Update as of 5/24 - I've received $1357, which covered what i needed when I set up this fundraiser; thank you so much to every donor, big and small!
However, that fundraiser was meant to cover a few weeks at most; I'm past a few weeks and I still need more. Relief should be soon, but, for a few things, not quite soon enough.
I mentioned in my last update that the job I'd gotten was entirely commission-based. I have since discovered that starting out in a job like that is for people who already have money to live on. I am continuing to look for a job with a steady paycheck. I have also applied for unemployment. I know the amount I will receive (a little less than half what I made at my call center job) but it'll cover the necessities. I'm still wrangling the identification details, but I'm getting there.
In the meantime, I have rent taken care of through another party (who can only contribute so much), and I still need to: again cover overdrafts (tentatively $200), eat and have transpo (also $200) and figure out my phone bill. My current provider was purchased by another provider last year, and I have like a few weeks to transfer my number and account either to the new provider or elsewhere. It's complicated because I don't know if the monthly bill itself will change, if the initial cost will include an activation fee, or if my quaint little phone will be compatible with a new provider. Genuinely could be like $70-$670 (if I had good enough credit to finance a phone I think this fundraiser would not exist).
So. Looking for another $500, I think. I'll let y'all know about the phone. Thanks so much for reading.
