Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

Whenever they misbehave, which is usually by fighting their adopted brother, I will simply stand up, point to the bathroom (which has its own litterbox and water fountain), and say in a stern voice "Go in timeout." And they will just walk directly into the bathroom, turn around to face me, sit down, and politely wait for me to shut the door. They understand their crimes and have no remorse. This is a calculated risk, and they have fully decided that spending 20 minutes alone in the bathroom is worth throwing claws

I decided to go ahead and design a pride flag that is heavily inspired by both the progress flag and the last Gilbert Baker flag! I love the colors and meaning of his final flag design, even if I was baffled by the choice of placement for the lavender stripe. This flag attempts to honor his memory but make it slightly more aesthetically pleasing (to me anyways), while centering our most marginalized identities in the community.

If they ever do another Dr. Who reboot then I suggest they start the first new episode by showing one of the current recent episodes being played on a screen in the Tardis, with the new doctor, clearly exasperated, venting to their companion, "Is that really what they think I'm like? Please tell me that's not how I seem to others. That's a gross mischaracterization, right? That's not how people actually see me, is it???" The camera cuts to the companion, who is trying hard to stifle either a laugh or a grimace (hard to say which) and poorly reassuring them. The entire reboot is treated like it never actually happened, but instead was based on random encounters people had with the real doctor. They could even reuse some old episode plots that way, just told from a different angle!
