Ryan walked in on Fabian climbing onto the kitchen counter, hoisting himself up to reach the top shelf.
"What are you doing?" he asked, immediately slightly worried. One of the knives was right next to Fabian's knee.
"Hm? Oh, just getting the muffin tin from the top shelf," Fabian replied without turning around. Which, in this case, was a good thing.
Without a word, Ryan walked over to him, wrapped his arms around his waist, and lifted him off the counter.
"Hey-" Fabian started to protest, but shut his mouth when Ryan easily fished the muffin tin from the top shelf in the cabinet.
"Please ask me next time," Ryan told him, slightly amused.
Fabian gave him a defiant look. "I could have done it by myself."
"Yes, but I don't want you to hurt yourself," Ryan told him, reaching for his waist. Fabian's expression softened, and he stood on his tip-toes to kiss Ryan.
Ryan leaned down slightly to kiss him back. Fabian placed the muffin tin on the counter behind him and wrapped his arms around Ryan, deepening their kiss. After a while, Ryan's neck started to twinge, so he simply grabbed Fabian's thighs and hoisted him up onto the worktop.
"You know," Fabian mumbled against his lips, "This will never not be sooo fucking sexy to me."
Ryan grinned into their kiss. "Yeah?"
"Hmm, yeah," Fabian purred, running his hands across Ryan's shoulders, down his arms, back up, then over his chest. "Makes me feel so..."
"Small?" Ryan asked. It was what partners had told him before, over and over again.
But Fabian shook his head. "No. I mean, yeah, that too. But mostly..." He hummed, pressing more kisses to Ryan's mouth, "...safe."
"Oh," Ryan said quietly, feeling mushy inside.
"Yeah," Fabian whispered, and kissed him again.
