ACAB means Assigned Catboy At Birth

So there was a local news article about how the city was debating what to do with a dog park that was built on sacred (stolen) land. And granted, I suspect the city has other motives for wanting the dog park gone, not that they actually give a shit about returning stolen land. But folks in the comments on FB kept making snide comments about how "next you're gonna say these other areas are sacred and we should give them back too!" Without thinking, I commented how "The folks saying all land is sacred are SO close to getting it. SO close!" Because yeah, all land is sacred and absolutely should be returned to the indigenous. But let me tell you. The white men in the comments did NOT like that one. Also for extra context, I don't have a picture of me in my profile, just text saying BLM. So now they're saying awful stuff to me that I won't repeat here, and also calling me racist. Which is funny as hell as a white guy myself, because it's like. Yeah, I'm 100% sure I got some harmful beliefs I haven't analysed yet, because I was raised in a racist society. But I'm certainly not "racist" in the way they're trying to accuse me of lmao. Anyways. That's been on my mind a lot lately. How white men seem to think it's a personal attack when you point out injustice they've ignored/upheld, and cannot fathom the idea of one of "their own" speaking up on those issues. It's really jarring how much differently I get treated by strangers with me having that profile picture, and yet I know it's only a tiny fraction of what bipoc folks deal with on a daily basis. And it just makes me so fucking angry because it's like?? This is the shit my friends have been dealing with their whole lives??? I can't comprehend what would drive a person to be that hateful. What kind of sickness do you have in your heart to be so devoid of empathy that you would treat someone as subhuman for simply looking different from you? For having a different culture from you? What the actual fuck is wrong with people??? Don't get me wrong, I already believed BIPOC when they talked about their experiences, but actually having it directed at me, even if misdirected, makes it feel like so much more than another person's story. Idk. It's similar to how I knew being a flood victim sucked, but didn't realize just how much it sucked until my own home flooded? It's exhausting. No wonder so many of y'all are constantly burnt the fuck out.
