HOWEVER ppl calling this a “nothingburger” or saying that “there is nothing to apologize for” are so out of touch. even if what they were saying wasn’t actually the n word they were still joking about it sounding like the n word which is extremely harmful towards us for obvious reasons.

now obviously black ppl are not a monolith and im not the only black person who feels the same so don’t ONLY LISTEN TO ME ABOUT THIS cuz other black ppl who are hurt shouldn’t be forced to forgive.

i don’t think that Micheal or anyone else involved in that clip are racist in this current day, especially if they have done things that have shown growth online or offline. i think that it’s good that Micheal addressed this properly and apologized.

like i said already i don’t think we should label someone as bigoted for something they have done years ago when they aren’t actively like that now in the current day and have changed, however that doesn’t mean that we should tell ppl who’re rightfully hurt to “calm down” or whatever.

we should definitely still hold ppl accountable when they make insensitive jokes like this.
