YOU GUYS IT’S DECEMBER 10TH YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN IN MY QUEUE SINCE FEBRUARY
you have the rest of the day to reblog this
[Image Description:
Two gifs depicting a scene from the show Community.
A shirtless man is on the ground in front of a christmas display in a mall saying, “Please, it’s Christmas!” He looks afraid and flinches backwards.
Shirley Bennett appears enraged and swings a giant candy cane over her head and hits him with it as he attempts to roll away. As she hits him she yells, “It’s December 10th!”
The camera is shaky in both shots.

pacific rim fucks severely for a lot of reasons but my favorite is that it opens with "the lizard aliens are unionizing so we built robots running on the power of love to fight them you got all that right" and before you have time to really process that concept bam gunshot body on the floor and the movie goes "now consider the vast power of grief in this setup" it never really stops considering
It also has a scene where the robot uses a boat as a baseball bat. That also fucks tremendously.
You’ve heard of the Roaring 20s........
now get ready for the Screaming 20s - coming to a decade near you in 2020
is it too early or can we start screaming now
in retrospect perhaps we should have started sooner
He might as well, we're not using it
I love the color palette that the Speed Racer movie uses. It's like no other movie I've ever seen. Especially at the time of it's release. That technicolor dreamscape definitely rewired something in my brain when I saw it for the first time.
I know people often compare it to Spy Kids or Lazy town, but I don't think that comparison encapsulates the use of color in this movie correctly. I think it would be more apt to compare it to recent cartoons that have come out, like Spiderman: Across the Spider verse, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and Kpop Demon Hunters.
Yes, everything is extremely saturated, but it's also purposeful, deliberate, and stylized. As I said, nothing else looks like Speed Racer.
The use of exaggerated color on the other cars makes the glistening white of the Mach 5 stand out. They inverse the colors on Rex's Mach 4 so the ghostly car can be seen separate from the Mach 5 when they overlap during the opening race.
And don't get me started on the final lap at the end of the movie, from the zebra zoetrope on the side of the track to the finish line wrapping around Speed in a kaleidoscope as he crosses it. Masterful.
And the night scenes! While muted compared to the rest of the movie, still more vibrant than most night scenes you see in movies today (isn't it great when you can actually see what's going on in the scene?). Love the moon's. And the use of the blazing red background in the scene with Racer X casing down the truck with the cartel guys who kidnapped Taejo.
There are so many other things I could point out.
But for now, all I can say is *chefs kiss
This movie deserves more hype.

Me, age 10, doing an essay on the pharaoh’s curse for school: huh. So this archeologist that died and everyone thought it was because he disturbed the pharaoh’s tomb actually died because he used a rusty razor to shave and it infected a mosquito bite. I can see how people could come to that conclusion, but it is a bit silly
Me, today, shaving my mosquito bite-ridden legs: I must tread carefully lest I incur the pharaoh’s wrath
