthdays: since events on the monthly schedule run in the order they're listed, you can use the birthdays to get a closer idea of when events will run! like, if a character's birthday is the 17th, and his birthday event is listed after an upcoming event, you know that event will be starting before the 17th. it's still all rough estimates, but we do what we can with what we're given. :')
special/annual events
-> the two "big" events per year are the anniversary (March for JP, January for Eng) and Halloween (usually somewhere in the range of September through November but not always). these are the ones that get special announcement livestreams with the VAs and lots of hype and buildup, so we get pretty excited for 'em!
-> the anniversary traditionally offers a new Grim card and a chance to get previous event and birthday cards, including the Halloween-exclusive characters (plus a bunch of better-than-usual login bonuses, and a light but cute story and rhythmic to go with it :). the way it typically works is that the previous event cards will be offered in a special pickup; pulling on that pickup will give you 1 anniversary medal per pull, which -- in addition to having a chance to get the cards just from gacha -- you can exchange for items, including a key to get an SSR of your choice (100 medals for a dorm uniform or birthday SSR, 150 for a past event SSR, 50 for a past event SR). you only get 1 key per type (dorm and birthday are under the same key) but if there's a particular card you REALLY want that you missed out on, it's absolutely worth looking at as something to save for!
-> the anniversary also tends to introduce new game features (sometimes quality-of-life stuff, like double lesson speed/triple battle speed, and sometimes just fun stuff like being able to set card illustrations and randomize characters on your home screen).
-> as for Halloween events, they're longer and more story-dense than regular events, and have more cards than usual (taking up most if not all of the month, and usually with three new SSRs). they also for the past few years have introduced new villain-twisted characters (as of 2025 we've gotten Rollo, Fellow + Gidel, Skully, and Swing) who then get their own card when the event reruns the next year.
-> the way that seems to work so far is that we'll get a pickup for last year's card, then a rerun of last year's event with the new card, then the new event. (it gets a bit weird because the cards are off by a year, so as an example: for 2026, I'm expecting that JP will get a rerun pickup for Skully's card, then a rerun of Swing's event with his new card, then a new event with a new character who will get a card next year. meanwhile Eng should get a rerun pickup for Fellow's card, a rerun of Skully's event with a first chance at his card, and then Swing's event, with his card coming next year.)
-> and just as a note, if you are playing on Eng, the 2025 Halloween event was combination Christmas-themed so they ran it later than usual (late November through December). Eng doesn't always do things the same way though so they might run it earlier, something to keep in mind though!
-> also, I believe Eng is two years behind JP in terms of anniversary (they just had their fourth anniversary and we're just starting our sixth), but they started running the Halloween stuff comparatively sooner so they're only a year behind there?
-> now for something I'm not sure about, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong...during episode 7 we got special SSR pickups for cards that were based on the events of the story; in JP the end of episode 7 was timed to fall at the same time as the fifth anniversary, so we got the last story card as well as reruns for all of the previous ones as part of the anniversary (and this year for the sixth anniversary we have a rerun for that last one). as far as I know Eng has finished episode 7 but hasn't yet rerun any of the story cards? so if you're on Eng you may have another chance to get them at some point, otherwise I don't know if/when JP might give us another shot at them. :(
I think that's all the major info I have that isn't otherwise covered by just playing the game! but one more thing just for funsies :D
bonus: summoning visuals
-> there are a few differences in the gacha animation depending on card rarity; I guess it's mostly a hype thing, since you've already pulled by the time you see them, but they're still kinda fun to watch out for!
-> if you see Grim in the beginning during the castle animation, that means you've pulled an SSR! (HOWEVER: a lack of Grim in a 10-pull does NOT mean there's no SSR, so don't give up hope if he isn't there! I think it just...picks a random card in the batch to play the rarity animation for, or something. :Y so Grim = 100% definitely an SSR, no Grim = still a possibility of an SSR.)
-> at the beginning of the mirror talking sequence, when the feathers fall down, two feathers instead of one means you have at least one SR or higher. like Grim, getting one feather on a 10-pull doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing good -- I've gotten multiple SSRs in a Grimless, one-feather pull -- so this one is maybe more useful for single pulls. (I think the sparkles behind the mirror are also different, but I usually just skip it after I see the feathers, whoops)
-> getting into individual cards now, when the key goes into the coffin, gold sparkles means it's R, purple/green sparkles mean SR or above:
-> and then the SSR coffins have a fancier design than the R/SR ones! (they also have an extra gold sparkle in the background, but the coffin is the really obvious thing)
and that's all I can think of right now! hopefully I didn't just make everything more confusing. š if anyone else has any corrections and/or their own tips, please feel free to add them! this game's been going a few years now and I know there's a lot of stuff I just take for granted at this point, so I might've completely missed something obvious.
otherwise hopefully this is helpful! enjoy the journey through the world of extremely handsome, extremely angsty anime boys with the shiniest hair you've ever seen. āØ

TWST Theory : Grim The Jabberwocky-Deep Analysis Based on Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass
ā ļøWARNINGā ļø
CONTAINS SPOILER CHAPTER 6
I was talking about Yuu, today I'm going to talk about the other Ramshackle dorm resident who's going to overblot in the future, our cute furbaby Grim.
In chapter 6 Idia did a research on Grim and this is one of Grim's test result :
People assumed that Grim is Cerberus, the keeper of underworld. But when you look at him Grim is more of a cat beast rather than dog beast. But there's other possibility what Grim might be. We know that Grim is combination of beast and animal so I'm going to break it down and explain his animal part and his beast part one by one.
-Grim's Animal Part : Alice's Black Cat-
Had it crossed your mind why Grim is a cat and not any other animal? If it's true that Twisted Wonderland and Ramshackle dorm is based on Through The Looking Glass, that's because Grim is most likely based on Alice's black cat from said book by Lewis Carroll.
In the future, it's Grim who's going to overblot, which means he is the "main villain" from Ramshackle just like Malleus from Diasomnia because he represents Maleficent. But why I said Grim is Alice's black cat? Because that black cat is "The Red Queen", who is the final "villain" of Through The Looking Glass.
Alice goes back to her original world after she shakes Red Queen which turns out to be her black cat, which also means she needs to "defeat" the Red Queen (her black cat) to return back to her original world. Probably similar with Yuu who need to defeat Grim to go home.
-Grim's Beast Part : Jabberwocky-
What is Jabberwocky? Jabberwocky is a poem Alice found when she enters the mirror world. It's a poem that's written in backwards, therefore she would need a mirror to read it from its reflection. It's also the first poem and is also at the very first page of Through The Looking Glass book by Lewis Carroll before the story begins.
Who did we meet first right after we enter the Dark Mirror after we were guided by Crowley's voice? That's right, it's overblot Grim.
Jabberwocky is a nonsense poem about a heroic boy slaying a creature named Jabberwock. It's made of 'portmanteaus' : a word made up of other words. The new word can be derived from usual english word or the combination of two words. Just like chimera, which is a single organism that's made up of cells from two or more "individuals". Which explains why overblot Grim is a chimera.
When Alice found the poem, she didn't know the meaning of those portmanteaus, but in the book, Carroll had Humpty Dumpty explain it to her. But right now I'll explain some of those portmanteaus based on what Lewis Carroll said himself. Below are some examples of the portmanteaus and their meanings :
From JP fandom side, someone made a theory that Overblot Grim is the combination of all 7 dorms. And we can see that here.
If you look closely, Jabberwocky consists of seven quatrains. How many official dorms in NRC and how many students are overblotting? That's right, it's seven.
Some also said that Grim has something to do with the time loop. Jabberwocky has a rhyme scheme of (ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL ABAB)
Notice how the rhyme repeats at the first and final stanzas? And the two quatrains of the first and the last are mirror images to one another. Moreover, Jabberwocky can be seen as an inverse mirror image of itself through it's distinguishable beginning and ending. Pretty much like how the time loop is, going back from the final to the beginning.
Additional (after thoughts) :
This is purely just my assumption and I don't have any evidence of it, but I have a feeling that Grim is the cause of why there's something called blot.
In chapter 6, Idia wasn't so sure about Grim's amount of blot, that's because someone was casting a 1000 year old primitive, ancient magic on Grim to cleanse blot, pretty much like the curse in Idia's family, which is a curse from "The Age of Gods" (and Idia said he could only examine the outer layer of it, since there are many ancient magic on Grim that even with S.T.Y.X super computer it will need 100 years to finish it)
From chapter 6, it's hinted that Idia captured the overblotting NRC students because of an anonymous request from someone.
And suspiciously (again) Crowley seems to know something about Grim...

imagine dying at 13 and one of the judges of the underworld says to your face Damn your mom screwed you over so bad you literally could have been so happy and awesome. Since that flew out the window let's take a good look at just how happy and awesome your life could have been on the tv screen to your left lol š¤
this is so diabolical to me because he didn't even ask if she wanted to know what she missed out on he just went ahead and showed her such a haunting thing, as if to convince her that the value of what gave and what she lost is too great to give up on elysium for her mom. hazel has sacrificed so much for others that a freaking underworld judge tried to encourage her to put herself first lmfao girl
very fun to think of this when interpreting hazel's self-sacrificing nature as being motivated at least partially by something more complicated than purehearted selflessness
ultimately she can't want things or put herself first because if she ever lets herself have self-serving desires then she'll end up just like her mom, so depressed and bitter and resentful of her poor circumstances that she ruins her life again. empathy for the abusive mother but commitment to not end up like her šš
I almost made a post about this the other day (unless i actually did and totally forgot) but thereās so many
I was going to make a list, but then i realized this is a good time to share this book
Making Stuff and Doing things is a whole collection of old punk DIY zines about making and doing just about anything, even things you probably never knew you wanted to do.
Book binding? In there.
Making bowls from old vinyl records? I made a whole ton for my brotherās grad party last year.
Basics of guitar? Making rubber stamps? Silk screening? Composting? Homemade beer, root beer, and wine? Soymilk?? Quill pens??? All in there.
Since itās more punk, it doesnāt have a ton of the folksy, cottage vibes/hobbies, but itās all about being resourceful and sustainable, which they both have in common.
If i ever need to do anything Iām not sure of, I double check this book to see if thereās anything in there. Itās one of the only books on diy Iāve ever needed.
and whoās to say jason grace isnāt in valhalla?
rick took the time to mention āhis gladius in his handā (301), and maybe iām reading too far into it because of course it could just be details. but it was no doubt a heroic death that impacted many, including apollo himself.
trials of apollo takes place at the same time as magnus chase. in the final chapter of the ship of the dead, magnus can sense annabeth is crying. maybe rick was just trying to make us cry over jason once more, but then i canāt help but think about the connection in the tower of nero.
Chiron casually mentioning being acquainted with two other pantheons and ādiscussing a mutual problemā (328). This makes me at least expect a connecting book/series - especially with rachel living next door to the brooklyn house.
magnus has never met jason. never heard of him, let alone know heās dead. valhalla has so many different faces and stories, and one of them could be jasonās.
sure, he could be in elysium as expected! it would make the most sense for someone like him. but let a girl dream!!
Considering how they donāt really have tabs on Jason, and how Nico himself isnāt exactly sure where he is in the underworld⦠thereās a pretty good chance he could be in Valhalla.
All of the Kane Chronicle references in TOA felt as if it was leading up to something beyond just fan service. I definitely think that a crossover would be the most logical step narratively, and it would be a great way to hand the torch over to a new generation of protagonists (or even our previous trilogy protagonists, because thereās still a lot he can do with them) if Rick wanted to continue the franchise.
Killing Jason off was important narratively, and I think it would be a disservice to his character to try to undo that, but Valhalla would be the perfect way to incorporate him back into the narrative without taking away from his sacrifice.
Also⦠I think the idea of Jason serving a different pantheon for eternity has some insane implications that I would love to see explored.

Luke was Camp Half-Blood's sword instructor for quite some time (let's say 2-4 years) before he went rogue, and
Most of the demigods at Camp were at least a few years younger than him (considering that iirc at the start of TLT it's implied he's one of the oldest demigods at Camp),
It seems likely that he was teaching swordfighting when a lot of the demigod kids were amateurs or complete beginners. He basically singlehandedly taught the new generation of demigods at Camp how to fight, and by doing so probably helped shape their swordfighting styles.
So now there's this new generation of kids who learnt how to wield a sword from Luke, who learnt how to roll and slash and stab and parry the same way he does, with the same habits he has.
Travis always subtly favours his left side when fighting, even though both of his eyes are perfectly fine ā he learnt the habit from Luke, whose vision in his right eye was never the same after his quest, and so naturally relied more on his left eye in a fight.
After delivering a strong blow, Clarisse often unconsciously wrings her right hand ā because Luke's right hand was weaker than his left, and so every time he used it in a sword fight he'd wring his hand absentmindedly to alleviate the tiredness in that limb.
Percy has come a long way from that 12 year-old kid who didn't even know how to hold a sword properly, but whenever he's got his back to the wall, he always finds himself falling back on Luke's lessons during those first few weeks at Camp ā and the method of disarming he finds himself using the most is Luke's signature move, the backhanded motion he used on Percy during their first sparring lesson.
As they grew older, the kids of Camp Half-Blood undoubtedly developed their own fighting styles outside of Luke's own. But the little habits they learnt from him when they were children never really went away. Do they remind each other of Luke sometimes, when they see each other fight? Do they see him in the absentedminded motions they do, the moves they choose to employ? Do they recognise those hints of Luke in their own fighting styles, and do they loathe seeing traces of Olympus' traitor in themselves, or do they hold onto those pieces of the man who used to be the older brother they adored?
You are a mosaic of everyone that has ever been in your life. And in this aspect of their lives, none of them can really escape Luke, even after he's already gone.
