and listen. the redwall mice Are Not christian. they don’t seem to hold any sort of religious services at all. there’s no mention of a higher power; every “prayer” is a call to appreciate the bounty of nature & provide for those in need. their feast days are based around the cycle of the seasons, the sowing and the harvest, not the lives and deaths of saints and martyrs

As a tea lover when I first started I was really happy when I realised the meaning and properties teas have and how you can include them in your craft.

I recommend this for witches in the broom closet or witches on a budget because it's an easy way to include your craft in daily life while not making it obvious you are a practicing witch. Some teas are easier to buy and inexpensive (others will be more expensive).

But if you are trying to find ways to include you craft in daily life or are just looking for something easy to do. This would be very helpful.

1) Black tea

Properties: Engery - Masculine, Planet - Mars, Element - Fire, Season - Winter, Colour - Black and Red.

About: Black tea is created by fermented tea leaves. Black tea usually has a stronger flavour than most teas because of this. It also contains the highest amount of caffeine.

Benefits: Has inflammatory purposes and is helpful in maintaining healthy heart and lung functions.

Magical Properties: Courage, Banishing Boredom, Money Spells.

2) Green Tea

Properties: Energy - Masculine, Element - Fire, Planet - Mars, Season - Summer, Colour - Orange and Green.

About: Green tea leaves differ from black tea as they don't go through the same process of withering and oxidation. This gives the tea a smoother taste.

Benefits: Green tea is used in medicines mainly in Asia. It has been known to help with weight loss as it boost the metabolism. It can also help support a healthy heart.

Magical properties: Healthy, Longevity, Love and Passion Spells, Energy Spells, Cleansing Spells, Money Spells.

3) White Tea

Properties: Energy - Masculine, Elements - Fire and Air, Planets - Mars and the Sun, Season - Spring, Colours - White and Yellow.

About: White tea is linked to many teas and is not specific. The tea leaves are either steamed and immature or have not been processed at all. White tea is usually a pale yellow colour.

Benefits: Has antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory properties, increases health of your skin.

Magical properties: Cleansing, Clarity, Aura Healing, Fertility, Protection, Connections with

Deities, Youth and Beauty Spells.

4) Oolong Tea

Properties: Energy - Feminine, Element - Water, Planets - Mars and Moon, Season - Autumn, Colour - Purple and Dark Blue.

About: Oolong Tea is usually produced through a process of strong oxidation under the sun before curling and twisting. The colour varies between green and black.

Benefits: Has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Helps protect teeth and helps to lower cholesterol.

Magical properties: Love, Serenity, Reflection, Emotional Balance, Divination, Foretelling the Future.

This never occurred to me. Not once. That Americans are against Health Care because they think it actually costs tens of thousands of dollars for a broken arm, hundreds of thousands for a complicated birth, millions for cancer treatment.

I’ve had these same drops before living in the UK. They cost me seven GBP.

It’s the exact same drug, same steroid, same strain of antibiotic. But somehow the US gets away with charging $100 for a generic non brand version of a drug which is easy to create and widely used. It’s downright robbery, but also a form of eugenics through poverty and class warfare. You keep the poor poor by making sure basic necessities remain unattainable and then you make it seem like the norm so no one fights it.

The rest of the world is not like this.

Cinnamon is a very delicious spice. It’s in my favorite treats like cinnamon rolls and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Although I love it’s flavor I didn’t know much about it so here’s what I’ve learned in my research on it.

Cinnamon is associated with the element fire and the sun. Gods that are also associated with cinnamon are Athena, Oya, Ra and Apollo Planets associated with cinnamon are mercury, the sun, mars and Uranus

Magical properties include:

healing

Drawing money

Happiness

Love

Luck

Protection

When used as an oil you can anoint objects for healing and blessing rituals ( make sure to dilute it with a carrier oil)

Cinnamon can help creat the holiness and specialness of your alter room and raise spiritual vibrations.

Let me explain.

So the idea that human life expectancy has increased due to modern advancements is a myth. The average life span has certainly increased, however this is not because humans live longer (we have always lived to around 70-90yrs), but because infant mortality has decreased. In other words, modern medicine and abundant access to resources have decreased how how many children die, therefore increasing the average years humans live past birth.

So, Humans have known about menopause since the beginning, and it’s actually a huge part of our evolutionary history. Other apes do not live past their reproductive life span, as their bodies degrade shortly after ceasing to be fertile- evolution is all about how many offspring can be produce after all. Its generally a waste of resources to continue feeding adults who cannot reproduce when fertile adults and children are competing for those same resources.

So the fact that human females live for upwards of 30yrs past fertility was considered an evolutionary paradox. The key is that humans are really smart (sort of). We require a very long time to develop our brains, and so our infants are completely useless- unable to evan walk for a year, much less feed or protect themselves until middle childhood. They require a lot of attention and caring for, constant vigilence, not to mention hours spent teaching them basic survival tasks.

As a result, humans developed cooperative childraising systems, in which members outside of the child’s immediate family are responsible for caring for the young. However, if all the adults are busy raising their own children, no one would ever care for anyone else’s, except the older, not-yet-fertile children (who do assume childrearing roles, but are still developing and therefore are not good at it.) As a result, the females who stayed alive past their reproductive life span, no longer responsible for their own children, were able to care for the children of their children, allowing for their genes to be passed down more successfully. This creates a positive feedback system in which females lifespan progressively increases, since the older the grandmother, the more children the mother is able to have, and the more successfully they will be raised to adulthood, passing on the genes for long life to their children in turn.

This effect however decreased with subsequent generations: it’s less economical to have a grandmother AND a great grandmother taking care of the young. The payoffs aren’t high enough to push our lifespans even higher.

Actually, these folks found that it was most effective to target not mothers, but grandmothers. Because in the big extended families most Malians live in, the grandmothers have more influence, so they can negotiate a better distribution of food. Usually, everyone in the family eats out of one big bowl (or a handful of big bowls, because sometimes families are 50+ people). The men always eat first, then the women and kids, so the men get all the good bits of meat that were in the stew. Because “they’re working in the fields more so they need more food.” This is a tricky thing to change, and young women have very little influence over intra-family dynamics. Older women, though, can organize their sons, can talk to their husbands, often control meal planning and budgeting, so if you help them understand that actually, kids need more nutritionally dense foods because their stomachs are smaller, so giving them the leftovers all the time isn’t good enough… then you’re more likely to see actual change in kids’ diets and health.

it’s worth it. for both you and your players, but especially for new players who can see the game in different ways than you

examples I’ve written that you should feel free to use:

-orcs: rather than give in to the weird “tribal savages who fight all the time,” consider connecting orcs and their inate strength/constitution to the earth. in my most recent campaign setting, orcs are descended from a human champion who bested an earth primordial; the primordial, impressed with their strength, blessed them and their descendents with powerful tusks and a greater constitution.

-drow: instead of the entire drow narrative being “they’re dark skinned and bad because they betrayed the fair skinned elves and their gods,” consider playing up their connection to spiders. perhaps they worshiped a spider God who gave them the ability to blend into their darkened surroundings. if you’re married to their current aesthetic appearance, take care to present multiple drow societies that have different outlooks; not a homogenous race of black skinned slavers. consider pigmentless drow, who’ve lost all skin color because they never see the light of day. drow who use echolocation? distancing your drow from the bad connotations carried by the current zeitgeist is a useful endeavor

-include elves of color in your game

-drop the ‘tribal’ aesthetic and the connotations that goblins and other monstrous races have. it’s lazy (note, tribes and other similar social structures are still perfectly valid social structures; but if the only example of them in your game world is the violent, monstrous people who seek to destory “civilized communities” that sends a bad message about real life tribes and their validity

-focus less on race and more on societies; a society can be evil or good, but a race cannot

-consider that fantasy races have no reason to conform to any gendered structures (especially our current human binary). dwarvish societies who express their varied and fluid genders through beard braiding. elvish societies who reproduce asexually. don’t limit yourself to what you can relate to from a 21st century human perspective
