One moment you're reading the Silmarillion by the fire with a cup of tea, and next thing you know you're using terms like Crablor and crispy Amrod and kidnap fam and Comrade Maedhros unironically, much to the concern of your relatives. Time passes and it gets worse. Angbang brainrot makes you write an essay on Melkor being a secret sub. You casually start referring to Finrod v. Sauron as a princess rap battle. You write a second essay, and if you're really far gone it might even be a Fëanor apology. You ship every Finwëan under Laurelin with every Finwëan under Laurelin. You hiss Nerdanel was a little freak too at scared passers-by. You mutter justice for Eluréd and Elurín over breakfast. Your friends pat you on the head and sigh. You curse them in flawless Quenya.
Cause like. Listen. Its an absolute tragedy and horrific that Celegorm's servants left Eluréd and Elurín in the woods. Objectively awful and im not saying its not but im thinking very much about how they (and Elwing, though she survives and makes it to the Havens) are the child victims most focused on in the kinslayings but its highly unlikely that they were the only child victims, at the absolute bare minimum children died due to both kinslayings, i mean fuck its the fall of cities. People die when cities fall. Lack of food, water, injuries left untreated, harsh conditions with no shelter and honestly I don't think Eluréd and Elurín were the only children who were murdered/abandoned/lost nor was Elwing the only child to live with the trauma and terror of what happened only to face it again at the Havens. But we hear their stories because (they're narratively important) they're royalty. I cant help but wonder about all the non-royal/noble children and what happened to them. Maedhros searched for Eluréd and Elurín but was there a search for non royal children?

I made this tiny headshots for all Finweans and their spouses as a reference for color scheme and general appearance so i have a consistent reference.
Sorry for vanishing for a while again, been dealing with a nice mix of health & life stuff and haven't had the spoons for ✨ social interaction ✨. It's been rough and I'm still not fully functional yet, but I'll be getting back to my usual soon hopefully. In the meantime, have a piece I did very slowly between crashes that I am nonetheless quite happy with.
