jayroy as like, scrawny tiny jason having baby’s first crush on his big brother’s best friend, then beefing the HELL out when he’s grown up and roy finds himself drawn that kid as his own person and not just as the little tag along he used to be and there’s no baggage or judgment or messy history when they’re together, and it’s easy

also in the process of drawing this I realized how much jason’s current costume matches roy’s SO MUCH, way more than when they were active partners, and part of me likes to pretend he changed it to remember him after roy died (even though chronologically he already donned it when he heard the news, but still).

also, they are prolly teens or something here because of plot reasons in sweet tooth, but i didnt draw them young enough to be eight-ten, uh oh. might do that next time! jason would actually make sense being on his own then!
