I lied! Got curious and did a a video quality comparison after all. Left is dvd, right is bluray.

Even with my terrible eye for quality, I can tell that the remaster looks far, far cleaner and crisper. Everyone also looks less squished, which is interesting because the squished faces more resemble the manga's later art style.

The bluray uses the original subtitles, no changes to the translation.

Over all, I do think it's worth upgrading if you're a fan and especially if you're due for a rewatch like I was.

Alien 9- Central Park Media/US Manga Corps dvd release vs. Animeigo bluray.

This is honestly the first time I've ever purchased a bluray for something I already owned on dvd, but Alien 9 is very special to me.

I'm not very knowledgeable on video and sound quality so I won't be comparing that part. I thought it might be nice to compare the packaging differences at least.

I kind of miss the impulsivity that certain spaces used to allow. oh you want a hair cut today? hairdresser in the corner can fit you in before her 2 o’clock. tattoo of a cobra… sure leg or arm? even concerts, back when you could go to the box office thirty mins before any show. not saying these things don’t exist at all, but everything feels booked five months in advance and 10x more expensive

Nonono they don't get it. Swaddling a character and feeding them soup and giving them cuddles comes AFTER putting them through three hundred rounds of gas-fire horse plinko. If you don't endure torture before cuddle time then what is even the point? I want to wrap my blorbo's wounds, but he needs to get the wounds first. Do...do we need to go back to basics?
