Most of my drawings are fairly light, especially sketches, so I wanted to go for a darker thing.

How long had it been? How long had he sat in darkness, weighed down by a grief unlike before. Eyes swollen and heavy, painful to even blink at times. Tears having long run dried, yet they strained for more.

She was gone. Taken far too soon and without ceremony. He knew her death was near. Saw it everyday in the slowed movements of her routines. Frequent naps throughout the day that grew longer and longer. The barely eaten plates of food and untouched drinks. Quiet groans that she believed he couldn't hear when she stood up.

Yet, as her violet-blue eyes softened, staring at him with a genuine smile. One that held tender love and devotion while the corners of her lip trembled from the exertion.

Even that, he would desiderate for, no matter how small a piece, anything to release his beating organ from its ache. A glimpse that a piece of her was still her, something for him to hold close, to ground him from the all consuming tornado of despair and gloom that crept closer and closer to swallowing him whole.

No Bounds
