Meeting In St. Mungo’s | Open
Therapy. Seriously!? She was livid. With the death of Dumbledore, her schooling hadn’t been the same. Matter of fact, she hadn’t returned to school. She finished through a private tutor but still hadn’t quite mastered her powers. Her parents suggested she move to London and receive treatment at St. Mungo’s. Which sadly had meant therapy. Apparently there was something about “quelling your inner demons”. It just made the girl’s eyes roll.
Now she was living in London, bartending some seedy bar, and making weekly trips to the wizarding hospital. Life as she knew it had quickly spiraled down into something quite lonely and fairly depressing.
Acelynne wasn’t watching where she was going, and rounding the hall corner, ran headlong into a passing physician. Her bag went flying and she sailed right onto the floor. Great… She huffed as she attempted to pull herself together and gather her things. “Sorry… Didn’t see you there…” The girl rose and held her bag close.
Circus Verse
Acelynne O'Connor was raised in a dark world. There was no such thing as discipline; just punishment. And much of it. By the time the girl had reached sixteen, she'd been tortured to an inch of her life more than once. So much for a father, and so much for a mother - a shadow of a human who turned a blind eye. Needless to say, the girl packed a bag one night, climbed from her window and ran. She didn't stop until she'd reached the pier, the furthest most edge her feet could take her. While the urge to throw herself over the edge was strong, she stopped herself as one of the boatmen watched her. "What you doing here girl?" His gruff voice had questioned. "Gotta get outta Ireland..." she'd muttered. "Need a ticket love..." And how was she supposed to get a ticket? It wasn't a small island but it wasn't large enough to hide from her abusive family. A dancing crumpled paper caught her attention, flapping from the wind while it was held captive under her boot. "Le Cirque du Monde Mystique" Trapeze artists flew overhead, and a fire juggler stood feet from her. "Performers wanted." The flyer had read. It wasn't long before she was sitting before a woman colorfully dressed, with bobbles hanging from her hair and wrists. "And just what talents do you want to share with the world?" Her thick French accent was poetry to Acelynne's ears. "Really just need off the island... I'll take any job you'll give me." Her eyes pleaded best they could. "Well, what can you do?" It was shortly after Acelynne learned of her powers, the Siren's Call. And shorter still that she was hired. Madame de Sang made far more money than she ever thought possible off Acelynne's voice. Men filled the seats to capacity, others leaned against the tent dying to hear her song. She'd been proposed to as numerous times as there were scars upon her body. But she remained with the circus, traveling the world. Here she was safe. While she kept the buckets full of coin, she would be safe.

Owen loved watching the band go on, when Ace got the place going,he barely had to lift a finger. Everyone was too lost,in the trance to do much except stare and cheer when he spell finally broke. As the crowd erupted into the last bit of applause he was busy at work again. The barmaidens were running up and down requesting another round or some odd mix.
Taking a breather as the first wave ended Owen looked down at himself. His work uniform reminded him of the old muggle movies. A loose fitted,white,button up and black trousers, simple and easy to clean. Some only knew how much of a mess,the drunkards would make and how often he’d get the splash of a tipped over drink.
As the singer called to him Owen’s renown smirk spread over his face, “Well, well quite a show tonight Ace. What can I get a talented girl like you?”
“Hardy har...” She jested, tapping her finger to her pursed lips. What to drink... what to drink... “Uh, let’s go with a whiskey sour tonight... more whiskey, less sour?” With a wink she let herself rest on an elbow and survey the room.
It was a bit of class, their little hole in the wall. The owner was a fan of nostalgic muggle entertainment, so Acelynne found herself crooning “retro” love songs, and “jivey” ballads as she’d heard Merf mention before. “Really Ace. This Etta James lady had a voice!” The siren would just roll her eyes. “Well, I mean, to be fair... She was a muggle...She didn’t have your... special talents???”
Yes, her talents. It bothered her that she was basically selling her magic to the pub owner. But it paid the bills and allowed her to keep existing. Since, that’s all life was anymore...
The crowd bored her and she returned her attention to Owen. “You know it’s got nothing to do with talent.” Her nose twitched in a tinge of disgust. The girl shook it loose. Eyeing his perfectly white shirt she chuckled, “What ever did you do before magic? I have a feeling Tide wouldn’t have kept you nearly as tidy.”

The band slowly ended, the singer gave a calm nod of her head to the applause, blew a kiss to the raving men below, and exited stage left. The set was done, and she quickly pulled the few pins from her hair, letting her brown locks tumble down her back. Slipping out of the slinky star covered evening gown, Acelynne donned a pair of skinny jeans, draped tank and leather moto-jacket. A quick buckle of her straps and her pumps were secure. She wasn’t planning on dancing the bar that night, but you never knew what a dare and a free drink might do.
The siren hated the meager life she’d put together, but it was better than nothing. She hadn’t done well enough in school to go for anything worthwhile so lounge singing at the Diagon Alley pub, The Rose and Dragon. She could almost write out the rest of her evening - a few free drinks, a handful of drooling men’s numbers slipped into her hands, and a lot of smirks from the bartender. Not the same sort of smirks as those who were woo’d by her song, but the sort one gives when they’ve got something to say. And Owen seemed the sort who had something to say - a lot of somethings.
Making her way through the crowd from the closet excuse of a changing room, she finally leaned over the busy bar to locate her favorite barman. “Oi! What’s a girl gotta do for a drink around here???”

Acelynne smirked and turned, drying one of the tumbler glasses and leaning on one elbow against the bar. “You’re ridiculous you are. You’ve got another set don’t you? Here… What’s your poison? It’ll be on the house.” She smirked, setting the now dry glass upright, “Though you’ll owe me those cookies.”
Drew couldn’t help chuckling, ridiculous indeed he was.”Oh yes, I got another set in a few” he replied, quite cheeky. This was a night of hyperness it seemed, the dorky man playing around while his time to be on the piano came again. “Whiskey on the rocks please, thank you very much”
"Tomorrow you’ll have a box of cookies, I’m a man of word. On the other hand, how is everything going?"
"Ah right. Tomorrow. Your night off. You'll be bringing the bar maid a box of cookies then." She chuckled. Drew was a magician with a piano and it saddened her that the week days didn't hold as many persons as the weekends. Lord knew he deserved a full house every night. He was one of her more favored patrons. Somehow he seemed less affected, if affected at all by her curse - that or he had it well. Either way he made her feel human, normal even. Pouring the amber liquid into the glass, she slid it across the wood to the man. "Things go I s'pose."

She tried to hide her fidget, not appreciating the truth in his statement regarding humanity's flaws. Shaking it off, Ace just shrugged focusing on the fun of antagonizing the man, "Ya... But he's hot and trust me, I've far more in common with a reckless play-boy than I do a web-slinging geek..."
"What does him being a skinny white kid have to do with anything? And an attitude? Do you mean sarcasm, to mask the pain of thinking he was the one who caused the death of Unce Ben? Who mind you was his second father after his parents died?” Larry scowled. “And yes, he’s my favorite. Iron Man’s next.”
Acelynne just rolled her eyes, "So much unnecessary angst that really just gets old and cliche. Now... Iron Man on the other hand... I could easily be written into that story-line."
"Well, see, you’re just kind of wrong. Spiderman is an incredibly important Marvel character,"
"Important or not... He's a skinny little white kid with an attitude. You're not implying he's your favorite are you???"
"Did you just insult Spiderman?”
A brow rose, "Mmhm... So what if I did?"

Acelynne O’Connor. Siren. “This sucks.” She’d been a loner before the curse, and God knew she’d be a loner after. If only Regina could have stripped her of her powers entirely.
Now that her time wasn’t being wasted in therapy with Dr. Hopper or whoever he really was… Ace had grown fond of a little meadow just outside the town. She lined the far side with rocks so no matter the hour she’d never cross that line. Her memories were more like nightmares, but it was all she had.
Today was no different than any other day since the curse broke. A book in her bag, along with a thermos of Apple cider and a bag of cookies, she’d started the cold trek to her lonely spot in the woods. Ruby had once gotten on her case, saying it was too cold for her to be camping out in the woods, but snow or not, she enjoyed herself. She enjoyed being alone. Or rather she tolerated it. It was better than the accusing looks she got from women and the drooling stares from their men.
Walking into the clearing her bag nearly slipped from her arm and her expression was less than pleased. Some over dressed buffoon was laying in the middle of her frosted meadow looking horrifically dazed. She moved to him and plopped into the snow beside the stranger.
Inquisitive eyes peered over at him, a smirk on her lips, “I guess you’ve never met Ruby… At least I wear a coat in the snow.” He’d be freezing and though she wasn’t pleased at sharing her solitude she wasn’t in the mood of sitting with a frozen corpse either. Pouring the warm amber liquid into the thermos cup, she handed it to the stranger, “I’d ask if you come here often but we know that’s not the case. Here, you’ve got to be freezing.” Her tone was dry but sincere.
If she’d learned one thing about her acursed power it was no matter what they’d fall… It was easier to push them away if she seemed disinterested. Not fool proof but better than being friendly.
Ace’s white tee was stained with whiskey, rum from wiping the tables, and the chambord that splashed her while mixing a Red Velvet. “Damn…” She huffed as she ran her fingers through her hair. The girl stood in the restroom, fluffing up for the night crowd. Thankfully she...
Ace blushed openly, her smile wide. "Doc, you kill me." She jested, shooting him a quick wink before turning to start on his drink before he even confirmed his order. It was the best part of her week - sure flirting with the bar's patrons was all part of a day's work, it was more fun when they had a face like Damian's.
Sliding the amber liquid across the bar to him, she once again resumed her leaning stance, chest resting upon her arm. One hand free to let her fingers play with a few loose strands of her hair. "Good day at the office?" She half shouted, her eyes on him but she kept a look out for any other thirsty patrons... It was work after all.
Ace wasn't sure just how much flirting it would take to get him to ask her on a proper date. Hell, she'd take an improper date at this point considering her lack of anything the past few months. Not to say she hadn't had her fair share of one night stands... It'd just be nice if for once they had a brain.
"What sort of medicine do you practice anyway? MD? Psych?" She chuckled and stated in a sarcasm oozing tone, "Dentistry?" She'd seen him walking in and out of the general hospital too many times for him to be a dentist, but she couldn't help jesting with him. He was always a good sport and played along.
