Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.
Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great
gonna be honest i don’t know how many more ‘enter the 6 digit code we sent to your phone’s i got left in me
being really sad about ccod ending and then watching the finale feels like that video clip where the baby starts crying and then someone throws a cheese slice on their face and they stop crying because they're too confused trying to register what just happened

expectation: haha silly fun times movie about sheep solving a murder, hijinks and shenanigans ensue
reality: what if you and you alone carried the most painful memories of your community? what if only you knew the true shape of reality? what if you were cast out for no crime but the accident of your birth? what kind of life can we truly live if we don't know death? what is the point of grief? why must we remember painful things? well, because that is how you keep the ones you love alive even once they're gone. if we were to forget all things that challenge or disturb us, we would never leave our small worlds. we must carry the burden of memory together. we must cross the road from the meadow and we must not forget.
Saw The Sheep Detectives. Expected a cute, low-key murder mystery. A fun, silly romp with a great cast. A chill, family-friendly whodunnit playing off a familiar plot with the cute and silly twist of the titular sheep as amateur detectives trying solve their shepherd's murder.
To be fair, it was absolutely all of that.
It was also somehow so much more than all of that? So much better than it had any right to be with a premise that cutely, shamelessly silly? So much more painfully, poignantly honest in the way it chose to deal with death than I ever expected? And still also a delightfully fun and silly romp about sheep trying to solve a murder (and succeeding!) based on your average murder mystery genre tropes?
10/10, do recommend, will watch again, etc.
Did I cry over a talking sheep movie today? Perhaps
Look, the sheep moved me with a deep reflection on death and memory and belonging. I was not expecting that with sheep shenanigans.

Me at the beginning of Sheep Detectives: Wow they gave him a really shitty blonde dye job huh
Me at the end of Sheep Detectives: OH SHIT
I thought the beginning of The Sheep Detectives was so silly and overly simplistic, then at the end of an emotional roller coaster, I realized we as the audience were put on the same level as the sheep.
We were children looking up to our Shepherd. We believed our little world was perfect and nothing bad could happen to us. Then something rocks our world and we must take the bad, difficult things and learn to cope. We had the realization that not everyone has the best intentions for us. We learned that grief can be a powerful tool, that pain doesn’t need to stop us from doing what is right. We learned we couldn’t do everything on our own, and that everyone has value if you let them play to their strengths. That first impressions and bias can lead us down the wrong path. That religion is full of contradictions but faith rooted in love, justice and acceptance can offer peace.
I could go on and on.
I saw sheep detectives last night and by the credits I was full on crying and I looked to my friend and was like. “Why tf am I actually in tears??” Only to look over and see my coworker (I dragged 10 people to this movie with me) full on fucking sobbing LOL
anyways this movie was amazing 10/10 and I might have to write some George Hardy fan fics ngl
Me in the theatre watching the supposedly funny movie with the cgi sheep
“so God is an invisible shepherd lamb beaver bread???” “And they eat him every Sunday” this movie is incredible dude

I beg of you, please go watch The Sheep Detective in the cinema if you can. It has so much heart and soul. I don't often cry (I have no emotions), but this one got me. I want to see more original and fun films with good messages and it won't happen if we only look at slop.
Sad when I googled it and realized Winter Lambs being outcast were an actual real thing.
To save you a Wikipedia visit: if they’re born in the winter, they’re usually expected to die of cold, so the rest of the flock don’t want to deal with them and they are avoided.
