I've seen lots of people headcanon Elrond as super tall, which is definitely fun, however, he is a short king to me. Elros is too. This is for the sole reason that I think it would be incredibly funny if their kids are all taller than both of them. The tall genes just skipped a generation. The numenoreans are known for being super fucking tall except Elros himself. Everyone forgets that and newer statues of him gradually get taller, leading everyone to think he was way taller than Elrond. Elrond disputes this and no one believes him. 18 year old Aragorn is at least a head taller than Elrond. Do you see my vision.
I got 60 out of 1000 đ
Based on the number of ratings each book has on Goodreads. And if you haven't read them, maybe you can use for a literature bucket list.
Anyone who says theyâve read all 1000 is a liar because one of them is a huge cookbook and no one is actively joy reading that.
with some of these itâs like âfuck, I did read that,â and with some itâs like âOh fuck, I did read that.â
I got 99, but I counted a few that I had only mostly-read before deciding I didnât like them and never finishing them.
Crablor fans: necessary viewing.
Into Coldest Water
A triple drabble written for SWGâs 6/6/2026 instadrabble session using the prompt âbut here I go again / back the way I came / into the coldest / into the coldest water.â Also on AO3.
VoronwĂŤ nearly drowned as a child.
Most of his early youth he spent on the water, sailing with his mother and uncle beneath the warmth of the young sun. VoronwĂŤ was slow to walk compared to other children his age; his mother never watched him closely, there was nowhere he could go. He should have been safe.
When he fell, it happened so quickly there wasnât time to cry out before he hit the surface.
The frigid water sent his small body into shock in an instant. His muscles seized, his mouth opened to gasp for air and pulled seawater into his lungs.
When VoronwĂŤ looked back on that day, he always struggled to parse the truth of what happened next from the false memories conjured up by childhood nightmares. What he knew for certain was that in one moment the walls were closing in, the glittering sunlight receding as he was pulled ever deeper into Belegaerâs grasping depths, and in the next he lay sprawled upon a rock half a mile from the sailboat, coughing and retching and wondrously, incomprehensibly alive.
A miracle, his mother said when she found him an hour later, frantic in her shock and relief. A blessing, proof of the mercy of Ulmo in all his unknowable wisdom. This brought her comfort, so VoronwĂŤ let her believe it, though the answer never quite satisfied him.
Centuries later, the ocean took him once again into its frigid arms; and again it spat him back out, unharmed, shaking and waterlogged upon the shores of abandoned Vinyamar. Then the next morning there came Tuor, bright-eyed and shining, a miracle unto himself, and only then did VoronwĂŤ believe. Only then did he understand.
The sea would not take him; not yet. Not while it still had work for him.

Tolkien Siblings Week rides again!
Immeasurably happy to announce that Tolkien Siblings Week, your annual hub for fanworks of all types centered on all sibling sets in all Tolkien works, is returning for its second year in fall of 2026! It will be running from the same dates as last year (November 23rd-29th), and operating on the same guidelines.
In terms of logistics, optional prompts will be released on June 23rd, leaving you a bountiful five months in which to brainstorm and work your creative magic. An ao3 collection will go live in the last few weeks leading up to the event; we ask that if you plan to add to the collection, you hold back on posting your work until then (although sharing previews or snippets is just fine).
Not much to say at the moment beyond that, except that it's great to be back, and we're hoping to welcome many new faces this year among our beloved returners. In the meantime, any burning questions can be sent via the askbox, messages, or in replies. And all reblogs are of course awfully appreciated as we work to get the word out âĄ
Much love till the 23rd! We hope you're as excited as we are.

Since the subject came up, would anybody be interested in reading an extremely self-indulgent fic (866 words) I wrote a while ago about Celebrimbor's dental anatomy and elvish teeth tissue and the impact it has on Annatar and why Finrod could fight a werewolf with his bare teeth? đđđđ
I know dentistry in the Silmarillion fandom is a very niche interest that probably nobody has, but I genuinely just love my job so much
EVERYONE get in the tags rn and tell me your favorite cheese
I'm still trying to figure out a design for TyelpĂŤ ... I'm never going to choose one
Something To Do
a double drabble written for the 6/6/2026 SWG Instadrabble session for the prompt: Green, Gems, Sunlight, Idle
.
CelebrĂan had never been content to be idleâeven the much needed rest of LĂłrien had chafed at her after a time, as she missed Elrond, missed her children, missed her home. It would be easier to bear, this long separation, if she could just be doing something.
Now she sat on a beach outside of AvallĂłnĂŤ with her uncle, watching the sunlight play on the waves. Across the bay the gem-strewn beaches of AlqualondĂŤ glimmered like rainbows, red and green and blue and gold. âWell, what do you want to do?â he asked.
âI donât know.â She stretched out her feet so her toes just brushed the waves as they whispered up over the soft sand. âWell, I want to go home.â
Finrod hummed quiet acknowledgment. That was why CelebrĂan loved him mostâshe could say things like that, and know herself understood, know that he would not try to convince her that it was better there, that she should try her best to put Middle-earth behind her.
âThere are many here who remember Imladris,â Finrod said finally, âwho miss it.â
âYou think I should build it anew, here?â
âYou could. Or at least, something like it.â

People on Tumblr love sharing information about themselves no matter how asinine it is. And I'm the same way. Everybody tell me what the last thing you drank was.
From the footnotes of the fic I posted today:
Tolkienâs statements on Aragorn and Arwenâs kids are pretty much just âEldarion and some daughtersâ, and where Tolkien gets lazy I ignore him and get creative :) . I think itâs a missed opportunity to lose the parallel of have four straight generations of twin sons and a daughter (Eärendil and Elwing never had a daughter, you say- well, they might have if Eärendil hadnât buggered off sailing). Additionally, speaking (human) genetically, the tendency for twins (not identical twins but I digress) is passed through the motherâs line, therefore it would make complete sense for Elwing and Arwen to have twins but CelebrĂan would have just as much of a chance as anyone. Therefore the only explanation is that Elrond was the one to give birth to E, E, & A, case closed.
I just published my first Silm fic. How? How is that the first one Iâve published? I have been writing Silmarillion fanfiction since I was nine. Little fifth grade me went through The Hobbit, LotR, and the Silm in one semester, then got to work. I have written Silm fanfic for a good decade or so. How have j never published anything? How?
A very last minute entry to @silmarillionepistolary week for this year!
and the ashes blew towards us (Ao3 link)
âI donât know when we will come. It may yet be a very long time, or at least what Iâve come to think of as a long time, what with all the mortals I am now constantly surrounded by. In the meantime, I hope that the letters and drawings we have sent will tide you over. If I know of anyone else going west, I shall send more correspondence with them. However, it is rare that anyone goes west anymore and is unlikely Iâll hear about it when it happens.â
A letter from Elrohir to his parents, sent with Celeborn across the sundering sea.
I had a blast writing this on the plane. Also enjoyed the speech to texting it. Editing speech to text is never fun, especially when you do not have your laptop đ. But worth it!
Not me jinxing gas prices for my entire community by driving past the Kroger petrol station and saying âGosh, 3.97, under four dollars, thatâs lucky!â
I didnât! Theyâve gone down even more!
