Mel never had any trouble getting out of bed before she started dating cat hybrid!Frank. She’s generally excited about life and has places she wants to be. Except when Frank is purring up a storm and all sleepy and warm, nuzzled up to her, it’s very hard to imagine a place she’s rather be.
These are probably just purely an amalgamation of headcanons I’ve seen here but he lives in my head rent free so this is just word vomit to bring me some relief.
🍁 He’s super freckly, like all over. They’re not necessarily dark freckles, but they’re there. And everywhere.
🔥 He’s a control freak, he doesn’t mean to be, but he gets so uncomfortable with being out of control. As a result, he hates surprises. Surprise gifts he can tolerate slightly more, but if you try to plan a surprise date? Oh he freaks out. He tries not to, he tries to be grateful but he hasn’t planned for this, and unknown variables have been dangerous in the past. It’s not intentional, it’s pure instinct.
🍂 His men really like him and are very loyal. He is fair but firm with his men, he very much leads from the front, he won’t ask them to do anything he hasn’t/wouldn’t. He has their deep respect, they don’t serve the Autumn Court, they serve Eris Vanserra (Beron doesn’t realise this).
🍁 He has his mother’s colouring but looks so much like his father it makes him sick. It’s part of the reason he has such long hair is so there’s more of his mother to him.
🔥 He has a bad temper but keeps a tight lid on it as he hates losing it because he just feels like Beron when he does. However, he doesn’t really have a good outlet for his anger, so he’s just a boiling pot and occasionally goes and destroys part of the forest when it gets too much. He hates this and always apologises to the land. The land always forgives him.
🍂 He smokes something similar to human weed (like mirthroot). It’s the only way he can sleep and it helps with the pain from injuries healed wrong over the centuries. He has chronic nightmares, even after smoking. But the nights he can’t smoke for whatever reason, he just doesn’t sleep. It’s easier to stay up.
🍁 He tries to take the brunt of his father’s abuse, which is pretty easy as Beron still holds his refusal the night with Jesminda over him. He only needs to bring attention to himself with a sarcastic remark or disagree with Beron slightly for him to forget his prior target.

There’s a post I found the other day (but I lost it and can’t find again) talking about how they didn’t agree with the very established headcanon that Jaime would call Brienne “wench” as a term of endearment because after Ronnet, he not once think of her as Wench ever again (it’s always either Brienne or my lady or lady Brienne).
Made me think about it. I do love using wench as a term of endearment in fics, but I also kinda agree? Idk, but I’m sitting on it.
I think however when Jaime is being really sweet and affectionate in an honest way, he would call her “Sweetling” or “my Sweetling”. Absolutely love that headcanon for them.

it’s crazy how grrm wrote the first woke beauty and the beast where a hot guy falls in love with an ugly woman and people will bend over backwards still to say brienne is actually attractive. like no she’s not and it’s not more feminist to say she is 👍
brienne deserved to be one of the leads in the show the way she is in the books, and her "no chance no choice" deserved to be adapted with the same treatment and energy that dunk's "are there no true knights among you."
honestly, we need her story to came to a fulfilling conclusion in the books and it to one day be adapted again!

Illness isn’t a switch you flip. Fever and nausea creep, spike, ebb, lie to you, then come back worse. They live in the body first, and that’s where your writing should live too.

Body aches feel deep, joint-based
Thirst increases, appetite drops
Sleep is restless, sweaty, unrefreshing
Colds / Flu:
More head pressure, sinus heaviness
Heavy cough, sore throat
Heavy fatigue
Fever may be mild or absent (especially colds)
Chronic Illness Flares:
Pain is familiar but still intense
Less panic, more resigned
Symptoms stack (fatigue + nausea + pain)
Character may ration movement and speech
Recovery expectations are lower
Menstrual Cramps:
Pain pulses rhythmically
Heat helps
Nausea tied to motion and smell
Sensitive emotions (more prone to snapping, saying things they regret)
Body feels heavy
Stress-Induced Nausea:
No fever, no chills
Jaw tension, shallow breathing
Nausea spikes during stillness
Relief when distracted or moving
These differences matter. They change how a character reacts, not just how they feel.
So yeah, hope that helps. You don't need vomiting on the page every time. Sometimes being sick is feeling off-key, or sometimes it's quiet recovery. It varies. The symptoms are one part of your story, the rest is up to characterization and plot. Why is illness relevant to your story? Why is this character sick, and how is it different from another character? You can have a lot of fun with this.

And the irony is that Jaime himself spends the entire series being punished for embodying that ideal too well. He’s trapped by it. The knight, the swordsman, the golden heir it costs him his hand, his reputation, his sense of self. Everyone wants to be Jaime, and Jaime slowly learns that being Jaime is a cage.

while I do enjoy certain relationships in asoiaf or nonsensical crackshipping among the fandom, the romance aspect of this universe has never really been a focus of interest for me. with that being said... my goodness...
jaime and brienne have altered the very essence of my being. I don't think I've ever been so wholeheartedly invested in the potential of a hetero fictional relationship as I am with these two. I mean at this point I've devoured every ao3 fic there is to devour. reading about them isn't enough anymore, I need them injected into my blood stream.
