I was thinking about my gender identity recently. I have trans friends, non binary friends, cis friends and when I talk to them about gender most of them seem to experience their gender as something that is intrinsically a part of themselves that wouldn't be changed by how they were raised.
I am a cis woman. However I feel like the feminine aspect of my self is very much the product of having been raised by a society that treated me as a girl.
I'm interested in traditional "feminine" hobbies, knitting, baking, sewing etc. But I suspect that if instead of having a grandma teaching me, her granddaughter how to knit, I was treated as a grandson learning woodworking with his grandpa then my hobbies would probably be centred on home maintenance and whittling.
I identify as a woman because the people whose life experiences I can relate to best, were raised as little girls and most of this demographic grew up to be women
