American Art Nouveau Plique a Jour Brooch
Still Life with Foxgloves and Ferns , Digitalis - Martha Darley Mutrie
British , 1824-1885
Oil on canvas , 102 x 85 cm.
the absolute devastating intimacy of a forehead rest. when you are both just so tired from existing in a world that demands you to be a rigid, functional individual, and you finally collapse into each other and just lean your forehead against theirs, or against their shoulder. it’s the physical equivalent of dropping your shields. it’s saying i am entirely heavy right now, and i am trusting you to bear a piece of that weight. and the most beautiful part is that the other person doesn’t even flinch. they just adjust their stance, tuck you a little closer, and absorb the impact. we were designed to divide the burden of being alive.

17. top 5 children’s books?
I struggled a little to name five, lol. I haven't read much children's literature in a long time (aside from the Tolkien ones), so 4 and 5 are based on me wracking my memory for stuff I read and have fond memories of from my elementary school years (I kept coming up with Where the Red Fern Grows which is not a top 5 unless we're talking about the Top 5 Books That Traumatized Me Before I Turned Eleven).
The Hobbit
Roverandom
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
basically any American Girl series*
The BFG

19. most disliked popular books?
I tried to read Gideon the Ninth based on a lot of mutuals here being very into it, but couldn't do it. I also picked up The Fourth Wing at one point because I was seeing it praised everywhere, and bounced off of that too--at which point I stopped really paying attention to what was popular. Oh, and Dune. Read that once, found it forgettable, tried rereading it whenever the movie came out, and didn't find it any better.

For the book asks: 6!
6. what books have you read in the last month?
I'm working my way through The Return of Sherlock Holmes, and just finished The Adventure of the Abbey Grange the other night. I also reread Piranesi and The Goblin Emperor, as well as Smith of Wootton-Major and Farmer Giles of Ham. And I read The Vampyre, like I've been meaning to for years.
After being in a terrible reading slump for ages it feels really good to be finishing books again--even if most of them are short stories and rereading old favorites! Also I'd recommend all of those books except The Vampyre, which was...dull. I skimmed the back half of it just to see how it ended (anticlimactically).

FARAMIR & ÉOWYN
"And so they stood on the walls of the City of Gondor, and a great wind rose and blew, and their hair, raven and golden, streamed out mingling in the air."
latest finished commission, where i had the opportunity to go with my own vision of the characters, and here's what i landed on... they may look like squares but i know they freak4freak in their hearts etc.
